Could Woffy Be Making An El Return?
New Science replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Must admit I am a supporter of Woffinden and take my two 9 foot Woffinden flags all over Europe when I attend the foreign GP's . However I was not impressed by his behaviour in Melbourne belting out the Aussie national anthem and then in the moment of triumph of being a British World Champion decided to clown around during God save the queen. If he is as British as everyone says he is them maybe someone should tell him to act like it, The last straw for me was the decision not too ride in the British Final. If the semi is a problem the BSPA should seed him to the final to call his bluff.I don't blame Tai for not riding in the Elite league,I get the burnout issue with 28 fixtures and extensive travelling, but surely its beyond the pail that the British World champion can't at least make a rare appearance in Britain at the British final, surely 1 appearance is not burnout .So for those who think there is not a split or Woffinden is still the darling of all the British fans then they are wrong. -

Thought it was Mr Sandhu who was closing the club down. Without Mick Horton it would probably be closed already -

You are being instantly transferred to the "speedway is boring" thread -
Lets be honest the atmosphere at league speedway is gone forever. What should be and used happen is Have the riders parade Watch heat 1 Talk about what you have just seen and look forward to what will happen in heat 2 etc etc etc When nothing is happening on track is it any wonder people are standing round with their hands in their pockets between heats. You can sing songs,do mexican waves ,do congas whatever you want it wont make any difference. The only thing keeping some people going is the social side of seeing their mates who they only see at the speedway. When I think about 81 the first thing that comes to mind is the 2 too terrific heats between Penhall, Knudsen and Olsen. Not sure how racing of this calibre can be described as boring ! If letting people in for £10 is the answer why was there not a huge crowd present for the Leicester - Swindon match when admission was a tenner Forget lay downs as being the end of grippy tracks, the new silencers post 2010 were the end of grippy tracks Bwitcher if you watch your speedway at Monmore you must admit it is nowhere near as good as it was pre 2011

Bikes that are easy to ride ? Are you having a laugh ! Speedway bikes have never been more unpredictable or more difficult to ride,

One blip away from home doesn't matter now in the grand scheme of things, its all about preparing for the play offs -
People are not going to pay £18 quid every week just to watch a bloke trying to be funny on the centre green. We have that very man at Wolves but crowds are the lowest I've ever known. The people I know who stopped going did so for the very reason of this topic : that they were bored and the racing was not as good as it used to be.This is from the BSPA track of the year

Belle Vue National Stadium

Think this guy got it right -
Unfortunately the new silencers and clay based tracks like we have in Britain are not very compatible and have reduced the quality of racing that we used to have.It still works in Poland but their tracks are of a different material and composition. And yes the original poster was correct speedway in the main in Britain is boring and is the reason why crowds are the lowest for a generation, not averages, team suits, double points etc, etc, etc
-
If they didn't know than that is negligence of the highest order. Of course there is no one on the management team who knows anything about speedway or speedway tracks except Chris Morton

Speedway Champions League ?

Why are Belle Vue allowed to ride when they are not even champions -
No I didn't but I'm not the one defending the promoters ! Ask those who went if they felt conned ? I'd say letting 5,000 people into a stadium for a meeting due to take place on what the promoters knew was an unsatisfactory track is a con

Bspa Warning About Live Streaming

Shame most of the TV audience didn't see it after turning over after the processional first 9 heats -
Ah welcome back White Knight,I see you took a sabbatical when the bullets were flying after opening night, you were probably uncomfortable by the level of flak flying the managements way,but it seems now it is safe to come from behind the sofa and rigorously re defend the management with a fervour again. " The start has been less than ideal" that doesn't sound too bad unless your were one of the five thousand who spent money on fuel, hotels and time off work, which you describe as all part of following speedway ? and by the way this was definitely not one of those unavoidable rain offs that you have experienced many times without recompense ."Have some understanding for the feelings of the people who have moved heaven and earth to bring this stadium and track to fruition" Please ! all the sympathy is with those who parted with their time and money and who were conned by the very promotion you defend.

Premier League V Elite League
New Science replied to Shale Searcher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
This is the problem with speedway's apologists, They keep telling us we are watching good stuff when as on Wednesday most of it was dull and boring. Read the comments of the Leic-Swindon thread, committed speedway fans are turning the TV over of finding something else to do which is the mirror image of the sport as a hole, if you don't entertain / excite people they will find something else to do,hence the lowest crowds we have had at speedway for a generation. There was even a poor crowd at Leicester last night when they were giving it away at £10. Contrast it with tonight's Premier League darts,3 hours of top entertainment, chalk and cheese with last night. You can't fool the public, darts has a good TV deal, has sponsors fighting each other to get on ,board and packs 9 thousand in on a weekly basis paying upwards of £30, meanwhile speedway has a pittance TV deal no main sponsor and ever dwindling crowds, the facts don,t lie ! -
Premier League V Elite League
New Science replied to Shale Searcher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Oh that old chestnut again, speedways ills are all to blame on today's society that people have so much more to choose from.Well its correct in a fashion, they have plentiful options to watch things that are far more entertaining and far better value for money, If you need a reason why speedway is struggling watch tonight's match on the box, 7.30 start and you have to wait until 9.10 for something to happen.,no wonder we are down to the die hards. -

Forecast for Manchester is no rain overnight with rain tomorrow from 11 pm. Come on Belle Vue stop continually treating fans as mugs and tell us the truth for once ! -

H'ow many of these sportsmen you name belt out the national anthem of the country they don't represent when representing their err adopted countries . NON.
-
This is a match Wolves need to win, with Coventry having the weakest reserves in the league on paper.
-
You must admit that if you had not seen his body colour in Melbourne you would not know Britain had the new world champion. From belting out the national anthem of a country he doesn't even represent and then in the moment of triumph with the Gold medal round his neck he feels so much pride for his country of birth to clown around with his hat on backwards when the national anthem plays out.,If that's pride in being British well it said a thousand words, can understand why people talk.Personally as someone who follows Woffinden all over Europe in the GP with my 9 foot union jack I was embarrassed for him,
