Glasgow v Berwick Friday 25th July
nagy1 replied to AndiCapp's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Just a general thought. The racing at Ashfield has went downhill since Meredith has been involved. As the saying goes, if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. No need for him to be here. Racing has been great for years without him. -
Not sure what the cause of this is but the timing is absolutely baffling. if it is a cash flow issue, surely this flags up the ridiculous scenario that there are 2/3 weeks in between meetings. The league needs to be 2H2A. If we aren’t doing it because of 1 team a decision needs to be made regarding that team regarding the greater good of the sport. If the authorities (government) have flagged up an anomaly then the timing is outwith everyone’s control. If the BSP have done this on a whim, they have royally screwed Berwick, Oxford and Redcar fans and promoters.

It wouldn’t be worth reading if he did. -

Great score. Stream was decent. Racing came good. Heat 13 was superb. -
Signing Ashton after his performance in the play offs last year was mental. Bottle had gone then. Hope he beats his demons. Remember he is still a young guy.

A great meeting. The racing was a lot better than the score suggest. Well done to all involved. -

Disappointing not to get the 4 points tonight. Petulance and engine problems stood in the way. Bring on tomorrow -
No one. RR at home is more than sufficient. Many apologies for my spelling. An extra “e” is not the hill I will die on.

Absolute shambles tonight. What maniac (we all know what maniac) thought Sedgeman was an appropriate option tonight? Why did we throw away a race by rolling off?

Glasgow /Edinburgh Play Off SF 21 & 22 October

Controlled the match from heat 2 onwards last night. I thoroughly enjoyed my fry up this morning washed down with a pint of Monarchs tears. -
An unrequested and uneducated opinion. Arrived early, track looked fine albeit a bit wet(roads on the way home were very wet). Someone, or some people, made an unnecessary fuss over conditions no one listened to the track curator who said the track will be fine. Leicester representative not happy with the referee because of Friday night, willing to stir the messy stuff to rearrange. All being equal, as a team, the wagons should of been circled and the pressure put on the away team. On a side note, when the chips are down, the young ones always want to give it a go. Well done Mr Thomson.

Massive credit to the track staff last night. Kept the dust to an absolute minimum. Still a bogging shape of track that encourages people to lock up at corners right enough (heat 1 being a prime example). Best wishes to Ulrich. Point dropped for the Tigers -
Some great racing last night. Phenomenal to be back and see people and live racing again. Credit to all that put on the show. Just need the government to see sense and relinquish their unnecessary control over people.

I half agree with you on the Scunny meeting. The more pivotal was getting beat at Leicester. We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. (SJ fell at the last turn) I am ruing the injury to Starke. The difference is you can cherry pick guests for a rider 3rd in your averages. We had to replace Paul or go R/R. Most people prefer to see 7 man teams. Them are the rules and the breaks. Leicester were more fortunate than us. That again is not bitter it is fact
-
Do you know what Mr McGregor's nickname is? I am certainly not bitter. I have thoroughly enjoyed this season. My opinion is that if Glasgow had our full team we would of topped the league and won the playoffs. I do however appreciate that if,buts and maybes are part of sport, but If any Leicester fan seriously thinks they would of beaten Glasgow over two legs if Paul was fit they are delusional.
-
Are you alluding to the way Glasgow didn't allow Leicester to loan Victor? Glasgow would of been happy for your to buy him. If your promotion had played ball with Sarj at the start of the season there wouldn't of been a problem.
-
Oooft. You think McGregor helps Glasgow or has a Glasgow bias? Behave. We beat Leicester by 7 points that night. How would that point of been the difference? Glasgow's bad luck gifted the league to the Lions. If Paul Starke had been riding it would not even of been a fair contest.

There was absolutely no joy on my part that you lot went bust. It was one of the first fixtures I looked for on the calendar. Very rarely missed a Glasgow meeting there. I don't feel for certain fans that they have lost there team though.

It is extremely tedious and a sad reflection on society were people continually try to criticise people for trying to better the sport. The bitterness about Glasgow from people on here is crazy. Glasgow fans weren't putting the boot into Laura when she spent a fortune on Workington were they?
