  1. Was not Ron Mountford the father of Stuart Mountford who rode for Stoke I believe in the 70's.
  2. I remember seeing in either a book or magazine the state of his leg afterwards, an his leg was a complete mess, you would not thought it would be possible to ride a speedway bike let alone nearly win a World Title with that injury.
  3. Well done to the Bomber, a very good showing in his first Grnd Prix, lets hope that he can keep it up.
  4. Yeah and he only won one World title, it is hard to believe and seems so unfair.
  5. Really looking forward to this issue, DJ was a favourite of mine, love to know what his favourite track and least favourite tracks were. Do we have any information Tony on what else will be in the mag.
  6. Talking of old Finnish riders does anybody know what happened to Illa Teromaa.
  7. The guy was awsome, and did most of it passing other riders as he was not that hot a gating.
  8. Truely brave performance from PC, and to think he went so cl;ose to pulling off another victory, sometimes makes me wonder if had have won that night would it have given him the push to even more titles.
  9. I remember him well start out at Belle Vue, I think but ended his career at Cradley Heath if I remember rightly.
  10. Is Hautamki, any relation to the rider who rode in the British League in the 70's Pekka.
  11. Yeah and he was supposed to be his best friend as well.
  12. But he was absolutely wild though was he not.
  13. Well done to the Paines, and anybody else who is connected with this venture, I really hope that it is a success.
  14. Could anybody help me, could you please tell me where the ill fated Doncaster speedway track was situated in Doncaster, and who were the promoters and the riders who rode there.
  15. I nerver saw Clive Featherby, or should I say that I am too young to remember him, but I know that he tells me that Clive was a rider that never took no prisoners.
  16. That is quite a decent team Shazzy.
  17. I remember Alan Molyneaux riding for Sheffield, really surprised at the time as the track was not suited to him, and he had never gone that well at Sheffield. He started out really poor, and seemed to fallout with the then promoter Ray Glover, but towards the end of the season he was producing some really fantastic performances.
  18. Yes they mentioned it in the Speedway Star, which I found very interesting.
  19. Gives hope to the likes of Billy Legg, Nick Simmons and Benji Compton and may others.
