  1. But Craig has pretty limited exsperience ,at speedway thou certainly at a high level.Age means nothing John tiger Louis proved that was he aged 29?when he started speedway.
  2. I don't see Woffinden that far in front of some of the Brits I still think Harris is the best when he is on decent equipment.?Cook and Auty are the best long term prospects out of the REST in my opinion.Even those two have a long way to go,but both are on the up and have both improved a he'll of a lot.Cook is a better gater but Auty is a better racer and can pass on a regular basis as his gating isn't the best.Woffinden too me has to have a season when he rides regular no injuries shows a bit more consistency then he might deserve something at the moment I would say no.
  3. Matt you are right ,and maybe the sport is scared of change? I think your points are good and that is the way to go.But Speedway has it ever changed for the better? Why I am negative are my kids they both went when they were younger loved it got to aged 16 and now don't bother. They like speedway still know what's going on but they have loads of other things to do football girlfriends (ect). I think new fans from the age of 15/21 is nearly impossible which is worrying but you are right you have to try because old farts like me are not going to be around forever.
  4. How do kids go iin the first place Matt? usually with the Family .Your theory i don't think we would have a sport for very much longer in Britain your idea is total fantasy. At Swindon as you would of noticed it is of all age groups of course we want new fans it's not as easy to do.Most fans I think if they enjoy speedway from a young age stay with it as I have but to get new ones is very hard so look after the ones you have.!
  5. Clive Hitch straight back upright rider was exciting to watch! Also Bobby Beaton.
  6. I have been a fan of Josh since he started, how has he done?I have seen him twice at Swindon and on tv he has really improved I think can pass inside and outside and will get better gating not his strength reminds me of Sean the prawn.How would you Scunny fans ? rate his season so far could he have chance in the PLRC?;
  7. I saw Sigvart Pedersen for Reading?
  8. No in a nutshell, to prosper you need all age groups they are all as valuable.
  9. Kelly and Shawn Moran, J Cook Mcconnell, Lee, Carter ,Loram, B Thomas (and 70s) Ermolenko.
  10. I would trust MIddlos opinion over yours any day of the week! even thou I am a Stead fan.
  11. I thought all the Poles were teetotal ORLOV!!! they like a few shandies then Jacques politely said they were pissed did make me laugh.
  12. A total joke same old faces, I respect MIddlo as a rider, manager, and person big time but it might not be totally down to him? But Bridger and Barker in front of Auty and Roynon? Not right even Kennett who I like dosent deserve to ride Auty, Roynon and Cook should all be included a bit like our football side same old same old.
  13. Bacca would know that as he probably was there ? I thought the 76/77? team didn't have 3 ten point riders ,both the Owen brothers were but riders like Henderson,B.Havelock, and Blackadder were averaging 8 plus as good back up men.?
  14. Well Bacca not to worry I totally forgot Joe had gone full time British league.I always remember in 1979 I think, the robins v Hull drawing 39.39 all Sigalos getting a 15 max (from reserve).I remember i was gutted as I was a big Joe fan ,and he didn't arrive he was a very good rider no doubt about it remember his black leathers with the White stars over the years Newcastle have had some great riders a awesome history.
  15. Who was it bacca ? Joe near 11 ,Tom 10 plus , was Henderson 8 plus? Later on did Hunter average10 plus and Bargh and Thorpe were big hitters.
  16. Hopefully Jason can ride and stay in the hunt, I hope so it also shows how tough Terry Betts was to ride in the 1974/w/final at Gothenburg in his one and only final.
  17. Always thought then Iris the no 1 in the averages always got in? not the top 16 averages? Sometimes Tom Owen would average 10 plus but Joe would mostly be no 1.
  18. Not bad britmet 5th, bearing in mind Newcastle were the kings with legends the Owen brothers .You think with a month left at least 3 of there riders could of reached the NLRC.
  19. Whats wrong with a old one having memories.!!
  20. Was looking through some old stats in 1977, Peterborough had a no 1 with a ave of 7.83 and a number 7 with a ave of 6.35.Would never happen now would it, was amazed really I remember Sheffield in 73 having a similar average scenario. Averages. 1. Hines 7.83. 2.Clark 7.47. 3.Hawkins 7.37. 4.Flat man 7.08. 5.B.Clark. 6.99. 6.Cousins 6.50. 7.Matthews 6.35.The national league teams seemed to have closer averages or am I imagining it.?
  21. Pretty good choices starman ,remember seeing Mark as a 16 year old at the wick couldn't gate then by god he was exciting over the years one of the nice guys too.
  22. I have been a NIcki knocker ,over some of his incidents over the years, but I have always enjoyed watching him race is great with the fans autographs ect. Never a dull moment and puts bums on seats the Alex HIggins of speedway.
  23. No way Swindon, KIng,s Lynn and Sheffield are by far the best racing tracks left in Britain. Was always bemused why Coventry had all those British FInals ?see some good ones 1975 but also some mediocre ones too.
  24. Denmark were the best team end of,and that's from someone who backed Australia.Australia had to have to use the joker to keep tabs on a England at Kings Lynn a rule most of us detest. The Aussies are a proud lot and have great team ethic and are great as a group.Davy did a great job, I don't know the reasons but Ryan has gone a different route in his career I personally would love to see him back in Britain again as he was one of my favourites but the Aussies put on a great show Denmark were just better.
