  1. That's why the likes of me and oldsparky went last night because Scunthorpe gives us what you've listed and what fans want from a good speedway meeting! So take it away and less fans will go. But I think Scunthorpe fans tend to go more when they have a winning team. Oh and bill Ash for the air fence panel. Job sorted
  2. Joe Lawlor is Belle Vue's number 8 this year and has just started out riding MDL. He was Scunthorpe yesterday with Buxton. Kev Whelan lives in Edinburgh and has been doing MDL for just under a year now with Buxton. Ive seen him a couple of times at junior level and he's decent enough, if no overnight sensation. But tbh its harsh to judge against Birmingham's powerful team and reserves, who are basically third heat leaders in most other teams!
  3. Not many posts on this thread. Surely a good chance of Scunny's first home win?? The home side have the slightly better top 3 but the visitors the better reserves around EWR imo.
  4. Yeah so for average purposes, this is Perks' first meeting. Alex, Blacklock as a guest is on the Mildenhall website.
  5. Newcastle are a top 4 looking team to me, but they won't finish there if their most influential riders are always missing.
  6. Still, it seems strange to accept a date when your top 2 and reserve are missing.
  7. Am I right on thinking that BV own Steve Worrall and KL own Lambert and Rose, so when you race Scunny on bank holiday Monday you'll be missing those 3 and possibly Aarnio will still be out injured? So only 3 regular Diamonds!
  8. My prediction then is that Eastbourne will score 3 figures over 2 legs.
  9. If a rider is missing due to a PL fixture you can have a guest, so it doesn't have to be R/R for Perry. But I suspect it's all academic as its KOC so we know who is going through anyway.
  10. If Bates' average goes up in 2 weeks and Woryna's replacement isn't signed yet, who could actually guest for him? He'd be the lowest averaged rider in the league and presumably an EDR can't replace him so, PL rider under 6.00??
  11. So basically Buxton's only error is believing that the process to obtain a passport would be quicker than it is. Though the SCB/BSPA have poorly decided on the requirements to be British, as surely citizenship is fine. They also accepted Buxton's team declaration when they shouldn't have done until his passport arrived, seemingly changed their mind over Mudgway's eligibility at late notice and then permit Buxton to use R/R when there's no grounds for a facility. Of the two parties I can see who's more to blame here as all I would lay at Buxton's door really is naivety.
  12. Do you know when Holub is likely to be back? The Plymouth meeting or are we looking at May?
  13. I hope Scunthorpe's season doesn't go the same way as last season when early home defeats led to a drop in crowds and calls from Rob for the fans to come back. The thing is though, is the management seem to think the team is better than it actually is.
  14. I know this was only a challenge, but with heat 4 protected for the number 7s surely Wethers couldn't replace Carr when Carr touched the tapes. Or is that not in the rules? It just seems a way to get round the protected element if you're a team manager, rightly or wrongly.
  15. Tbf to Harris, he's put in a lot of work over the winter with Poultec and he did very well in the junior champs and pretty well in his spell at Kent. So he's shown that he has speedway potential in him.
  16. Great signing. He might be on a high average but he will be nigh on unbeatable around Arlington and even at away tracks I'd expect him to win most heat 15s. Plus it makes the team look more attractive so might bring in a few more fans!
  17. You'd like to think so but seeing as Bowdery announced that he'd signed for Birmingham during the winter I would've thought that he would be a better bet than Locke. That's simply if it's down to the team's choice.
  18. Good to see Ben fixed up. Did you see him last season at Perry Barr
  19. You conveniently didn't quote the part of my post where I answered this. If you're in full-time education at a college or university and are issued with an NUS card, it will have the name of the college or university on it. Therefore people who receive one for an online course etc can be disregarded.
  20. So you're saying tough luck to students who are the next generation of supporters and have done nothing wrong but can't afford to pay the price that adults in full-time emolument can! As short sighted as most of the promoters. You don't remove a system because some people flaunted it, you change the rules to stop the people flaunting it! That way unfortunate people aren't penalised.
  21. The whole withdrawing of student admission is ridiculous. Many thousands of companies/establishments offer student discounts in Britiain and they accept simply a NUS card issued by a University or College. It even has the Uni or College's name on the card!! Why can't Coventry just do the same instead of acting like its a completely new problem that they've found. So what about those students that just want to see a one off meeting? They're not going to go through all that process and just not bother to turn up, and that's lost income!
  22. They shouldn't be able to because the green sheets have Holt's average wrong. It should be 3.44 not 3.00, just check what he ended last season on because the 2015 final issue is right. Then that wouldn't give BV enough points to drop Woolley for Hopwood.
  23. It's the British U21 Semi at Kent tomorrow and the top 10 qualify for the final at Sheffield. Line-up: 1. Kelsey Dugard (Isle of Wight) 2. Luke Ruddick (Mildenhall) 3. Jack Kingston (Cradley) 4. Ellis Perks (Plymouth/Eastbourne) 5. Connor Mountain (Mildenhall) 6. Nathan Greaves (Sheffield/Kings Lynn) 7. Danyon Hume (Birmingham) 8. Jack Parkinson-Blackburn (Birmingham) 9. Danny Phillips (Newcastle/Stoke) 10. Jack Smith (Birmingham) 11. James Shanes (Kent) 12. Alfie Bowtell (Mildenhall) 13. Danno Verge (Kent) 14. Liam Carr (Berwick/Coventry) 15. Josh Bailey (Scunthorpe/Kings Lynn) 16. Ryan Kinsley (Kings Lynn)
  24. Thankfully its not too bad either. Dave Peet: "Zdenek has abrasions across his right shoulder and right arm. Hes battered and bruised. We dont think anything is broken.
  25. You get an extra 5% added to a riders average if you want a guest for a home meeting. However that only applies in the EL and PL, and not the NL.
