  1. This seems to be speedways buzz word at the moment "Its ok because it happens elsewhere" Well its not, all you end up with is a race to the bottom .Its up to promoters to get their own/house business in order, not for fans to overlook incompetency by simply saying "oh its ok because it happens elsewhere"
  2. Not sure BSI will be begging someone who turned down an invitation to ride in the whole series
  3. Why round on fans who are just calling it as it is.Poor track preparation, poor racing, endless delays and poor presentation are the things that are killing the sport.Just because you support the team doesn't mean you are moaning if you don't like what you see,at least these "so called" fans care, many just take the easy option and walk away !
  4. Cheers ! Presume Belle Vue will also be responsible for paying the wages of all stadium staff which I don't think they do at the moment.Seems the increase in costs might trim the margins, with speedway not being the most profitable business at present or likely in the future hope the people in charge have got their figures right !
  5. I've read the official statement from Belle Vue and there is no mention of the increase in costs or whether Belle Vue will be accountable to pay it back or over what period. Can someone confirm if this is the case or is it one of the issues we are not allowed to know about.I agree with "oneofclubs" how dare people come on hear and debate the feasibility of the project, finance, costs, lengthy delays,no communication, buy a brick scheme,no planning permission etc.Shame on you !
  6. Agree some great reading.Had to laugh at the Coventry preview thou. Mick Horton is quoted as saying "Your going to see some terrific racing at Brandon this year" (not in March your'e not) and the fan said Belle Vue could have a good season if they sorted their track out (stones and glass houses)
  7. Not sure the riders are embracing the changing of race numbers they so actively craved. With only 12 days to go before the first GP of the season only 2 riders (Smolinski and Zagar) have merchandising for sale on their website with their racing number on it.As these 2 riders have always historically branded themselves with their adopted race number it seems absolutely nothing has changed since this ground breaking rule was brought in.If the riders aren't going to market the relevant merchandise what's the point ?
  8. Totally agree, most often the talk between heats used to be of what we had just witnessed in the last heat and how the match was going to pan out from there on.I agree all promotions could strive to make the riders parade more interesting but as soon as the tapes go up in heat 1 the racing should take care of the entertainment. Darts get weekly crowds of between 5 and 11 thousand for the Premier league which lasts 16 weeks. It also runs other major events in Britain and around the world which are well attended.Interesting to note that unlike speedway these attendances are not affected in the slightest by live TV coverage on SKY.There has never been more money in the sport due to it attracting mass sponsorship.I attend many darts events, don't believe it is all about the drinking and dressing up,people are regularly watching a standard of play which has never been seen before.Thats why my emphasis would be on getting the core product right first before concentrating on the presentation.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsGpkDzreGE The difference in noise in Formula 1 (I know which I prefer) Motor sport without noise is not motorsport !
  10. Couldn't agree more ! Must admit I did notice the change in noise and it did take something away from overall package
  11. Maybe the BSPA should get the rules for the potential fighting logged at the next conference
  12. This is precisely the attitude that allows the F.I.M not to increase the prize money on a regular basis and pocket it for themselves. Why should the F.I.M increase the prize money when the glory on offer is enough.Everyone should wake up,this is professional sport and the world champion should be paid accordingly what the sport can afford.
  13. How naive you are ! You can dress it up how you want, failing to pay riders on time is lack of payment. Without the intervention of Swindons main 2 sponsors this cash would not have been paid. How many businesses which are on the point of going bankrupt trot out that line "simply a cash flow problem"
  14. Its my understanding that prize money paid by the F.I.M hasn't risen for 12 years. If that's the case the riders are been taken for mugs ! Does Swindon and Birmingham in 2013 ring any bells.
  15. The injury is a red herring,Emil has been practising at Torun and is quoted on a Polish website as having no ill effects. He has also been named in the Russian team to ride in the One Sport promoted Best pairs which will kick off in Torun at the end of THIS month.Fully expect Emil to ride in all the European Championship rounds but it will be interesting to see if he gives the world cup a miss as he did last year.If he does I think it tells you all you need to know about his relationship with BSI and the FIM.The other issue is money, riders are quite open in saying that they are loosing money in entering the SGP.BSI and the FIM need to look at this,no wonder riders are clambering to join the SEC it pays more.It seems that the lack of money in the SGP has now accounted for Sayfutidnov and Gollob this year,2 of the sports great entertainers and title contenders deciding to give the sports ultimate title a miss.Glory might be great but the worlds best riders should be paid appropriately for it.
  16. The engraving of the bricks must be expensive as your average brick retails at about 35/40 pence if bought in baulk. The Belle Vue bricks retail at £49
  17. Have to admit One Sport taking the SEC to a sold out Togliatti was a major coup.Russia seemed a natural expansion for the SGP but for whatever the list of reasons it hasn't happened.
  18. If your not in the know and have no connection to the promotion your not in a position to make the above statement!
  19. At least changing numbers last year had some significance in what position you finished last year, easy for everyone to understand and to aspire to own the top 3 race jackets. Can understand the willingness of riders such as Hancock,Zagar and Smolinski for change but some of the stories being pulled out how riders are creating numbers is ridiculous. Darcy Ward picks his postcode #43. Although his actual postcode is 4300,so why not pick 4300 for heavens sake
