  1. I agree six month's is about right he has served two so July could be a return date.Wouldn't it make more sense to give him a massive fine, and have a suspended sentence hanging over him anymore slip ups and the next time could be terminal for his career.I say this because (ie) his GP career is in tatters at the moment his own fault of course that is a massive punishment in itself. And also the public are not punished as well being denied the chance of seeing him ride.
  2. if that's the case i am sure Poole will release him for nothing get real!
  3. Hopefully with the balls up that has gone on in this case, is the hearing a week later now 15 th January? will go in Ward's favour. What incompetence showing disdain more than anything to Ward's employers nothing ever mentioned about that hopefully they will have to back date the punishment.
  4. Remember this meeting very well Eaces 1',it started after torrential rain and how the meeting finished is beyond me.Lee got filled in in his first race then ended up beating Gundersen and Nielsen and Nielsen again in a run off.I loved the BLRC at Hyde Rd a great occasion, that month Lee also ended up winning the pride of the east meeting destroying Nielsen again in the meantime.
  5. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PuEbY-rrj5w - arthur sissis live in action https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bO8khftZ7T8 - your song link Some interesting stuff i can remember watching Arthur in 2010,and remember a few on here saying how good he looked in some after the meeting spins Sheffield have done well to get him.
  6. What i meant Norbold was before Coventry became a regular venue for years since the 70s, Briggs won it in 65,67,69 at West Ham ( a big track)so it was used for a few years. British Finals in midweek was what made it exciting, just like the Derby at epsom downs i disliked Coventry as a track i always felt they should never have had that meeting. But that meeting there was an occasion, great crowds the track under Olchitree it was prepared great and apart from Malc Holloway being eliminated in 82 i enjoyed every final i went to.
  7. How good "Tsunami"? In your opinion i can remember seeing him beat Ward in junior racing and he looked exciting. Its great that he wants to ride speedway again i believe the Tigers have a real coup hope he does well for the Tigers.
  8. How good was that line up Hunter ?in 75 ending in a classic race one of the best i have ever seen two English legends Wilson and Ashby in a run off for a place in the final.Ray said on his DVD that Martin could of been dirty but he was not that kind of rider a fair sportsman. Before 75 those line ups were ultra strong and at different venues was West Ham a regular venue.?
  9. Spot on as a example Belle Vue had Mauger,Sjosten,Wilkinson,Collins, as a top four one year,Ipswich had Louis,Sanders,Davey,Swindon had Briggs,Ashby, alot of sides then had a GENIUNE top two heat leaders. Now they are not there,i agree the top riders now would be on par with the top boys then but then i could name thirty top class heat leaders in class riding in the BL can you now?.I know the averages were inflated then gate positions (ect) but i would say it was harder then ie) because of the track sizes. There were so much variation more challenging i believe on a weekly basis i know i am living in the past but i still believe it is true.Today most people would put Wolves in the top two tracks in the country then that track was nowhere near the top six Hyde Rd,Halifax,Sheffield,Swindon,King's Lynn,Exeter,Wimbledon,Hackney all of those tracks were better in my opinion just shows you the difference between now and then.
  10. Did you go to Wembley? different gravy i am afraid, not always great racing but the atmosphere was electric nothing in England /Wales compares to the old Wembley.
  11. Totally agree but some people are sucked in by a decent GP series, great to watch but by god it has totally destroyed our league racing.
  12. Thanks alot Steve i always believed it was 11.74,what an average eh in 35 matches. When most teams had an out and out number one and usually two decent heat leaders as well those days are well gone in England now.
  13. How is he a serial failure?he has won a GP hasn't he god whenever i have seen Chris he always gives his best and is a real racer. For the life of me i cannot believe the s... Bomber gets on this forum unreal to be honest.
  14. There are quite alot on here who are anti Poole though you can't deny that, you being the biggest one.And there are some other supporters who are very impartial, Poole ones included in this and see both sides and have said so on this forum. To be fair to Starman i know he is staunch Poole through and through but he at times has been critical of certain thing's.Also he has said that Darcy has to be punished, so he is not in denial but like me he thinks some of the stuff that has been written is way over the top.We all agree punish him,but lets put it in to context (Suarez gets four month's after biting for the third time now he is back he is aloud to carry on with his career hopefully Ward can as well.
  15. I do respect your point of view and there are alot of people who feel like you but there are alot of people who feel the other way.Forget what Ward has done for a minute but the biggest sin is that this has not been dealt with swiftly if anything this might of done Ward a favour. Also as Starman has said he Ward has spoke to people and shown remorse ok he has not shouted from the rooftops but he is sorry.Because the FIM ave acted so poorly on this issue, Ward legally might have a good case to keep the ban down.
  16. Why is it irrelevant? a string of indiscretions that had nothing to do with speedway not on the track anyway. His other mistakes neither of us know the true facts, also i have never heard Ward blame anyone else for his mistakes. So going back to this speedway issue he has made one mistake on the speedway side of things is that right or wrong.?
  17. Why is it nonsense ?you want him severely punished at all costs that's your way of looking at it.Be interesting to see overall what most speedway fans think? punishment YES but how severe that's another thing.
  18. What about yourself? have you made mistakes or are you the perfect human being? god anyone would think he was a mass murderer.
  19. I hope you are right because of the mess they have made of this issue, come March he might have already served his sentence.? Six months wouldn't it be better to give him a massive fine, give it to charity and tell him any more foul ups it will be severe next time. All this hassle and time to give a six month ban surely not, well this is speedway i suppose anything is possible.
  20. As good as the GP series is, i still believe it does not compare to the one off final meeting's never will in my book.Time has moved on i know, but the excitement of those nights were electric Cardiff does not compare.
  21. Do you think giving away two years of your career to the likes of Tai/ Emil is a big ask? Punish him certainly that is to severe though.
  22. I have always maintained the Star is still great value, i still prefer the winter months editions though.I actually think producing a weekly edition is harder now as most of the news the fans already know.Phil i believe takes in what the supporters say and want so the Star will keep on going for another Fourty years plus i hope so anyway.I still would prefer the old style one picture on the front though, just a little gripe there i look forward to the Kelvin/Joe articles.
  23. To give the likes of Tai,Emil, and others two years, all of them will be reaching there peak is a massive ask .Even with someone who has his amount of talent i have my doubts.
