Speedway Star Toothless Pussycat
New Science replied to robolots's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The difference between darts and speedway is the product and quality of darts has never been higher, sadly speedway cannot say the same with the coverage it shows on Sky.Never underestimate the importance of the core product, this is the only way to win back lost fans. -

I thought David Beckham was number 23 ! Just found out he was after he was number 7 but before he was number 32 ! Shows the idiocy of it all ! -
Speedway Champions League ?
New Science replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
If teams have to strengthen / de strengthen then it becomes a farce, nothing more than an invitational event.Imagine if all teams in football's champions league were allowed guests to strengthen up to the likes of Bayern or Barca. -

Bydgoszcz Gp Tickets ?
New Science replied to markw40's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If was so concerned about that maybe he should have accepted his wild card. Not sure Tomasz should have the opportunity to cherry pick the Polish GP wild card slots when he has chosen he doesn't want to ride in the series . -
Birmingham tried reducing the price for quite a few meetings last year and invariably found themselves not having the cash to pay the riders or team manager.

Sgp Riders' Numbers
New Science replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why not allow the riders names to be replaced on their bibs by their nicknames in different colours and fonts, imagine Noddy leading Woffy followed by the Grin leading KK. Seriously, not really a fan of this idea, can see some riders swopping and changing their numbers year on year, cant see Tai having #1 next year if he fails to retain the title.Speedway is different to Moto GP and Formula 1 as riders are identified by their race jacket and helmet colour not just a number on the front of their machine. Also the race format is different with speedway riders only spending a minute a time on track and then dissapearing rather than the continuous 45 minutes in Moto GP or 2 hours in Formula 1 -
New Zealand Gp.
New Science replied to STARRGAZER1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Biggest hurdle is always finding a 'fall guy' who will foot the bill and then absorb the inevitable losses while BSI speed off back to Blighty (someone like the much maligned Bill Buckley).Surely Monster Energy should step up to the plate to make a GP in their native US happen. -
Not speedways mess thou !

New Zealand Gp.
New Science replied to STARRGAZER1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Amazing how Bill Buckley, now he has served his purpose for BSI has gone from New Zealand's best businessman and everyone's favourite uncle to a guy who can't promote his own events correctly and has a bad attitude,oh how the mighty fall quickly when the cash cow dries up ! -
Not much sign of a recession at the Ally Pally watching the darts tonight.Sold out a month in advance with £50 cheapest ticket to watch probable 2 hours of darts. The recession is the easiest excuse for a failing product or business.

Lets hope the Football January transfer window is quiet so that it doesn't infringe or delay further the Sky Sports Speedway Announcement !

Wild Cards 2014
New Science replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Still can't get my head round why a wild card selected by the organisers who has declined to enter the competition cannot be replaced by another wild card of the organisers choice rather than being forced to use a rider who finished 5th in the Grand Prix challenge ! not withstanding that rider having already being eliminated in an earlier qualifying round. -

This thread could run longer than mousetrap ! -
Isle of Wight getting crowds of 120 might have also been the reason the club has withdrawn from the league.Impossible to state a credible business plan on those crowd levels.

At least if the stadium is delayed it will give the promoters more opportunities to go on more fact finding trips to the foreign GP's -
British Speedway Promoters Meeting
New Science replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Don't get me wrong I understand the importance of marketing, but if you do market speedway aggressively it must do exactly what it says on the tin.If your going to market speedway at Belle Vue or anywhere else has 'high octane' 'thrill a minute' 'white hot atmosphere' that's exactly what it must be, you have only one chance to sell your product. With respect how many meetings at Belle Vue can be described with the adjectives in the previous sentence. In terms of building up a meeting the Belle Vue vs Poole meeting at the back end of the season was a marketing dream.Speedways biggest club in town with the GP superstars with a desperate last chance to save their season. And what did we get,a farce, imagine that if it was your first speedway meeting after reading all the hype. Also there is a big difference to people picking up a free paper and parting with £20 for 2 tickets to a sport they know nothing about. As for discounted tickets Birmingham tried this mid season and ended up in financial trouble, ensure the product is worth the £17 rather than giving it away every week for £10 -

You can't blame people for being sceptical particularly those who brought bricks in 2011 to see 2014 a month away and still not planning permission achieved. The disappointing thing is we never hear anything from the promotion until someone buts a barbed comment on this forum suggesting it may not happen.
