The facts are straight forward. Newman has ridden in the reserve berth of an elite league side for 6 years. The reasons are either lack of progress, lack of ambition or he is happy just beating inferior riders week after week. He may be a good second string but that's not saying a lot really. Premier league number ones are third heat leaders like Cook was and King is and Newman is and won't be anywhere near their level. Sure he could improve but he seems happy being a big fish down at reserve -
Swindon V Poole Ela 27th March 2016.
Gavan replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Which is also something Ellis can be prone to. Often overlocked when he rode for us and came off a few times, but may have ironed that out. Roynon would if available be very good cover, but as i say Poole could score 3 duckeggs from the number 7 berth and still beat Swindon away so its not really an issue who replaces Ellis -

I agree well done to Newman for getting rides in Poland and as I have already said out of the 2 Garrity is far more reckless. But there is no way in the world that Newman is ahead of Garrity at the moment. All this stuff about Garrity has messed up Coventrys team isn't totally correct. Coventry didnt have to use him did they! They saw his ambition and went with it. Think that You Tube clip shows Newman at reserve in 2011 alongside Nick Morris. Wonder how their careers have gone? Reserve for 6 seasons and now riding against riders he is far superior to isn't doing him any good. -

I don't think Garrity will ride for GB either but at that level he is way ahead of Newman for selection. Higher Elite league average, Higher Premier league average. British Final record far superior and possibly should have made a rostrum. Was reserve and had a ride in a GP. Now Garrity wants to make the next step up and race in a 1-5 and put himself against better riders. Newman currently is racing against EDR riders that he is superior to. No GB manager would select a rider who is happy to beat the likes of Sargeant and Bates , basically premier league second strings, over a rider who wants to better himself. What sort of experience is Newman gaining? None! Kyle is the more stylish of the 2 but he is not even close to ever being taken seriously as a rider for the national side. He will though riding in the Poole team win another title but its not doing much for his own career -
Swindon V Poole Ela 27th March 2016.
Gavan replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
still saying the same old lines from years ago I see! Poole can replace Ellis with a better rider in Adam Roynon so hardly weakened. Even if they had someone who scored zero from three rides they will still beat Swindon as well you know -
not a bad comparison as Janniro had a good career but just short of top class. You would compare Newman to a Ryan Fisher. Elite league reserve who will never be any better than a premier league number 1
-
The squad is usually 10 riders which should be Tai, Harris, Cook, Nicholls, Lambert, King , Stead, Kennett, Garrity and Auty. After the first 5 we are really struggling. King ,Stead and Kennett are not good enough at international level but they are the next best. Garrity shows ambition and is a better rider than Newman or Howarth. Auty is a premier league number 1 and is also better than Newman
-
Nice to see Havvy on Twitter talking about Newman. Spot on when he says it's a lack of ambition and the fact the EDR was designed to bring riders through rather than exploit loopholes to keep him at reserve. And as I say Poole have done nothing wrong just as Havvy says lack of ambition from the rider. Garrity will be in the GB squad and Newman has no chance

I didn't post on the Lakeside thread because Lakeside will not win and thrash people in most of their matches like Poole will is it that hard to understand? And no i didn't enjoy the Ipswich v Scunny match because the track was awful with no dirt. Don't have an issue losing I like to see good racing -

is it rude to say the elite league looks boring? Go back over my posts. Ive only called the one person a pillock and that is what everyone on here thinks of him. Oh and I will call him what I want as he told me to go out and play with the traffic so if he can dish it out but cant take it im not bothered -

dear oh dear you have been told so many times about being a pillock yet you still carry on trotting out the same tripe. Buck is an asset of Frost who is involved with Poole. Now even though you never seem to have the family brain cell I think even you can put 2 and 2 together and see how he ended up at Poole. Quite clearly if Poole wanted Buck he was pretty much likely to line up for them. So please stop waffling on with the same old line of anyone could have had him. In reality his destination was always likely to be only 1 club its a sad state of affairs the way speedway has fallen in this country. The elite league teams have 1 genuine world class rider, then 2 hear leaders who are just about number ones in the premier league followed by second strings who would struggle to be a heat leader in the premier league. Apart from one team whose second strings are the Aussie champion and a rider who is quite clearly a heat leader. And people think I'm going overboard when I say the elite league is watered down and will be the most boring season ever -

i agree with 99% of what you write and nothing wrong with enjoying winning, however the gloating needs to be toned down a bit. The sport is on its knees and one team thrashing the others doesnt help the sport. The elite league looks like being the most boring it has ever been and the sport as a whole is suffering. The other teams look like a premier league side from about 5 years ago, not the standard of a so called elite league. As i say Ipswich , my team, thrashed everyone in 1998. The racing on the most part was dull with 5-1 after 5-1 and i was one of many who simply didnt bother going to the meetings against much weaker sides when i knew i was going to watch processional racing. The sport itself suffers if one or even 2 teams are so much further ahead than the others. Poole get decent crowds, i know that, but how many are going to bother going to watch Poole rack up 60 points against the majority of sides? I pick and choose my meetings now due to cost and i wont bother watching Ipswich against say Redcar or Rye House , but when Glasgow are in town with that strong top 4 i will be there. Must be the same for Poole if Leicester or Lakeside are there the crowd wont be as big for when Belle Vue are in town -

yes Mark did want to stay at Poole I agree with you and yes he wasn't best pleased. But as I say Tony rode for more money than Mark was offered. Maybe Ford thought Tony was worth more than Mark and being truthful he was. Just don't like people lying that Mark was offered or wanted more than Rickardsson. Everyone has a value -

No Mark didnt price himself out. Norrie Allan asked for more money and Poole turned it down, then they signed Tony for more money than Mark wanted. Exactly. Poole paid Tony more then Mark wanted. Spot on! I dont know much about Poole speedway but as i say i know the Loram family well and i know exactly what happened and Tony was paid more than what Norrie wanted Poole to pay Mark -

foreverblue you know more about Poole speedway than me by a country mile and we all know Starman knows nothing. As I've said before I know the Loram family and his old mechanic Jorge is also a good friend of the family. My uncle used to sponsor Mark at Hackney at Ipswich and a bit at Kings Lynn. We have his race jacket from his epic British Final win in the run off versus Louis. Also Mark came to both my aunty and uncles funerals. Matt Ford is a businessman and a very good one. He pays his riders what he wishes. I can 100% tell you that Mark asked for more money (or should I say Norrie did) and Poole refused to pay it. Mark then wouldn't sign so Poole went and got Tony. I can also tell you that they paid Rickardsson more than what Mark was asking for that is a fact. As I say Foreverblue you know more about Poole speedway than I could ever wish to know but with things to do with Mark I am in the know. The line was that Tony rode for less than Mark wanted. He didn't. -

stop talking out your backside you pillock! Why in gods name would Lakeside or Wolves go for him??? Leicester and other clubs simply sont have the finances available to afford the riders that Poole can which has been the case for years right back to when Rickardsson was offered a fortune to replace Mark Loram. Yes Matt Ford is good at business but get your head out of the arse of your club and realise there are other teams, I'm sure you won't be happy until there is just 1 club left who own every rider. Most Poole fans on here we can take. You are an imbecile -

Shows the true attitude of some Poole fans who no matter what feel the need to gloat when they win. Quite sad really. Speedway is the only loser when one team is so dominant but some can't see past the end of their nose I guess. I'm sure they will be happy when the win another title and the sport is at its lowest ebb for many a year. And this isn't a dig at Poole or the team they have built which is quite within the rules it's the fact that the sport is totally suffering and the more clubs suffer the worst it becomes so the need to gloat doesn't show people in a good light -

Doyle will do the Adams part but like most teams the strength in depth is weak. Poole have a top 5 who are all basically heat leaders, and yes in most other teams in the league Kurtz would fill the third heat leader role. They have the strongest reserve in Newman and the strongest of the number 7's in Ellis. Belle Vue have a top 3 that matches Pooles top 3 and their second strings are marginally weaker and so are their reserves. As I said 2 teams miles clear if the rest and with the standard of riders this looks like being the most mundane of seasons and further evidence how the sport is dying And before I get told Kurtz average isn't a heat leader average them look at the ability of the 3rd heat leader in the other teams. Belle Vue have a stronger top 3 that Kurtz isn't as good as, but all the other sides (maybe apart from Lynn) he is at least on a par with the third heat leader. -

why is it claptrap? The elite league looks between 2 teams who certainly won't get beat at home and win by large margins most weeks. I'm an Ipswich fan and we won the league at a canter in 1998 but we thrashed most teams so wasn't exciting to watch. Poole will thrash most teams at home this season so how can it be interesting? The elite league looks as dull as I have ever seen it. This isn't a dig at Poole at all but I'm sure you and the usual suspects like to twist my words anyway. Oh and Steve O says the racing was boring so which was it? . All I'm saying is it looks like a Poole v Belle Vue final and we have hardly had a wheel turned. Not good for the league is it really you come out with some guff! Enjoy your win enjoy the fact there is only 2 capable teams in the league. If this is how you like the sport then there is no hope. The incredulous bias towards your own side is quite unique -
