Chris Harris Cardiff Wild Card
oldace replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sadly though, it probably is. Long gone are the heady days of the seventies when riders really valued the title. Even though it was only part of the qualifying process. No one was bothered about being Commonwealth, Overseas or Inter continental Champion (11th was as good as first) but being British Champ was different -
I am certain their was no intent on Davids part, he committed to that inside pass and was met with Dyer turning back to the inside. It is just an unfortunate incident that happens in racing every now and again. On first viewing i felt Howe caused it, it is only with the benefit of replay that it became more apparent that Mickey was more to blame "End of story"

No it wasn't. The first race was underway at almost on the dot of 7.15PM local time, as always

Chris Harris Cardiff Wild Card
oldace replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I have no qualms with Chris being picked. The wild card for any GP is the choice of the staging promoter for whatever reasons they see fit. Bomber is still probably (just) the British No 2 and its a reasonable call. The drawback is the effect on the so called National Championship, the prospect of winning the wild card gave some meaning to the event which, sad as it is because being British Champion should be incentive enough, has now gone -
Thats fine if you think that, It doesn't matter that fans like yourself have no understanding of racing, fortunately most refs do and in this case called it spot on. He was indeed unlucky, it wasn't 100% his fault but he was slightly more to blame than Howe and so had to go. (end of story) I added that last bit, not because I am a halfwit, but because I think it makes my point more valid

Have you ever read the rules?. The race was stopped and the ref had to decide who was the "primary" cause of the stoppage. Dyer was coming back to the line and pretty much hit Howes back wheel. The ref had to apportion blame and if he judged the accident to be 55% Dyer to 45% Howe then Dyer goes as the "primary" cause. The ref got it spot on.

Watching him struggle with the Queens English was one of the highlights last night. Who on earth is Holy Allen though, he was riding last night according to Sam. Then he moved onto Mick Hortons betting activity before Nigel quickly corrected him -

Might be near mile wise but the Mersey is in the way. Either a big detour or two expensive tunnel tolls make it difficult for the folks the other side of the water -
Thank Christ you kept it short!!!!! If anyone has the will to wade through it perhaps they could let us know if it is anything more than the usual boring garbage

Wouldn't dispute any of that guys. He was one of, if not the, best promoters of the seventies.

Len Silver now epitomizes how people can become institutionalized. He has failed to evolve preferring the "this is how we did it in the past approach". His Rye house promotion and his attitude to promoting is virtually the same as Hackney circa mid 70s.

A little more accurate now -
FFS!!!!! What do you like about Eurosport that you didnt like on SKY. Yes SKY cut to the studio every 4 heats but you dont seem to like what the feed provides anyway. I think we are all glad to have somewhere to watch the GPs but this praising of Eurosport coverage is just ridiculous.

Get him back?, they never had him in the first place. Heuwen and his studio was a SKY addition

"knocking down" I was merely pointing out the £75,000 per annum repayment figure is correct. In your rush to have a pop you fail to read the post properly and make yourself look silly, as per -

That is a hell of a hike from the current £13.75 nett admission to £17.00!!!, it actually requires 5454 paying adults per season although Kirky Lane rent will offset it someqhat -

Indeed, you dont want the general public seeing some of the best racing in the world in modern stadia in front of 20,000 + fans with the odd sponsor they have heard of, goodness me they could end up thinking the sport was cool and worth a second look and maybe venture down to their local track. Far better that the public see p!ss poor racing in front of one man and his dog with all the atmosphere of a mothers union meeting -
Do you mean a few old folks sat in deckchairs filling in programmes or knitting with a few dogs running about is not going to inspire a younger audience into thinking this is a must attend type of event

It is known as "dressing the house", Selling tickets in a manner that can make a venue look full when it is only two thirds full. Why do you think they do that? Refer to Bwitchers earlier point
