Agree with the TWK, Philip is in his own world that in the world of Speedway it is all rosy in the garden.Far from it Speedway is more than just the GP circus.Overall as a sport it is going downhill fast and i would be lying to myself to say otherwise.I would like British speedway to move on now before it is too late the PL is a good product but the EL league needs to stop bowing down to the rest of the world. Also as discussed before the series has certain individuals creaming it out of the sport at a lot of other people's exspence. Is the sport in better shape now than the 60s, 70s,80s a big NO and there is a big danger of having no speedway in Britain in 10 years time.?

Finn Jensen was the biggest enigma i ever saw ride, top class one minute a novice the next could never understand it and he had a terrific riding style. What other riders in other fans memory come close to Jensen in there opinion.?Clive Hitch who i first saw when i first started going i always thought he was inconsistent was exciting to watch a unique style straight back upright. In his career he got 6 paid maximums so he was in no way like Jensen they're must of been loads of others.?

Barry Briggs 6 Blrc Wins Did Anyone See Any Of Them.?

Spot on WK,i wasn't a fan either had Bob Kilby off at the abbey once in a terrible move.Never see him there at his peak, but was still a massive force a great gater in my opinion. -
Barry Briggs 6 Blrc Wins Did Anyone See Any Of Them.?

Collins, and Olsen were the best i saw live at Hyde Rd, Morton Carter and Crump senior were not far off either. The BLRC was a tough meeting 1983 was a very good meeting conditions awful. But out of all my visits i think it was only dry twice i also got there for a few posponements is it ever dry in Manchester.? -
I wondered whether anybody on here had seen any of Briggoe,s brilliant 6 BLRC wins?maybe Dave?.I wondered if there was any footage of his wins? he must of been magic to watch around Hyde Rd suited his attacking style. The greatest rider in history for me 18 world finals, 4 times winner, rostrum 6 times ,6 times British title winner(mega line ups) and 6 times BLRC winner. Some cv that and endless other titles a true LEGEND i was lucky enough to see a bit of his later career.

Chris Holder World Champion
stratton replied to T.N.T.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The speedway star in my opinion is very good value the GP series is covered very well. I buy a lot of magazines boxing news, the monthly Arsenal magazine and others and most of those are priced 4.80 upwards. So in comparison they are doing very well indeed to keeping the price below 3 pound. -

BFd you say to much! you are way out of line stick to Cricket. -
You are right, i was a supporter of the old one off final but year after year certainly did not have all of the best riders in the final. Now they have a chance of all of them being in it, and there are about 6 others knocking on the door. With the young guns i have been totally wrong felt when the old guard fell away the quality would be thin.Far from it and i am chuffed i was wrong with Holder, Ward,Janowski,Smarzlik, Dudek, x 2 Pawlicki, X2 Jensen the future is bright pity the EL is going t...s up.!
-
Vic,i like Harris, NIcholls, Auty, Cook, Barker,Kennett, Worrall,Woffinden, nothing would be greater if a few of them got on hope so Cook i have a feeling has a chance not a bad gater.

What is the Scenario of Scunny qualifying EC.?
-
What was Pawson,s background? i see him a couple of times once at Swindon and Plough lane. Was that just before Brewer and Tatum but about the same time as Knowler? could you tell us all you Dons fans!!
-
I am not setting a case for Woffinden,he shouldn't get one either and if it is close MJJ might get one.Not in front of AJ and Hampel though but my point is why have a qualifier?
-
Entire season? averaged under 7.60 in the EL and did not qualify through the qualifier on the pressure night why should he get a card why have a qualifier.?
-
I agree, with the competition fierce for spots MJJ has not done enough to get a place. He has had all the help and more opportunities than most and got 0 in the pressure meeting. His time will come as he has amazing ability but i think he will come in with the likes of Dudek,Janowski, when the older statesmen drop out.
-
Scunny should take a lot of credit with MPT started slowly this year but stuck with him always believed in him.A example to other clubs change for change sake often backfires.Glasgow have done this with Campton and he looks a prospect and O'Malley could come back and still make it over here.DId Josh tonight make any decent starts or did he have to come from the back.?

What comes around comes around,! Pedersen was unlucky tonight but his reputation went against him.Holder was a deserved winner but fair play Pedersen was a gracious loser and i admire him for that.He never undeservedly won a fourth world title great news in my book. -
Chris Holder World Champion
stratton replied to T.N.T.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well done Chris, come to the abbey on monday as the new world CHAMPION well deserved enjoy the moment and you can win more. -
Not at the age of 17 Philip! wIll he be aged 21 then? cant wait too see him in the series though.
-
Agree with everything, would be brilliant for the sport if Chris wins it and for himself.I think he will do it Pedersen is a world class rider but I've never been a fan.More really because of the way he goes about things his manor and I will be rooting for Holder. If Pedersen wins it credit where it is due but I couldn't rate him anywhere near the likes of Briggs, Olsen,Nielsen.
-
Was gutted Batchelor didn't qualify had it in his grasp i think he would of been a great addition to the series. Was chuffed Iversen qualified that was justice as he has been outstanding this year and the Danish federation has treated him shabbily this year in my opinion.!I think Troy can take heart of what NIels has done this year and he can come again he has the talent to do it.What happens now with Jensen? does he get a pick does he deserve one close call i think.

Lee in a way his body and shape made him the rider he was he was agile so quick on a bike. The biggest thing for me was his dad as a partnership they were terrific.MIke as we know has great knowledge of engines but looking back his dad Andy was way ahead of his time and where there set up was close knit they often changed things because of his dads vast skill and knowledge.
