  1. For any riders etc looking for sponsorship it is good to know as soon as possible as you can let potential sponsors know where their names will be appearing
  2. Sad but oh so true. I remember getting daily ( and sometimes twice daily) press releases / updates on the kent twitter feed / website etc. sometimes I thought it was overload at times but still checked every day to see what was happening and then ...... It stopped. We know there's conflict at the club but to the casual observer they've ceased to exist. Even in the closed season people like to be kept informed. I follow a few clubs and riders on twitter and it's the best way of keeping up to date on what's going on. I'm nearly 50. If I get it , why can't the promotors ?? It seems to be a question of " I don't understand internet. Therefore it's rubbish"
  3. I think it'll be struggling to find competetive riders !
  4. Let's hope it's sorted at the AGM or I can see some teams really struggling to get riders.
  5. Well that's helping the youngsters development isn't it ?
  6. Unless the rules change at the AGM, Adam's average is 0.25 over the limit. This makes him unable to ride for any team in the NL in only his second year of riding speedway.
  7. Difference between Bordeaux and Claret..... none Difference between Bordeaux and Clairet.... lots
  8. Sorry, haven't been there yet, it's so far north from where i live i got beaten back by polar bears when 30kms away. Going to the big international grasstracks over here with lights/music etc, it frustrates me when i go to a uk speedway and hear music that was out of date when i used to live in England. (1989 !!!!)
  9. pre meeting photoshoot with the rider, choose one rider per week , Advertise it the previous week and give the fans a chance to have their photo taken with their favourite rider. Pit walks, Loud ( modern ) music, DJ's etc ..... get people interested !
  10. Just checking the Ipswich witches website under sponsorship. It's calculated that each meeting costs a rider a minimum of £195 to race. That doesn't include diesel to get there or any major breakages in terms of accidents etc. in my personal experience that's not too far from the truth. Throw in the cost of a mechanic, plus the expense of upgrading kit to be competetive at elite league level and it gives you a rough idea of what Brits are up against if the proposed £40 limit is true. At the moment it's a case of wait and see but just replacing foreigners with young British riders should not be looked at by the clubs as a money saving excercise but as an investment in the future.
  11. I didn't realise there were lots of " speedway journalists" most of the features in the star are just re- hashes of club press releases and the "best of British" feature seems to be a convenient way of padding out 12 pages for half the winter.
  12. Not possible i'm afraid he's ready another clubs asset. I hope the £40 a point is all that's on offer as it would seriously hamper the ability to keep equipment at the level needed to remain competetive. Being able to do all three divisions would also help development/ ability etc.
  13. See above. Even if they do want to. In some cases they can't.
  14. Also his pl average is slightly too high to allow him to ride in the NL even though he's only been riding one year. Robbing him of more track time and income
  15. I know. My son is one of the young Brits. I know. My son is one of the young Brits.
  16. I can't work out if you're very stupid or very very stupid. Did Kunta Kinte have to buy a van, two bikes, tools , kevlars, helmets etched.. Pay a mechanic, diesel and engine servicing ? It's a job for lots of riders. If you're not racing, you're working on bikes. Would you do all that work with the fair chance that some weeks you may end up injured / out of pocket.?
  17. Great ... If that's the case the pay is less than in the premier league !
  18. As a subscriber ( and probably will be again next year) the last 3 weeks issues have remained largely unread. I realise it's the closed season but after a cursory glance there doesn't seem to be anything that hasn't been seen on here. It does seem over the top to dedicate the front cover and 13 pages to Peter Craven, ( great though he was) is this what we have to look forward to for the next ten weeks ?
  19. Is it just me or will anyone seeing the last 3 weeks covers in the newsagents dismiss the magazine as some kind of vintage specialist publication as opposed to an exciting sport which is trying to encourage new younger fans ?
  20. How could you say that Ellis wasn't s 3 pointer at the start of the season. He hadn't even raced a speedway bike until the previous July.
  21. What happens with all the dirt that gets thrown onto the speedway track ?
  22. With changes afoot in the EL and whatever is happening behind the scenes as hinted on Facebook One wonders if this years riders are getting a tad nervous about finding team spots with the amount of time this appears to be taking.
  23. Allegedly Hancock was on 5 grand a meeting...... how many young brits would that have helped out ?
  24. I'm happy with the decision. It will mean a lot of personal investment and bank loans to further my sons career but if it helps him become a better rider and Britains speedway in years to come it'll be worth it .... Now can those sponsors who threw money at foreign journeymen be tempted to help out the Brits ?
