Swc Event 1 King's Lynn 26/07/14
New Science replied to Bagpuss's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Lets be honest a team with Holder,Ward,Batchelor and Doyle would be too good for anything team GB could offer. Can see a win over a depleted Aussie team been talked up as the second coming by Pearson. -
Whats the point of offering up ideas and solutions with the punchline "you will never get me back thou" I'm sure if the BSPA were reading you're post they stopped right there !

Enjoyed my weekend at Cardiff as usual,my take on things, thought the track and racing were ok although it still concerns me to see riders of the ability of Darcy Ward looping and been thrown of his bike.Fortunately the riders behind managed to avoid him,had they not this topic may have had a different theme. As much as Ole Olsen says in last weeks Star "We don't get ruts anymore" fact is at Copenhagen and Cardiff there was a large rut.Thought the fanzone was ok but there needs to be more going on, particularly on the stage to get people to stop longer than 30 minutes. There always seems to be lots of speedway people knocking around, get em on the stage I'd happily listen to interviews with the likes of Crump,Nicholls,Havelock,Loram etc.Glad I saw the guy on the bike at the fanzone because in the stadium with the lights out and dry ice about it was difficult to see if not on the big screen.Thought the opening was OK,not breathtaking as described in the Star,Ive seen plenty of terrific GP,s in Poland with riders coming round on a truck, racing comes first every time for me.Not sure why the announcer felt the need to tell us it was a record attendance when clearly it wasn't,also not sure what the digital advertising below the middle tear brought to the event, was told for the first time ever, can't hang your flags there ! had to trek to the top tier instead.

I don't like to ask the question but it fits in with the letters page in Speedway Star this week.People who write long letters and produce long posts on the forum about how good the sport is but choose not to go anymore !

My geography isn't great but looking at a map the only GP venues where Sweden is further away from London is Cardiff and Prague, travelling back from Tampere,Mallila,Copenhagen,Riga,Vojens and Stockholm I wouldn't exactly call taxing.I think the original post is correct and is heart is not in it any more ,shame !

The guy in our local paper has quoted 50,000.Although this is the same guy who waxes lyrical about every Heathens 'ommering' and says Wolves regularly get big crowds.I think Pearson is his mentor so your right he has probably added 6,000 on.

Monmore Green, Wolverhampton, season 2009.Freddie Lindgren unbeaten in 7 consecutive home meetings by an away rider.Inside, outside you could just not defend against Fast Freddie. Vintage times ! -

I only ask because looking at the plans there doesn't look much room around the periphery of the track to construct temporary grandstands on the bends or to construct one on the back straight where a covered stand already exists. Is 13,000 an official figure ? -

You should put this post on the back of every speedway ticket under terms and conditions. What you are about to watch may not be any good but don't be alarmed it is the norm and its not our fault. -

Just had a look at the plans and it seems as previously mentioned that there will be no longer standing all the way round as previously shown but 4 smaller stands housing 4142 spectators. Will it still be possible as per the original plans to increase the capacity to 15,000 plus for world events as I can't see it mentioned in the latest documents. -
If you read your post you said "the racing today is the best I have seen in my 40+ years of watching speedway" Showing a clip of an old world final does nothing to confirm that ! You can't tell us where this speedway is and choose to ignore the dross which is served up on the TV in your argument.Ill ask again if the speedway is the best you've seen in 40 years tell us where it is ? Coventry,Eastbourne,Leicester maybe ?

Why not have these guys in the squad.Only 4 ride in round 1 and we can pick a squad of ten ! Most teams will pick some riders in the squad who are there for experience, we have riders in the squad who have little chance of riding and who do not need the experience ! With 10 names to choose surely there is room for Lambert,Garrity and Blackbird, our pool of talent is not that strong

I think we can put the Eastbourne meeting on Monday as evidence for the prosecution as to the case "speedways never been better"

Yeh Formula 1 is so competitive these days Rosberg 165 points Mercedes Hamilton 136 points Mercedes Ricardo 83 points Red Bull The fastest car still wins ! From last year Red Bull just substitute Mercedes this,

Danish Gp 28/6
New Science replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Chris Harris didn't qualify for the GP series. He only got a place after the withdrawal of 2 of BSI's selected wildcards Emil and Gollob) Surely in future if this happened again it would be more sensible to allow BSI to select another wildcard of their choice rather than having to trawl through the non qualifiers of the GP challenge. -
Please tell us where all this speedway that is better than ever is taking place ?

The staggered point system is the best idea that the BSPA have come up with in the last 10 years. Its provided some meaning to many a heat 13,14 and 15 which without it would have been tame and inconsequential. If you watch the matches from Poland, teams simply, give up when they know they are going to lose .With the staggered points system you get a much truer picture of the league.

Think that's an accumulator where the winnings from one heat become the stake for the next and so on. -
Their interested in stability and in trying to lose less money.Rather than 'getting the top boys back' the sport is moving firmly in the opposite direction with the fast track scheme.Unless someone can broker a long term million dollar sponsorship package for the Elite league than you can forget the 'big boys',the guys that promote are not oligarchs, they would be mad to take such a big risk.

The quality of the speedway dictates the atmosphere not just the name of the team !

Speedway seems to have has lost its way in keeping the next generation of fans after they have been introduced by their parents. I was introduced by my parents and was instantly hooked by the smell, the noise, the speed, the racing and the atmosphere, particularly that of a derby match.Well the smell has gone, the noise has gone and the atmosphere has gone,on top of that the racing is nowhere near as good as it used to be .If I was introduced today don't think there would enough to hook me to attend week in week out !

Arthur Cross may have his opinion but lets be honest, whatever happens with this project or however long it takes to get built you would never contemplate to criticise the Belle Vue management in any way.Whenever I have posed a question regarding the stadium timescale or lack of information to the public you jump on here with a "calm down" "be patient" "it will happen" although you have no actual inside information to call on,just blind faith.I think this weeks announcement mirrored speedway as a whole, the expectation level has become so low that anything slightly positive is hyped into up into something bigger than what it is.As for 'clowns' bit harsh maybe but after the burst pipe incident and the good Friday cancellation 2 years ago think it proves that this team is not exempt from making some mistakes, contrary to what some posters on here believe.
