The sun delay -- first time I think I've seen it happen at Armadale in nearly thirty seasons -- was a bit of a surprise. An experienced rider explained to me last night that the sun seemed really very bright (atmospherics, clear sky, whatever?) and their problem wasn't riding into it on the third bend, it was the sudden dramatic change from the brightness to shade as they approached the coo-shed. Simply, their eyes couldn't react fast enough to handle the change. Hopefully not to be a regular difficulty -- it is Central Scotland after all, and sunshine as bright as that isn't really the norm......

He had to work for it, too. Twice only got a decision right on the line after chasing leader down, and in other races was made to work for the money by the homesters. Not least in Heat 9, when he had to chase Matt Marson for two and a half laps before getting the better of an excellent tussle between the two. Evenly matched, I would say, based on that race........

Being a small, tight-knit organisation, BSN are cute enough to sort open doors and back alleys through which cheating "customers" might try to sneak to watch for free. The big organisations, with a client-base in the millions are susceptible to sneak-thieves who get in and watch for free. BSN can sport every illegal viewer coming and close the door on them very quickly.

I'd say that the 'changes' greatly improve Edinburgh's squad for Saturday. All three guests have the ability and Shielfield experience to score higher than the riders they replace.

Have to agree. Saw nothing wrong last night. Too much dirt? Compared to the Peter Waite days? Dont make me titter ....

While races are over four laps, and you only get points for going the distance, Tigers' reserves (and Kyle Howarth) seemed to be in the right place at the right time to benefit from Berwick's broken chains and falls each time these misfortunes befell the Bandits. Having said that, Max Perry has always caught the eye, and is clearly a prospect. All in all, a fair win for Glasgow, plenty reasons to be cheerful for Bandits as well. A good night out.
