  1. If he became 'available' he would NOT be granted an ACU licence. He might get one from NORA, however. Which wouldn't help Plymouth, but thankfully keep him away from our leagues.
  2. Try again, Phil? Tarasenko's definately there. So is Musielak.
  3. PRESS & PRACTICE It’s been a long winter but the Jewson Bandits powered by Keenwood Karpets are back on track at Shielfield Park this Saturday night from 6:30pm! Here’s a summary of all you need to know Gates open at 6pm. Entry by donation. Season passes available to collect from the box office at the stadium entrance from 6pm until 7pm. Alternatively between 3pm and 5pm in the Black and Gold on March 30 or collect it on the night of our opening Border Trophy first leg against Workington Comets. Please note there is no season launch night on the Friday night but the riders and management team will be attending the Black & Gold immediately after Saturdays practice session. We can’t wait to see you all trackside once again!
  4. Travel won't need to be by van, don't think there will be any bikes on track, maybe a demo session for TV...
  5. A bit sad that a genuine, forward-thinking initiative by the League is being dissed by the regular Eeyores on here....
  6. Sadly not. The 24th would have caused some riders having to withdraw, and to maintain the standard of the event, it will be restaged later in the season.
  7. Big company and a well-known name nationally, can only be very good news. Jewson are part of the (£7.5 billion turnover) STARK group, so this sponsorship links the Bandits (sorry, Jewson Bandits) with a global giant. Launch weekend looms on March 22/23!
  8. I'd be thinking that locals will be attracted by the concept of seeing their very own GP star (and former) Comet in action around Northside.....
  9. Fortunately, there's a big Asda store over on the main road pretty near the track with full cash machine facilities, so anyone 'caught short' of the necessary readies would be able to pop over there to pick up a bit of cash.
  10. At least 45, maybe more. This is a big push by Big Phil!
  11. Nice cover picture and featured interview with Jye Etheridge in this week's Speedway Star by Phil Lanning.... Just three weeks until pre-season weekend!
  12. I've never heard that one before. Don't think it's the case. If it were the case, a club would need only to make up any seven today, but change it before their first meeting when their preferred septet was agreed and available.......
  13. As some will know, the invaluable Shielfield track staffers are working very hard this spring, moving the start line and changing/upgrading the safety fencing. Less than five weeks to Launch Night/Press'n'practice weekend!
  14. The two best British ladies are (as far as l've seen) Rachel Hellowell and Katie Gordon......
  15. Maybe the promotion -- who have done so little wrong since building the arena -- are waiting to see how he performs at Northside in a month's time?
  16. The problem with a change from 'on the track, under power' to 'at the tapes' is the huge difference in distance from pit gate to tapes at (say) Ippo or Sheffield to that at KL, BV or even Plymouth........
  17. Surely, even the thickest Worky fans must realise the folly of paying over the odds, not sticking very firmly to a designated budget?
  18. Agree on logic, but remember Ht 15 scores will skew a team's averages a little. 42 isn't a true team total. The gradual month-on-month upping of team averages will help teams who feel a need to make changes, but having a low starting-point each season will keep team-building costs down. Which is a good thing.
  19. No hurry, for Comets or Bears. In 2013, Edinburgh didn't sign their third heat-leader until after the BenFund meeting, a week before they opened - - and still made it to the Grand Final! He was called Claus Vissing, as l recall....
  20. I think the salient point is that the allowance was granted with the full agreement of every other team in the league. It's called democracy.
  21. Ice-cream vans, etc, pay the promotion a set fee to let them come in and sell to the audience. Guaranteed income for the Comets. Takes a lot of strain off the club, although a little less profitable than running the outlets themselves.
