Bruce Penhall, did do his bit for speedway, but for me I can only remember the geezer who threw the race at White City, and the cowardly turn his back on the crowd when they let him whagt they thought of his actions. The same guy who walk away from Cradley speedway, without a second glance to taker up a role in an American television programme. Sorry but for me the guy was a sugary sweet I will tell you what you want hear kind of guy, bubble gum kid.

As far as I know the this years under 15 championship has been cancelled. -
Scott Nicholls
spin king replied to pirate paul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well done Scott, and this puts him in with a good chance of a top 8 finish, as for Bomber, I think that the win in Cardiff, might go against him for the Grand Prix or to after it, but lets be fair the win has put him into a favourable position, and at least it looks like for a long time now we might just have 2 top 8 riders. -
This is an excellent post, been a Sheffield fan Kenny was part of the enemy when he rode for Halifax and Bradford, who were a local rivals, but that did not stop me admiring the guy for his sheer will to win. I feel that Kenny had a goal, and would push his body and mind to the limit, and was totally focused on those goals. I also felt that when Kenny went part of British Speedway died, and I totally agree that he has never been replaced, in fact I don't think that there has been anyone like him since, the only rider who I think comes anyway near him is Nicki Pedersen. I once said this before and was crucified for it, but the point that I was trying to put across is that Nicki too is someone who will push himself that extra to try and win. Yes love him or loathe him Kenny Carter was a fantastic speedway, and the tradegy is he never fulfill the promise that he had, like his personal life it is so sad.

Try Redcar they have regualr sessions that are run by Brin Havelock, form what I hear he puts rookies through there paces properly.

Well we were stuffed well and truely, okay there are lessons to be learned, and I don't know whether we will be hosting the Final next year, but if we are I hope that we speak to the riders that we have then we need to ask our own riders how they want the track setting up. Other nations do it, and I fed of us been too nice and setting up fair tracks when nobody does the same. I also think that it is time to say a big thank you to the nice man Middlo, and ask him to take over the Under 21 team. I think that it is time to tell him that he has taken them as far as he can, and time for someone else to have a go. Who do we ask to do it, well for me it is a two man job, I reckon we need a old head who has been there and has a vast experience, for me that man is Eric Boocock, if Eric does not want it then what about the Smiling Peter Adams, with the experienced man I would have a rider coach to go with him, and this would be a younger man, my choice would be either Havvy, Mark Loram or an outsider Martin Dugard. I think that we need to see us put our faith in the youth that we have within our system, we need to too start to introduce the likes of Bridger, Woffineden and put exta faith in the likes of Eddie Kennett. What we don't need is when putting together the British Final, letting the likes of Chris Louis and Havvy into the British Final, we need to encouraging riders for the future. I reckon we can win the WTC, in the future, but this could take about another 5 years, we need to start looking into the youth of what we have and invest time and money on them, this is what the Danes have done and they have reaped the benefits.

My heart says GB, my head says Poland, only one other thing to say COME ON TEAM GB.

World Cup At Coventry
spin king replied to Gemini's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Does anybody know why Billy Hamill not in the USA squad. -
No AJ that makes the Swedes even easier to beat, really starting to fancy our chance in this event.

Ron was an Aussie if I remember rightly.

I think that I would keep the team as it, no need to change it, Nicholls and Harris pick themselves, add Rico who has a brilliant record in the WTC, and we hav a good top three. Because he is in good form this season I don't think that you can ignore Eddie Kennett, the main worry is Super Simon Stead, I am massive fan of his but his form seems to have dipped lately, but he is more experienced than Ollie Allen, so I would keep Ollie at reserve.
-
What about John Davis, Denis Sigalos, John Cowboy Cook, Jim Airey, Kai Neimi, Mitch Babyface Shirra.
-
I think that the key to this side is Lee Richardson, who over the years has rode well for Team GB, even though his form has not been great. Maybe the reason for putting David Howe at reserve is that we have a rider on form at the moment who can come in and take over anyone who is not on form. As for his performance as the wildcard on Saturday iI thought that David Howe did really well.
-
Got to say that I find the fact that David Howe at reserve a surprise, with Kennett not too hot around Brandon, Steady just back from injury, surely Howe was worthy of a full place.

Humble Pie Anyone ?

I will admit that I thought it was to soon for him, and have been eating the alphabet spahgetti ever since. Long Live the King Bomber Harris. -
Asked by a workmate if I had been to Cardiff, the guy said how much he had enjoyed the racing on Sky, he is going to take himself and his Missus of to Sheffield to watch the speedway.
-
Just got in from Cardiff, still wet from the rain going back to the coach, but what a magical performance from the man from Truro, you had a feeling all night that he was going to do somwthing that was a bit special, and man did he produce it, and he did it not by getting out of the gate first, but pure speedway racing. I have come away from Cardiff proud of all our boys, all of them have have booked there places for the World Cup team, and yer know what I reckon we can do it, after that performance tonight from Bomber we fear nobody. Well done Bomber and thank you for make all us Brit Speedway so very very proud.

Reg was a good rider, but I would not put him into one of the top entertainers.

Have to agree with the fact I too cannot understand how you could miss Shawn Moran of the list.
-
Bob did pay a visit to Sheffield last season, cannot remember what he said he was doing at the time.

Like I say I can only go back to 77, and for four season up to 80 Doug rode number 1.
