Typical Poole fan.
-
Seems very personal that post. But one question, who is the person to bring leadership?
-
But to be fair they always had that opportunity when the aggregate bonus point was taken into consideration, not to mention pay by points. I just think the list at the top is ridiculous with so many variations on league points.
-
I was checking the league table on the BSPA website last night and when you look at this, it just emphasis to me how unnecessarily complicated speedway has become. LEAGUE SCORING SYSTEM Home loss by any amount of points = 0 Home draw = 1 Home win by between 1 and 6 points = 2 Home win by 7 points or more = 3 Away loss by 7 points or more = 0 Away loss by 6 points or less = 1 Away draw = 2 Away win by between 1 and 6 points = 3 Away win by 7 points or more = 4 Then we have the double points tact sub rule. I know some people like these things, but if speedway wants to attract new fans we need to keep things simple, four men, four bikes, four laps with simple scoring rules. I personally still don't see a problem with the bonus point for the aggregate score over two home and away matches. But back to basics when viewing at a glance would this not make much more common sense for old and new fans alike? LEAGUE SCORING SYSTEM Win = 3 Draw = 1

Yes you are right, the Elite League is anything but Elite, so I imagine some of the Premier League teams right now could give some of the Elite League teams a good run for their money. Of course, if that happened it would remove the likelihood of a single race night I assume so many of the GP boys would be unlikely to commit anyway.

Not that I am suggesting things are often fixed in some ways, I remember when a very strong Long Eaton were put into a northern group 4TT qualification group, but Sheffield (a good 50 miles further north) in a much weaker central group with the likes of Stoke and Peterborough as I recall. Team wise it may not have been that much of a problem but they did not think about the fans, with LE fans facing 300+ trips to Glasgow and Edinburgh. But what is clear in speedway, the top league always messes up, and the second tier is shagged to save the top tier. It happened when the BL and NL were merged and the promise of equal share of the top riders never happened.

With respect, you keep saying this but maybe the selectiveness was in your head?

Gorzow Gp-30th August 2014
TheReturn replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Mmmm, it's impressive but surely the achievement that matters is world titles, and title to 177 GP ratio he only won two world titles in the GP era, so if you look at it from that angle it is less impressive. Don't get me wrong, I doubt anyone will last longer in the GPs, but we have people who have won more GP series which suggests their achievement is better? Open the debate -
I am not a Tatum hater, Kelvin Tatum offers some great technical insights, and I welcome his input on the commentary.
-
Yes he mentioned him, but not at the same level of concern he showed Hancock.
-
I have long defended him and his GP performances, until this season. It is now clear that for whatever reason he simply can not compete at the top table on a regular basis anymore. I would not be opposed to him proving us wrong as a wildcard at Cardiff, but his performances this season have not been enough to even suggest he should be considered for anytime soon. Down to him to prove us wrong and qualify on merit now.

Kelvin is very good. Offers good technical input, and spotted Gregs hand going into the wheel like a week before Pearson did. Pearson on the other hand is an embarrassment, called a race wrong last night, fawns over Hancock, shouts like an imbecile during commentary, overuses the same terms time and time again (current favourites are 'he's gone square', and 'let the crowd bring him home - then talks over them', he suggests every rider pull-up is a dropped chain, mentions Cradley/Dudley most meetings and is generally one of the poorest sports commentators there is. About time people stopped sucking up to him, and actually realised he is just not that good. -
Yes that was embarrassing the way he was choking up over Hancock, ignoring the other injured rider.

Some brilliant racing tonight, the first two laps of heat 6 were fantastic. Great final, and he seems such a lovely lad the way he hugged his bike at the end. Great TV, although as always spoiled by Pearson going OTT from Hancock getting hurt to his screaming at the end again. -
With tonight's point dropping by Greg and Tai had he not got himself suspended Darcy could have been incredibly close to Greg/Tai.

Oh no I am gutted for him. I just hope he comes back quickly to still be in with a shout of retaining his crown. -
Not me. They should have come down harder years ago.
-
Not in Poole's case, they kept defending his antics in the past, and so they deserve all they get.
-
Why will British Speedway be finished just because one rider decided to have one drink too many? Get real, British Speedway is more than just Poole.
-
Lol... this is the funniest post I have seen on here, ever! Poole fans will no doubt be blaming those nasty people on the British Speedway Forum and the FIM and everyone else, rather than looking closer to home.
-
Rightly so? Go on, I will bite.... do tell why you think nothing more should happen?
-
I don't think it would make the sport look any worse, these things happen in sports I guess, hopefully they get improved for next time. However, what I would like to know who is representing him and suggesting they go down this legal route to wriggle out of it? That party, maybe one of his promoters or Ward himself, are the ones I have lost respect for, and equally as guilty as Ward for trying to cheat any potential ban. I respect Ward the rider, I do not respect Ward the person. Had he held his hands up and took his punishment I would have gone some way to having more respect for the person. I don't blame Ward for this legal loophole cheating, I blame whoever it was that suggested they try and find a legal loophole. Who was that person? Ward himself? I doubt it.

The Future Of The Elite League
TheReturn replied to SarahLapworth's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It's funny I keep seeing this thread title at the top of the page, and I keep saying the same 'what future?'! -
And your point is? The fact he is not top of the World Championship table suggests he is not the best rider in the world either!
-
Don't worry, they did not even update the cancellation of Saturdays GP! I had checked it Saturday evening when confused why I could not find the GP on Eurosport.
