  1. Agree orlovski, a trophy for the league winners and one for playoff winners, like they have in rugby league and a couple of other team sports. A few people I know that don't watch speedway think its unusual, but its a moneyspinner.I don't think Wolves have ever finished top but they have been "champions" a few times. Then you had Coventry champs after beating Poole in 2010, even though they were over 20 points behind them, can you imagine that in Football Premier League. Probably why speedway is seen as a bit of a Mickey Mouse minority sport by most. I love the playoffs though.
  2. They changed it when they said give us a B etc.,! ran out of steam
  3. Branksome Chine where we stay just in Poole, next door Alum Chine is Bournemouth, is there rivalry between these two towns? can remember when big brash Bournemouth was in Hampshire.
  4. Good work...we watched the Islanders about 6 years ago when on holiday, friendly club, good set up, about 150 there that night. What crowds are they getting now? Good luck.
  5. Around 9000 went through the Shabbey's rusty gates for those 4 dates in 11 days recently, but if Swindon had stayed second bottom would have been a lot less, some poor crowds in first half of season, until they went on that record winning run. They need that new stadium to keep the fans coming. Far better crowds when Leigh Adams was riding.
  6. Which two? Will go 45 all at Poole, and 48-41 to the rip roaring rockin n rollin rampant randy red Robins at the Shabbey. A right ole west country tear up.
  7. Would have to spend the second week in Bournemouth and Boscombe.
  8. Enjoy my speedway now as much as when I started going in 1963 at New Cross. It helps when my local team Swindon are top of the league, better atmosphere, bigger crowds.
  9. Why the bloody ell can't they have this the following Monday, as on me olidays in Poole then! Should be closer than the last couple of times these famous west country clubs met, Robins scoring 56 home and away, got boring. First 2 fixtures early on were a draw at The Abbey and narrow win for Swindon at Poole, more exciting, so would take that if BWD and Dave B are on form.
  10. Orrible those sombrero wearing mouthy sods, a lot worse than the Blunsdon back straight bog crew!
  11. Poole are the only team to win at Wolves, if they got past Swindon they would fancy their chances.
  12. Why? They haven't lost to Poole this season...yet! Won 3 drawn 1, but against Belle Vue won 2 lost 2, same as Wolves. We have the Mancs in Cup semis.
  13. Not bovvered who Windon pick, would like to see an all west country final as in 2012, was a cracker. Wolves would be good, beat Swindon 2009 final, brought lots of noisy football type fans, best away support i've seen at The Abbey.
  14. Aarnio rode well, was beating Fast Freddie when his engine blew. BWD will be back with new engines for playoffs, hopefully lend one to Dave B.
  15. 37 home meetings in 1979, with big crowds according to my bruv, a lot of kids can't go on a Thursday as school next day. And some peeps prefer to go out on a Friday and Saturday night.
  16. Cheers, had a 30 year break 1970s-2000s! always preferred Sats
  17. When did speedway switch from Saturday to Thursday at Blunsdon?
  18. When did Swindon switch from Saturday to Thursday? More peeps went on a Sat, better for kiddies.
  19. Not posh enough, Blunsdon Arms, Jovial Monk, and Manor Farm for me.
  20. I also live in the parish of Royal Haydon Wick, its so posh we even get out of the bath to have a pee!
  21. Ok just getting into car now, should be there in time
