Rank the averages by differential. As with any sample removing a proportion of the top and bottom scores should even out any unusual performances and leave a sensible figure to use.

Being able to track almost the same team year on year is the best policy where possible. Yes you need a fresh face or two from time to time but loyalty and continuity much preferred in my book. Excellent side and will start as favourites. Sarj will be 5+ min If it is JPB then he will add at least a point. Improvement still there for the 1-5 as well. Thing is Steve to get a team place is what he wants - then he could have the chance to have a fairly assessed average in the CL. The horse has bolted with regard to preventing riders above a certain average dropping down IMO.

It seems GP riders who didnt compete in British Speedway in 2017 are now to be reassesed to 9 as their 2016(or before) averages are not considered an accurate reflection of their abilities. Should this ressessment not then also apply to ANY returning rider without a 2017 attained average? If the principle that 2016 averages and before are an unsound base has been agreed then the reassessment has to be all encompassing IMO.

Then think how it wouldve been with Doyle included at the top end too...
