Sorry "Tai sang along to a national anthem being played in Australia, showing respect for the country he was in" What an absurd statement ; In that case all the riders should have been singing as technically they were all in Australia -
Speedway promoters are often accused of having their heads in the sand. CVS don't insult our intelligence by telling us crowds aren't dwindling You don't need to be an accountant you just need eyes. Look at the half full terraces, look at the empty spaces on the car park, It speaks for itself.

More likely to be no TV commitments with Eurosport -
If the OAP's that make up a significant proportion of Speedways demographic get the hump and decide to join the many others who have left the sport you can blame your friends at the IFS

You could easily apply for Portuguese nationality though residency, it happens in a lot of sports, mainly rugby. Talking of rugby I've been reading about Martin Johnson's career, similar to Tai he spent some of his teenage years in nearby New Zealand and even represented the All Blacks at U21 level..Strange then that when New Zealand came to Twickenham Johnson didn't join in with the Haka to show his affinity to the country.Either you are English / British or Australian, New Zealander etc ,make your choice ,don't float somewhere in-between.I think if Tai wasn't a 2 time World Champion he would not be cut so much slack. If there wasn't a problem Phil Rising wouldn't have pointed out that Woffindens questionable ' antics ' .had been pointed out to his team. -
Something will have to give With the season starting on 28 March and assuming the play offs start as last year on September 18th this leaves 25 Monday nights for Wolves to fit in 14 League meetings using alternative weeks. As you can see even without rain offs this is impossible .

Haven't read anywhere in the official statement issued that Tuesdays are a regular option. If they are why couldn't Cradley be accommodated on Tuesdays as they were previously

Anything but double headers please. Who wants to watch a 2nd match every week when the track is as slick as a board.

In recognition of his idol Senna, seem to remember Hans Andersen wore replica leathers of his idol Erik Gundersen. When Mr Hamilton sings the Brazilian national anthem Ill take your point -
Maybe take it to Swindon The season wont start until 28 March so thats a couple less Mondays to play with

Honestly, can you ever recollect a sportsman singing a national anthem of a Country he does not represent and then choosing not to sing the anthem of the country he does represent. You have to admit its very odd !. -

Maybe I'm in the minority but I expect someone who is British to act like they are British especially when they are representing their country on the international stage. -
Next season Wolves will have probably have a minimum of 16 fixtures ( 14 league, 1 olympique, 1 British final ) Next year if league / regulations stay the same Cradley will have a minimum 12 fixtures (9 league , 1 KOC, 1 Gold cup,1 Golden Hammer ) I say minimum as Cradley had 2 additional KOC matches plus 1 gold cup plus an additional challenge match. This is also on the likeliness that Wolves don't make the play offs. Add in an average of 3 rain offs and you are looking at a minimum 31-32 available Monday nights 2nd week of March to the end of October is around 30 weeks so I reckon they are short of Mondays before the season starts. Although not wanting to see the Heathens close I'm not happy about it bringing fortnightly speedway, 1 rain off could be a month without a meeting people are still going to be reluctant to attend if its an iffy night weather wise or on the TV.the way crowds have been last year fortnightly speedway could be the death-knell.

Good news the Heathens are back at Monmore, not sure how we are going to find 29 Mondays in the season to fit all the fixtures in thou.

There's no problem having an affinity to another country, all we ask is to have an affinity to the country you represent -

If he is British then the least he can do is to act like he's British, ie not to belt out another countries anthem and then talk and laugh your way through your own. I am a big supporter of Tai but looking at his actions lately it does seem he is using Britain as a flag of convenience and his heart is firmly in Australia. As posters have said ,a place in the National league,a Premier league / Elite league place with no Visa required ,then fast tracked to the World Cup and Grand Prix which would have been unlikely as an Australian rider.Even the conservative Speedway Star have picked up on this by running their article this week.
