Jenga was there.
-
Enjoyed my visits to Sandy Lane and the notorious Blackbird Leys estate which backed onto the stadium. Great local rivalry with Swindon. Was always good to see the Cowley stadium mostly full of Robins fans too! Remember seeing the great Ole Olsen score a sublime 15 point maximum riding for Coventry in the mid seventies at Cowley. Fairly scorched the track he was so fast. Tidy little circuit. Sadly missed. Let's hope for a return. Just reassuring knowing you are there on the Somerset thread Jenga
-
Great opener for the Rebels. Shows the progressive thinking of the Somerset management..... Isn't that right Jenga?
-
Ha! That's rich!
-
He's clearly not busy enough on the night shift
-
You must visit the OTA Jenga. Come down and sample some cider and watch some cracking speedway.
-
Nice to see you on the Somerset thread yet again.

Josh, Brady and Richie are all capable of improving their respective averages. Starkey will also look to kick on from last season. The engine room containing Wrighty and Lanham looks solid enough, especially at the OTA. I predict a top 4 finish with Kurtz finishing the season as the Rebels number one.

Somerset also but let's face it, it's very rare.
-
What teams do keep the same line up come season end? Happy that the Rebels have a decent and competent team. We shall see.

He's a heat 15 dodger these days. -
Ordinary? Josh, Worrall and Kurtz as the heatleaders, supported by Wright and Lanham in the engine room. Don't see that as ordinary. It will take a good side to beat them at the OTA and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rebels win away from home at some of the bigger tracks. All 3 heatleaders have plenty of potential to improve. Top 4 for me.

Greenwood has asked to be released due to work commitments. X
-
Also rans? How do you work that one out, the season hasn't started yet!
-
I reckon the Somerset management will show a little more imagination than that!
-
Similarly, Briggo was superb around Plough Lane.

What was rare Sid was visiting number ones having a complete nightmare meeting at Blunsdon. For example in recent seasons I recall riders like Zagar, NIcholls, Pedersen and Andersen scoring 4 or 5 points. Can't recall that happening in the 70's. Normally visiting number ones were feared and would produce double figure returns.
-
Haven't read the whole thread but I watched most of the 70's at Swindon, following the team home and away. I took a 20 year break from the sport before returning in 2006. The things I noticed most were riders not shutting off entering the bends and the lack of full maximums from teams number one riders. Nowadays the number ones do seem to get beaten more often by second strings than they were back in the 70's.

Yawn....

Todd Kurtz was pretty good too. Always looking for his team mate. -
If no Jack Holder, just wondering if there would be enough room to squeeze Todd Kurtz back in? Still be a decent side with some strength in depth.
-
Why do you bother engaging with him? Totally baffling.
