  1. Briggo, Moore,T.Jansson, Hedge, Tatum,Ross, Jancarz.
  2. Jansson Lovaas, D.Morton, Plech, Thommo, Petersen, Loram not bad eh!
  3. Crewe i believe was a massive track, and it just shows how good Crump senior was. I think if i am right he had little experience on big tracks Mildura was not overly big.As the WK says Crewe had some terrific riders, i think i might of seen Flood in second halves at Swindon and after the meeting spins i think he signed as a no 8 for the robins.?
  4. Gary Flood looked a very talented rider, had a one and only great season with Crewe. What happened to him? did he go back to moto cross racing often wondered what he could of achieved.
  5. Is being placed in 12 rounds (ie) semi finals minimum, harder than say winning 6 rounds? i would say winning six rounds should be a lot more rewarding is it at the moment in it's form.? As for everyone being able to enter the qualifying system everyone has a chance that is a myth.A lot of riders just can't afford it, a lot of young riders i would imagine would love to say enter the under 21s it is just not viable. Travelling to places like Slovenia with no financial help,it is impossible did Joe Haines say that?.The GP series is in affect a closed shop if you have wealthy parents or backers maybe but everyone on the same playing field as years gone by NO.
  6. No Oldace he isn't silly!! i liked Mark i think to win the world championship without winning a round is a different QUALITY? To win a one a one off meeting is a massive achievement, a GP Scenario is so different .
  7. Was that 1965? Four performances at the abbey that i think were great performances.1.Eric Boocock (1974) a reserve ? For Halifax 14 pts Crash beat him? 2. Finn Thomsen (a oversized engine) ? was awesome 19 pts ? I think 3. SIgalos ( a 15? Max from reserve ( never met Kilby) and Jankowski for the hawks a max.
  8. He did and you are right we all know the USA and AUSTRALIAN rounds were brutal and unfair. But then on the other hand Mark Loram won a world title without winning a round so has the GP Series always been fair?In saying that i was a big Loram fan and he won it having knowing what the rules were.
  9. Is that also true now? not every underdog gets the chance too compete! as we know it is a bit of a closed shop very hard too gatecrash ask NKI.
  10. Ivan lost that title in1973, through his own mistake swings and roundabouts really, no one ever says that Ivan was very lucky in 1972 he was! Briggs crash and also Olsen,s fall gifted him the title but that was the beauty of the one off final.Out of the years of the one off finals mostly the right riders won maybe not always in the right year?.I went to Norden Muller was the best rider on the day no doubt about it Lee and Sanders had there chances but didn't take them.
  11. Knutsson was often overlooked, for me like Ronnie Moore right up there with the best.I think Olsen was the best rider i see after Briggo Mauger certainly up there too.Recent years i would put Crump top of the pile, as for Holder often underrated and at this time in front of Ward and i believe he will win another world title.
  12. Muller thou was understated, a class speedway rider who had ample practice time at Norden. For me Lee should of won his second title messed up but really Billy the kid could of won it Egon muller was a class act like Wiggy a great overall motorcyclist.!
  13. Great post Briggo was a legend, i first went with my uncle and he always said Briggo had to come from the back he said often on the handicap Mark. But when i see him he gated quite well but the best for me didnt see lots of him but he to me was mr excitement also a class man autographs having time for fans the best for me LEGEND.
  14. Scunny for me are favourites for the PL , a really good line up no big changes but they are the team to beat.Josh , Howe toft jorgensen BIrks loads of improvement Douglas I think is a class act also I believe at Sheffield koppe will do well the minimum he will be exciting too watch.!
  15. Thommo Garrad, Hughie, Fiala, Hubbard,Woods,Goodwin.
  16. Koppe will be decent, if you have done your research? has beaten Auty ,Josh,G in Australia looks exciting a real racer.I think Owlerton will suit him bigtime he is a exciting rider i have only noticed him because I am a big fan of Josh Auty and followed his progress plus his dad was a well good rider he had a great career.K
  17. Friddy believe me if Sheffield go to Sunday's Stead will be a in and out no 1 and they will have a chance this year they odviously never had a true no 1.Franc i don't know because of long track commitments whether he will stay hope so Hall and Haines i think could be a better year for the tigers.
  18. Steady a no brainer really Shooey, Reg WIlson ,Valentine, Dougie and the Prawn at Pl level were in and out no 1s at there best very very good at Owlerton i think get Stead back they will challenge again, Haines i am chuffed has done well and will improve not all doom and gloom but the Tigers i think should be minimum top 4 every year.
  19. Is this era more at the moment about potential? some terrific talent about but SPEEDY you are right qualification (when everyone has a chance?) is everything in my opinion.
  20. Koppe i mentioned last year amazed no one got him heard he had a good job.?Would be a good signing for the Tigers and i think he would do well at Owlerton.
  21. If you change race nights? be great if Steady can ride for the Tigers.I think he can average near on 11 at home? i certainly want him back at Swindon and Mark my words he will do better no problem. If you don't change race nights maybe Steady would have to go elsewhere hope it is Sheffield though.
  22. A great debate and for me this is what this forum is all about.Philip fair play is a big supporter of the gps he would be!! but he has some big points and substance and he is convinced the series is in good hands.TWK is a bit like me i believe ?stuck in his ways a tradititionist but isn't scared of progress but not at any cost.?Humphrey a brilliant read and i enjoy all his posts can British speedway get back on track? i have my doubts.
  23. I don't think we are all knockers of the gps i am not, but i don't see it as this big great saviour for speedway.I still don't think it compares to the one off night never will. The PL i like a lot it is more varied and i think the EL might have to copy it too survive or maybe even have one big league.Am i wrong? does some of the crowds at some of the gps look average.
  24. What i mean is forget about the stars, cut the cloth accordingly and that would cut costs and have riders who want to ride in Britain. Also you have to remember in the series there are only a few making mega money(they deserve it ) but it's only a little bubble doing well. You are right about Britain the age factor of fans and i think they're is a hard road ahead to get new ones. For me waiting for a GP once a fortnight isn't my cup of tea give me a good old team match anytime. Also Phillip do you agree ?some of the crowds don't look great at the GPS and how many of those all pay to get in.?
  25. Philip how can you say the EL has not suffered because of the GPseries.?Course it has now we are not getting the benefits from it why not break away from it.Are you interested in Speedway as a WHOLE or just as a little bubble and a lucky few i have enjoyed some of the series but there also has been some average stuff too. Also some of the crowds don't look great either British speedway dosent,t always help itself but do BSI compensate? British speedway for the disruption it causes the British calendar. Also you cannot be impartial and see the big picture can you?
