  1. Jenga tedious? Surely not! Mind you, he does pop up on most threads with his 'input'. Surely he's not another KKS metamorphism?
  2. Agreed Bernt. Peterborough my other favourite track. Going back, like you, Hyde Road, and The Shay at Halifax stand out.
  3. To be fair Oldtimer, you have been spoilt watching speedway at the OTA week after week. I grew up watching speedway at Swindon, which in my opinion was one of the best and fairest race tracks in the country, but on a good day, there were nowhere near as many passes and exciting races as there are on as you say an "average" meeting at Somerset.
  4. Tell you what, you missed a great meeting. The racing was once again superb on a well prepared surface. Oh and the Rebels notched up 60 again Jenga.
  5. Thought I would start this thread. (Especially for Starman) Another thumping home win coming up, even without Brady Kurtz and Pontus Aspgren. No surprise if the Rebels hit 60 again. Josh should at least keep the Rebels honest but just can't see any firepower anywhere else. Hope I'm proved wrong. The racing will still be top drawer though. The track this season has produced decent racing all season.
  6. Good looking? Fine rider, a definite GP regular (as will be young Pawlicki) but not good looking!
  7. I always enjoy my trip to the EOES. Definitely one of the best racing tracks in the country. Have to say the crowds at Peterborough have been poor in the last few years (compared to Swindon at least).
  8. Fair play to you stato, mega journey for you guys, must have been a late return to Somerset?
  9. Actually, Jensen looked very quick in his last 3 rides on his last visit. Mixed it too with the Rebels riders.
  10. Another hammering in store for the visitors, even without Kurtz and Aspgren.
  11. What has starting a thread got to do with anything starman? Not everyone has the time or inclination to go onto a forum to give their opinions or predictions prior to a match. Often it is a day or two later before I personally get an opportunity to post. This season at Somerset crowds are down (like most other tracks) but from where I sit, I haven't seen a lack of interest. The racing this year,( especially the last four or five meeting since the extra shale has been put down) has been first class. The crowd are involved and occasionally vocal. Those that have chosen not to attend this year are missing a treat! Rarely have I witnessed a team of riders with an absolute desire to win every race they ride in. They collectively have a ruthless streak and I cannot see another team come close to leaving the OTA with anything other than a thrashing, even without Brady Kurtz.
  12. He rode One of Brady's engines throughout Friday's meeting before blowing it to pieces in his lst race! Meant to read last race.
  13. Yes this meeting would have been more attractive with Kyle Newman in it, but the Devils still put up a decent fight. Barker, Simota and latterly Jensen gave the Plymouth fans something to cheer about. Once again heat 15 was an incredible race with the lead and minor places changing hands. Four abreast going into turn 3 lap one. Barker was very hard on young Brady but he still kept coming back for more. Fantastic race. The "coming together' after the race had finished proved a talking point and Barker retuned to being the pantomime villain for not the first time in his career! Whilst it is disappointing not to see full teams, the standard of racing at the OTA remains exceptional.
  14. Olly seems to have Sussex out the quickest way around the OTA. Moreover, he is ruthless where it matters going into the first turn. Once in front, he rarely looks behind and is rarely ever passed. Much has been said about Brady Kurtz's stunning and courageous ride in heat 15, but Paul Starke pulled off two superb passes too during the match. Both of which were on his numer two machine. Number one bike was blown up at the starting gate in heat two. Sedgmen made a decent fist of it, as did Fricke. I actually thought Masters looked quick but he too often got caught up in 'traffic', especially thwarted by his own team mates. Still, he did save himself a hefty fine from Ronnie Allen, as the gestures he made to the refs box after his exclusion for tape touching in heat 9, were deemed not to be abusive or indeed ungentlemeny! Decent crowd last night especially with threatening clouds circling overhead throughout the meeting. Spare a thought to a handful of Monarchs fans who made it down to Somerset. In the previous few days they had visited Glasgow, Newcastle, Bellevue, and Cradley and watched only one race due to the weather. At least they took in some racing last night!
  15. Dream on shaders. The Rebels sense a wounded animal in the shape of Rye House. Thumping away win for me.
  16. It's usually you or I Cliffeboy that starts a Rebels thread these days. I think you have pretty much summarised this fixture. One can't help feeling this will be the Rockets third hammering of the season at the OTA. Kennett apart, they haven't looked competitive on their previous visits. Hopefully the attendance will continue on the upward trend (excluding the mid week fixture against Sheffield which was poor) My prediction is Ez to produce another superb racing surface and Rebels to hit 60.
  17. Superbly prepared racetrack every week means Rebels fans are treated to excellent racing no matter what teams line up. I have to say I predicted a heavy defeat for Sheffield last night, but Bunyan apart, all of the Tigers gave it a real go. As others have said, a cracking meeting.
  18. I went to the match at the OTA. Plymouth fought hard initially and kept it close early on before the Rebels took control. Olly Allen looks sublime around his home track at the moment. Full of confidence and making very quick starts. For the Devils, Barker was good value for money and always in the mix. Also impressed with Jensen who was very combative. Unfortunately apart from two fine rides by Newman, Plymouth had very little else to offer, especially in the latter stages. I will stick my neck out and say Somerset won't be beaten at home this season. Good crowd, probably the best attendance (pairs meeting apart) of the season. Obviously a different story the following day at the SBA!
  19. Surely the threat of Todd Kurtz coming back to haunt you hasn't put you off Baldy?
  20. I am sure Todd needs no more motivation after he reads this post. Moreover, he's in fine form at the moment.
  21. Happens all the time with every club ruff diamond. In recent years Simon Stead took stick from some Swindon fans, despite the Robins being top of the league. This season some Kings Lynn fans have been debating whether or not Kenneth Bjerre should be replaced. Lynn are currently 17 points clear at the top of the Elite league!!!
  22. Don't get too hung up on it White Knight. It might be better to discuss the Failings of the Newcastle riders on a different thread however
  23. The issue for me was Somerset were starting to click into gear and Newcastle needed to do something quickly to stay in the match. Admittedly Lindgren had been very average in his opening rides and Robbo not at his best although competitive as ever, so English should have tried to stop the Rebels momentum by using either Lingren or Robson in heats 9 or 10 respectively. Yes they would have faced stiff opposition in the shape of Brady Kurtz and Nick Morris, but how many times do we see riders who are performing ordinarily suddenly pull a win out of the bag when they are wearing black and white?
