  1. How are you supposed to aggressively market and advertise a product that as you quote 'has awful stadiums, uninspiring presentation, no atmosphere and processional racing' ?
  2. John Daly,Craig Stadler,Angel Cabrera, and not forgetting Bill Werbenick
  3. While I don't doubt your marketing skills SYNIKALLE' the problems above need fixing before any attempt can be made to market the sport. In the past I would always talk the sport up to friends and colleagues, and some did attend with me.I'd be embarrassed to take anyone now,if I'm bored I'm pretty sure they would be.
  4. BBC also had a story of Tai's world championship win under the heading 'Moto GP' They are not remotely interested in speedway, just a British 'feel good' story, if a Brit won the world tiddly wink championship the BBC would give it as much airtime(about 5 minutes)
  5. There are plenty of people who know about speedway but now choose not to attend because the speedway they were watching was neither thrilling or exciting ! Why isn't this exciting and thrilling speedway on TV every week ?
  6. The corporate area could do with a bit of a spruce up !
  7. All I know is that when Tai picked up the world title he was not wearing the Monster logo cap.I think Monster thought they had covered all bases with non Red Bull sponsored riders then up pops Tai.Whatever next "Monster decide to sponsor the new world champion" Oh they have !
  8. Or maybe its because he has lost money the last 3 seasons and has an air fence to pay for
  9. Does anybody know what the new revised heat formula will be ?
  10. Thanks iris123 that is exactly what I meant. If Woffinden is so heavily sponsored by Monster its strange that he does not wear the Monster logo cap on GP duty as per Hancock,Holder,Ward and Gollob do
  11. You are spot on ! unfortunately since the new silencers were brought in track preparation has become even more difficult, nay impossible. The speedway at Wolverhampton is nowhere near the standard it used to be at Wolves 3 years ago,not the fault of the best track man in the business Doc Bridget, the fault of the new silencers.
  12. The sliding scale brought in for match points was one of best ideas the promoters have come up with.I know the playoffs divide opinion but fans and viewers vote with their feet, they are the best attended meetings of the year and attract the largest TV viewing figures
  13. When you get good racing and a pretty even scoreline there is nothing at all wrong with the 15 heat formula. If the racing is poor it doesn't matter if its over 1 lap ,10 laps or tag team / relay racing.Speedway will not get back on its feet until the product improves,ie the racing.Forget stadia, forget double points, forget 4 points for a large away win,we can worry about the fine details when we regularly churn out good speedway racing on a weekly basis. This is why fans have stopped going, the only way to get them back is to give them good racing, none of us agree on all the rules but this is not the reason we stop going. Speedway needs to work from the bottom up to get the core product right (THE RACING) and the rest will follow, thats what will get the fans back !
  14. Problem is you can ask 10 different customers what they want and you get 10 different answers ! For all the people who are slagging the promoters off how are they supposed to satisfy the needs of all the posters on this forum, impossible
  15. Can you name a successful weekly professional sport that operates without a TV deal ?
  16. Tai has only recently acquired Monster sponsorship,Emil has had Red Bull sponsorship for many years which would dwarf that of Woffinden. The argument of riders getting injured in a rival series is a flawed one as all GP riders ride in several leagues across Europe all summer.Maybe the Elite league,Polish and Swedish league should sue the F.I.M for compensation if their contracted riders get injured in F.I.M events.Just a thought
  17. What do you see as sensible ball park figure for admission for the league structure your advocating ?
  18. All the money accrued by the promoter is his alone to balance his books how he sees fit.Remember it is they not the fans that take the financial risk every year, and in the last 3 years most promoters have lost money some to the tune of 70 grand.
  19. You can't blame people for being cynical Phil, wasn't the new stadium supposed to hold the 2012 world cup.Even on the 11th of April this year you were championing "everything has been rubber stamped" "its all systems go".and we are now in November. Unfortunately 99.99% of us are not in 'the loop' like yourself and have to post on here to provoke the people in charge (and yourself) into volunteering any information.I know you are close to the people involved but boasting of having a stadium ready in 2012 and not having a brick laid by the start of 2014 is not worthy of your endless pats on the back for the people concerned
  20. Always thought this may be the case, can't think of a year when a country has had 2 GP's,without having 2 permanent riders in the GP field.Laguta is the obvious choice as a potential world star but in the end commercial value / revenue always rule
  21. Reading between the lines in the speedway press most Elite league clubs are losing significant amounts of money even with the Sky TV money so there is actually no money to put away for a rainy day
