Ok agree that from now on success looks to be limited. The League has already gone. Trophy also looks to be gone. Cannot see us getting past Eagles/Brummies in the KOC. And to top it all we will not finish in the top 4 to get in the Gold Cup. We look to have a decent top 4 and could do well in the foursomes, trouble is when the pressure/crunch comes in League meetings one or two of these go missing ?
-
What fans call a successful season ? I remember before the first season ( 2013) Mr Silver say `if this team cannot win any silverware I will eat my hat `. Well we are now in our THIRD season and the team is still nowhere near to winning any silverware. I do not agree that just winning the majority of Home meetings (we have lost THREE at Home in the League already )and finishing top 5 is anywhere near being a success. As a stand alone Club in the Third tier of British Speedway,we should be looking to win something every season (like Cradley)IMHO.

Oh dear,oh dear !!! I did not go tonight as I feared this is the way the team is going - to bottom of the League. Stoke have been well beaten in all 3 of their League meetings away from Home but get a much easier ride at CP. Feel sorry for Couzins and Shepherd who are struggling big time. And things will only get worse for Kings this month with trips to Cradley and Eagles ???
-
Agree with above. I feared that the team would be CARRIED by Ben (allowing for the odd bad meetings by Shanes,Ayres and Baseby). But the real problem is that you cannot CARRY 3 riders and expect to get away with it. Hunt wrote in the programme about this recently, but what can be done ? To have Couzins in the main body is not fair on the rider and really weakens the team.

So the first Heat last night was FIVE Laps ????????? Is it really that hard to count to 4 !!! Another example that makes Speedway look so Amateurish. -

Well done Brummies, deserved win, with a great reserve and back up to boot. Kent - well - disaster ? Morley - Unusually bad night for him. Couzins - way our of depth in main body. Baseby - Very average tonight. Ayres - Did OK -not at his best. Shanes - IF ONLY WE HAD 7 of him. Verge - going to struggle even at reserve. Sheppard - Struggles just to stay on bike. Kent are way behind Brummies,Cradley and Eastbourne. At least a couple of changes are needed. -

Max Clegg according to the Kings Website. SNAP ASH !!!!!!!!! -
Good news and bad news for Kings with new averages. Good that Verge has dropped to reserve - that should help him a lot. Bad that Couzins has moved into main body - he will really find it hard from now on. Real pity Ellis is not appearing.

Coventry Storm V Kent Kings - Friday 15th May - 7.30pm
blueherb777 replied to NeilWatson's topic in National League Speedway
With a 14 point lead and NO Greenwood I am hoping the Kings progress. With Kings top 4 of Morley,Ayres,Shanes and Baseby hopefully getting enough points. -

Falcon you are correct with your views. The crowd looked well down (but a certain person keeps saying otherwise but never gives any figures). Also correct about the track that a blue groove appears very quick and with the track being so slick is hard to pass on. -

And so are your replies which give no figures ! I am saying what I see,so please tell all what the crowd was ? What crowds are the Promotion happy with ? -

I understand what you are saying regarding the crowd last night,as when I moved under the main stand there was a lot of noise and the crowd looks OK. But if you stand away from the main stand and look at all the empty seats, then you can see how much less the crowds are compared to what they were previous. Perhaps the crowd sizes are big enough for the promotion (I do not know what the expectation is). Yes the Car Park was well populated, but when there is a really decent crowd the cars are parked all the way down the road. -

I agree. With the curfew extended on a Friday,I am hoping Kent move up to the Premier League. -

Without doubt Kings best performance of the season. First time we have seen reserves that were less impressive (my kind way of putting it)than the Home teams? I was expecting more from Storm although Greenwood was as impressive as ever around Central Park. Again the track was too slick for much (if any) overtaking. Will a 14 point lead be enough ? I was standing near the second bend and the crowd looked very sparse in the main stand, which was a shame on a lovely evening. Finally have to say that Ayres improvement since last season is what this League is all about. -

Congratulations James on winning the" Master of Midshires" Grasstrack meeting yesterday. -
Kings will need to take some sort of lead into second leg at Coventry Friday. I think Storm will be too strong over the two legs. Weather set fair for tomorrow.

blueherb777 replied to blueherb777's topic in National League Speedway
Agree about the track. You should not see a blue groove so early in a meeting. Had this problem a while now. I can only think that Mr Cearns does not want to spend money to improve track. -
A bit of a late topic, but oh well. A close meeting between I would say two evenly matched teams. KENT; Again Kent are let down by lack of strength in depth.ELEVEN Heat wins but no back up as Kent also had ELEVEN 0 scorers ? Morley his usual solid display and again backed up by Ayres and Shanes.Baseby I would expect more and I cannot believe Shepherd scored 7 ? Heat 12 he crawled over line after Bacon went down ? MILDENHALL; Kent were lucky Halsey had a poor meeting.Impressed with Mountain and Bacon (although he faded as meeting went on)Kingston looked the same as he rode for Kent (very in and out). I have said before Kent need a change or two to be really competitive in this League. Also I thought crowd was OK nothing more in size ( waiting now that to be argued !)

Rye House Vs Kent 2/5/2015 Cgnl
blueherb777 replied to Sings4Speedway's topic in National League Speedway
Can I just answer some comments above about Shanes. 1) How can you judge a rider after ONE ride ? 2) He said before Rye House was not his favourite track ! 3) He is without doubt the most entertaining rider in this League. 4) By getting injured, that without doubt cost Kent the win. And finally I hope he is not too bad as he will be a massive miss for Kings. -

I know the crowd was way down on the Eastbourne meeting ( I was there ) I just wanted some figures from someone supposedly in the know. The silence is deafening. -

What was the crowd then ? Or I should say what roughly was the crowd ? Was it way down on the Eastbourne meeting ? With all your different hats on at the Club, you are bound to give the crowd size some sort of spin. -

blueherb777 replied to blueherb777's topic in National League Speedway
Hi Nikko, agree with your post. To say on the Website it was a `bumper`crowd was just wrong.A bumper crowd was the 1ST Meeting ever against the so called American team.If Monday night was a bumper crowd then what was the crowd against Eastbourne ? That was much bigger so must be a MEGA crowd. It just seems that crowds at Central Park are going down each season which is sad. We are told each season that the side has been built to win some silverware, well I can say again this season that the side is a long way off that and it is part of the reason for the crowds going down for a stand alone Club. The ONE shining light is the signing of Shanes who is a real crowd pleaser - pity there are not more like him.
