Is having a different opinion to yours not debating?you are entitled to yours of course. Most people i speak to know he should be punished and he will be but if the Poole fans most of them can forgive and move on why can't the rest of us.I don't want to see another top class rider go by the wayside,he should be punished but not to the extent where his top class career is over.
-
Thanks alot Steve.

Says somebody who has never made a mistake in his life, and how do you know he is a pi.....d .?Tell you what when he comes back and rides for Poole why don't you go to the pits and tell him and his mechanics to there faces.!
-
Terrible really,a disgrace how can these people in power not be challenged? Ffs how long does it take January 2015 is a joke and they should not be able to get away with it.
-
No you are not boring, the stats the history the records are what the present day riders want to aspire to.
-
What an underrated rider he was, when Briggs was at his best Jim was one of a few who could give him a race at the abbey.I really enjoyed watching Jim a terrific rider old school but he was a gentlemen and he was still a force when he dropped down into the NL.These articles are a brilliant read, and its great that Jim still loves his speedway a true Legend for me.

Steve what records do you use and what do you think are the more accurate? also could you help me on a query about Mauger was his 11.74 average deducted somewhat because of a tactical ride or something?.Looking back i think Mauger had two years where he averaged 11.50 the other rider was Hans Nielsen.

Confidence in most sports is a massive thing,if you can get on a roll earn some money that often means more money will go back into there aquipment is that easy anough for you to fathom Steve ??

You don't have to be a genius to work out that gating is his Achilles heel, but this year he will get more meeting,s he will be sharper. And actually Leicester being a challenge to him might improve him technically most of the racy tracks at his best he is a force how many did he score at Sheffield last year? At the tighter tracks he has struggled but he could improve being at Leicester he might do that even at a worst scenario he will do well at reserve no doubts.
-
If you ride three times a week which he will do most weeks ,last year he went sometimes weeks without a meeting he will be sharper confidence breeds money.

Thanks Dave very much, a 4.93 or 5.31 average is quite a difference but Bamford will do for me .
-
Totally right about Rob legend i trust him bigtime ,,Dave he is spot on for me and as i have said i took Rob's figures as gospel for the swindon 67 championship side. Also i know it is off the subject a bit Malc Holloway was my favourite rider alongside Briggo and Mike Lee his first season in the 1980 as a full time BL rider he averaged 4.93 the other site said 5.31 a big difference for me.
-
I have been putting together all of my memorabilia of the 1967 Swindon championship side. Are the averages on the speedway riders history and results website accurate ? do they include extra matches challenges (ect).Because some of the averages differ, i usually go for all the official yearbook books and the speedway star for the averages, With the 67 Swindon side i went with the figures in the official history of Swindon speedway book.I also looked for the average of Mauger in 69? i thought it would be 11.74 that was different what figures do any of you go by.?

I listen to what Starman has to say whether he is right or wrong, yourself i don't take you seriously.I can't remember you ever really debating any subject positively, always a dig here and there and go back through your posts there is a massive trend there with Poole speedway.Starman say what you like about him but he is passionate and he does know his speedway as for you there is not alot of evidence that show me that you know yours.
-
Punish him of course but believe me speedway is a better place with Ward in it no doubt about it.The disgraceful thing is that this has not been dealt with by now touch wood he will be able to resume riding in March. He has to then buckle down and do what he does best ride speedway i want to see the best ride and he is certainly in the top five riders in the world. Any post on here that you post about POOLE or WARD people on here do not take you seriously. You are deluded why dont you ever speak about Ipswich your supposed team? why are you so obsessed with crucifying Poole if i were you i would be worried there must be a word for your condition.
-
You talk trash fool anti POOLE to the extreme laughable really, take a deep breath is the the sport better with Ward in it or without him surely there has to be one answer with you though I have me doubts.
-
Spot on,therefore the public don't suffer i want to see the best and he is an amazing talent needs to knuckle down and no more foul ups good luck to him he has a WC in him certainly.

Could Mike Bast Have Been A Force In World Speedway?
stratton replied to stratton's topic in Years Gone By
I went to the White City meeting in 77,and i really expected Bast to put up a show. But to be fair to him he was mugged off he was promised alot of track time practice weeks before the meeting but this never happened. So really looking back it was an impossible task for him it just shows you Penhall struggled that day but four years later he was World Champ. -

It did to the ambitious ones, they knew they had to come over here to reach the top of the tree.Penhall,Ermolenko,Hancock all did it in Penhalls case it took alot as he came from a wealthy background. -

Woods won three USA titles 68,70,72, i am convinced he would of done very well, like himself Autrey a few years later he fell foul of there own authorities and in a way took a year or two away from him.Alan Christian is another one who i believe would of done well but he didnt want to make the commitment. -
Could Mike Bast Have Been A Force In World Speedway?

I think Bast had the ability but maybe was there something inside telling him he was not that confident in his own ability.i think if he had gone to Wimbledon he would of done well at home but i am not so sure about him on his travels. At the likes of the big tracks Sheffield,Halifax,Swindon,Exeter,Belle Vue that's where my doubts lay. After Keeter, Autrey showed the way came over in a tough era came out of his comfort zone and became an outstanding rider why didnt Bast do the same?.I have seen alot of Bast interviews and he seems a real nice guy and was comfortable with how his career went i admire that i wonder if he has any regrets.? -
The guy might be decent, i follow the Scorpians and i admire the promotion but this risk of a signing is a mega risk. The PL is a tough league and both Jorgenson and Birks fired out is a risk.

Get to January and hopefully this will be over, and hopefully? i have grave doubts Darcy can get back to what he is best at racing speedway bikes. He has made mistakes some bad ones and he needs to take a low profile and get over this any other mistake could be terminal. His career reminds me so much of Michael Lee any mistake people are down on him like a tonne of bricks. Now it is down to Darcy a great rider a real talent now go and show us what you are capable of.
