Premier League Riders Championship - Sheffield 6th Sep
Gavan replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Are you for real?/ Need me to spell it out bit by bit for you??? 1. Danny King has a contract in Poland with his Polish club. 2. This contract is to race in all fixtures unless agreed before the season or F.I.M events which take precedence. 3. This contract includes play off meetings and play off finals should his club get there. 4. The PLRC is not an F.I.M event. I hope that clears up any confusion as to why a rider is riding for his contracted club and not in a league individual. In case it has also escaped your attention most riders have contracts in a number of countrys. Would you expect Danny King to miss play off meetings for Ipswich and Coventry to race in a league individual meeting in Poland So why do you expect him to miss his Polish meetings to race in an individual meeting in England? He has tried to better himself as a rider plus earn a better living by racing abroad, only for people like you to claim he is picking and choosing not to ride? Now please answer me as to why you think Danny King should ride because unless his Polish team were not in the play offs he has to be in Poland. However you are quite quick to stick the boot in so you must know a better reason! -

I think you alll need to look at the reason Danny King isnt riding. Far to easy for people to moan about it when quite clearly none of you can actually be bothered to see the real reason. All i will say yet again, would any of you be happy for your rider to miss the UK play offs to ride in an individual in Poland??? Its nothing to do with turning your back on the UK at all. We moan about riders like Cook not doing Poland and our young lads tryin to better themselves by riding over there, so when someone like King does ride over there we expect them to drop their contracts as soon as there is an individual meeting over here and stick 2 fingers up to their clubs in Poland. Either our riders ride over there and honour their contracts or they dont. Danny King is doing nothing wrong. Disappointing he isnt there granted. -

Mechanical problems??? Gino blew his best and only bike and Stefan had issues before the parade. Or do you mean Sedgeman as he seemed the only Monarch who had a spluttering bike in one heat? You got soundly beaten tonight nothing to do with your bad luck and it would have been by 22 if we hadn't suffered. Granted Cook would have got more than 6 plus 2 form Fisher but if you look at the first leg we were slightly more hindered by riders missing then you were. 2 full strength 1-7 in both meetings would have been a cracking and close contest Ifs and buts?? No we definatly had riders missing at your place and bad luck tonight. How about for once admit you got away with it slightly? You are a better team than us I agree with that but you got lucky. Try to take off those rose tinted specs you wear -

Luck Lucky Monarchs! We should of and would of been through if Gino's bike hadn't gone bang and he had to use Cam's spare machine that wasn't quick at all thus costing him not only the 3 points he was on but also later points. Cam sliding off when comfortable in 2nd as well was costly. But for those mishaps we would have benn level on aggregate and gone through. Before the Monarchs point to no Cook just remember we missed Danny, Nico and Stefan , and had an injured Gino, plus a guest who didn't make heat one, up at your place. Put the 2 actual 7 men up against each other and it would have been mighty close over the 2 legs. As I say Gino and Cam's mishaps tonight meant Edinburgh got away with it -

Coming up to watch this tonight hopefully be a good meeting. If we can get 2 points off Cook and restrict Masters to around 10 we may win the meeting though the tie has gone. You don't know which Wolbert will show up though the fact Sedgeman goes well here is negated by Riss. Our reserves should be stronger at home. Going for 46-44 to the witches -

They wont be banned as the contracts for the Polish League include commitments to the play offs should any team get there. What people need to realise is that its no different to say a Chris Harris or Chris Holder missing the play offs in the UK to ride in an individual meeting abroad that isnt an FIM recognised event, the supporters of Coventry and Poole would be up in arms moaning. Its no different as the Polish fans would not be impressed if one of their riders (i.e King) mised the play offs just to compete in an individual meeting in the UK. Of course as an Ipswich supporter i want Danny to ride but can totally understand the reasons he isnt riding and those asking for a ban sem to think that somehow British Speedway is more superior to the Polish League. As i say how annoyed would you be if your rider didnt ride in the play offs over here because the Polish league had an individual meeting on??? Read my above post its nothing to do with a payday! Its about a contract. As i have stated how would you feel if a rider in your team missd the UK play offs just to ride in a Polish individual meeting? Its exactly the same! If Danny King missed the play offs in the UK to ride in a Polish individual meeting then us Ipswich fans and Coventry fans would quite rightly be annoyed. All he is doing is honouring his contract to his club and missing an individual that isnt a recoginised FIM event at the end of the day. Try to get your head around the reason he isnt riding instead of people assuming its about pay days when its quite simply nothing from the truth. -

Now that's what you call a gp! Those who bang on about Cardiff being great must have exploded watching this. give these guys a race track they can provide this. Huge respect to Holder -
I went on the Darcy thread and stated that the news was awful and to wish him all the best only to be told I had no right to do that because I wasnt a Darcy fan and was a hypocrite! I have always said Darcy the person was a petulant brat with a habit of getting into trouble that was pretty much all his own fault. Only a sick individual would be happy to see what has happened but apparently on this forum if you are not a fan of someone you can't comment. I don't really like Ward the person but never in a million years would I have wished this on him. Get well soon young man
-
what a pathetic post. Many people on here have little time for Ward as a person and this accident does not rewrite the history books. All I can say is there is not one single post that hasn't wished the lad the best of recoveries. Nobody wants to see any rider badly injured so take your pathetic attempts at stirring the pot and stop talking crap
-
Why on earth should the thread be removed? Darcy's past issues are well documented and this accident doesnt change that. I along with all the true speedway fans are sickened by the crash and all hope he pulls through and is eventually back on a bike. To not wish that means you arent quite right in the head. The accidenrt has no bearing on what has gone before so the thread doesnt need to be deleted. Lee Richardson was not my favourite rider after he fenced Mark Loram in the British Final but no way in the world would you want what happenend to him. Darcy Ward great rider to watch but not my favourite character but what has happened is dreadful and i wish him better soon
-
Sorry Sidney but you can't back up Gollob was better than the other 2. You seem transfixed about ability on a bike rather than actual achievement. As I said Gollob great to watch but as good as the other 2 not in my mind. Reminds me of how brilliant Jimmy White was to watch at snooker but yet he was never as good as Steve Davis just check the record books
-
Lewis Blackbird has a very big busines interest outside of the sport. It was already widely know he was retiring at th end of the season to concentrate on the business. After another accident the other night , and seeing what has happenend to Lewis Kerr, he has simply decided to bring forward his retirement so that he can walk away in on piece and i for one dont blame him.
-
It is a fact that Hancock and Pedersen were better than Gollob the stats over a number of years prove that. Fluke 1 off world titles happen, Jerzy, Muller spring to mind. No way was either of them better than Leigh Adams they just had a lucky night or a good night. The difference is Hancock and Nicki have 3 each which quite clearly marks them down as better than Gollob. Gollob definatly more exciting to watch but you seem to have trouble understanding that natural talent and exciting to watch doesnt make them a better rider.

King's Lynn V Coventry Wed 19th August
Gavan replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
not sure what you were watching Sarjeant didnt move at all but if the referee deems he did and excludes him that it makes the Garrity incident irrelevant. Doesn't matter what way you look at it Coventry were robbed I'm heat 12 -
Again totally spot on. Because Ward is gifted, talented and great to watch when coming from the back it doesnt make him any better than a Hancock or even a Hampel type rider. These exciting 'bums on seats' riders tend to have there great day but no consistency as such. Peter Collins , Michael Lee, Mark Loram, Jan O'Pedersen, Billy Hamill Tomasz Gollob all one off world champions and probably in a lot of peoples top ten of most exciting riders they have ever seen. Were they better than Nielsen, Penhall, Gundersen, Rickardsson and Crump? No but they were more exciting to watch. Darcy Ward will be remembered as great on the track if he wins a world title otherwise he is just another very good rider
-
100% spot on. I would rather watch Gollob than Hancock but was he better rider? No he wasnt. Mark Loram is my all time favourite rider to watch but was he better than Rickardsson or Crump? No he wasnt but of a strange response. I will remember Gollobs racing especially at Bydgoscz over probably any race that Hancock was involved in but in 50 years time if someone asks me who was the better rider it has to be Hancock or Pedersen there isnt an argument
-
Got to love a thread where the person who starts it ends up abusing anyone that differs to his opinion. Sidney is one crazy jumped up little man! Back to the thread i think all sensible people have the same opinion that Ward can win a world title but doubt he will. Firstly he is among the top 5 in the world but isnt as good as Tai at the moment. Poeple seem to think that raw talent and being able to make a pass means you are a better rider than someone who makes the gate and rarely gets passed. Tai Woffinden is simply a better rider than Darcy Ward. Its in Darcys hands if he applys himself he can do it but we all know he seems to struggle getting out of the semi finals and that costs him dear. Its rubbish about the theory he cant gate as he can and over a 12 round series he would be ok. The other factor is he would firstly struggle to beat Tai over 12 rounds and with good riders coming through like Magic , and the possibility of Emil coming back makes it harder.

where have I said its a witch hunt? Where have I blamed Edinburgh? I'm simply saying that wether anyone agrees or disagrees with the ban for Tungate , it is quite clear that Sam Masters did far worse. Am I corect in that or are you happy to see your riders punch a stricken rider while he lies on the ground possibly injured? I suggest before you type try reading what people have wrote. I'm sure them you can actually have an adult conversation because you quite clearly struggle to do so
-
i think if you read the posts properly instead of adding your views without facts i think you will actually see we have accepted it. the issue now, as alluded to by Chris Louis, is the fines and bans that will be coming Scunthorpes way for their petulant behaviour and the fact that Lunna and his mechanic attacked a rider. im still in shock how Tungate gets a ban and Masters gets away scot free for ABH. Again im sure Louis has something in place reagrding that to your getting a bit of a sad individual with your tiresome crusade against the witches. Tungate has been punished and we are happy to accept that and move on wether we agree or not. If you think Tungate got of lightly then Masters needs to be banned for the rest of the season

Gavan replied to ZODIAK's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
i wasn't. Glasgow look so much stronger than Edinburgh last week who were a 1 man team. Summers was superb Morris and Lawson just ok but backed up by Sargeant and Ellis correct. Put King off 1 and Nico off 3. Strange choice to put Tungate in
