  1. No where in Buster Chapmnans statement does it insist that Woffinden must ride in the semis. There are 2 wild cards for the final. There is'nt a problem which can't be overcome as long as there is willing on both sides
  2. The British final at Wolverhampton in recent years has been their largest crowd of the season by some margin. It is one meeting fans do turn up for !
  3. Hasn't bothered him for the last 5 years when he had something to gain. Ah a stand against British speedway that he doesn't participate in anymore., Don't forget to count me in for the World Cup thou
  4. Maybe Woffinden should duck out of the meaningless Poland vs The Rest of the World the day following the Warsaw GP if he is committed to avoiding burnout. Lets be honest Woffinden rightly or wrongly thinks he has outgrown the British Final and a rare British appearance is too much trouble. Woffinden riding does increase interest, ticket sales and TV audience ,no doubt his PR guru Pearson will fill us in on the night.Don't worry See you all at my merchandise stall at Cardiff, "British fans are the best."
  5. And he's rightly been pilloried for it by many on this forum , Why should Woffinden be exempt just because he's British and World Champion.
  6. Had heavy rain between 4.15 - 5.30 No way this fixture could have run
  7. A bit ominous this result as most have Swindon in the top 4. Could be some cricket scores when the lesser lights turn up
  8. Personally its very hard to bathe in your positives when people have travelled hundreds of miles, spend fortunes on petrol, hotels, tickets to see the worlds best at a new stadium and end up with absolutely nothing except disappointment, frustration and anger. The criticism that comes Belle Vue's way is entirely justified.
  9. Is it me but it seems 95 % of people defending the Belle Vue management are Belle Vue fans !
  10. Truth hurts I'm afraid ! If pointing out flaws such as not having a track test event is moaning then guilty as charged.
  11. You're first line is spot on ,But why were 6000 people invited to travel from all over the country to witness with their own eyes what the promoters knew already. That's why there's a witch hunt going on
  12. Said on Thursday that Belle Vue were taking a big risk by running a test event on the track before opening night.Unfortunately some on here shot me down as being negative (Mr Flange in particular). Legality insisted that 2 test events had to occur to fully test all the logistics of the stadium, except what we were told was the centre piece of the project, the speedway track.Yes it might be great in the future but it was clearly not ready for a well publicised, sell out opening night. Speedway fans will excuse inclement weather on the night or even the track rutting a bit after 12-15 heats, but not a circuit that's deemed unfit before heat 1 after a spell of decent weather.Unfortunately the Promoters who include speedway people in Chris Morton probably knew that their were big issues but decided to wing it,hoping the riders would risk their necks to cover the managements incompetence,as we know this didn't happen.Knowing the issues, instead of cancelling the management went ahead, opened the turnstiles, took the car parking money, sold all the programmes and served the food in hospitality.Unfortunately money is tight in this project and the opening night was a significant factor in making initial repayments on the council loan.,and this was the overriding factor why the event went ahead regardless of whether they could give the public what they paid for.. Shameful
  13. Wondered how long it would be before someone blamed the riders ! Belle Vue Speedway are to blame for this fiasco nobody else
  14. 'To cut no ice' meaning: To fail to impress or influence someone or To fail to make an impression
  15. Don't think that will cut much ice with those who have paid £20 / £25 or £65 for opening night tickets
  16. Agree with this post surely one of the 'test events' should have involved an actual speedway meeting.Belle Vue are taking a risk not testing the track before a sell out opening night
  17. None of the riders that will appear in the World Cup. While applauding the BSPA for creating a pre season training camp overseas its a poor show when none of our World Cup stars ( Chris Harris accepted) can be bothered to show
  18. People are moaning about the price to sit in the new stand, not the price to stand on a concrete terrace.Time will tell but can't see the point of building a brand spanking new stand if no one is going to use it to watch Elite League speedway.
  19. £23 to sit centre stand at Belle Vue
  20. Are the Brits being allowed to ride in the Euros this year ?
  21. Strange,I thought the issue was over money and race suit sponsorship rider rather than opportunities and development of British riders, you're right I don't know Scott but I stick with my opinion that if Eurosport still had the rights to the World Cup then Scott Nicholls would not have made himself available for selection.
  22. Holder last year didn't seem to have the equipment to compete with the very top boys
  23. How long has Rosco been in charge ? Scott has had 3 years to talk to Rosco but chose the TV studio over team GB.Now with Eurosport losing the TV contract and it being 1 meeting at his home track with no travelling now is conveniently the right time to return. If Eurosport still had the rights Scott would be still be in the studio.Got no problem with that but don't tell us he's doing us all a favour.Personally if Cook and Lambert are fit I would go with them, both improved significantly last year.
