Я хочу 7500 фунтов стерлингов за встречу; авиабилеты для моего польского механика и менеджера, а также чтобы вы каждый раз забирали нас из аэропорта Станстед и отвозили обратно. That's a fair question, I think it's about egos having more power than the engines so vanity not sanity. -

As Dean alludes, the ACU have got themselves in a right mess with Grass Track and have lost Track Racing Committee Members one after the other since they treat Paul Hurry very shabbily. It currently has a "steering" group made up of ACU officials and representatives from regional clubs holding the fort until a solution can be found. They can't make their mind up which way to go so are conducting a "root and branch" review of the sport before deciding a way forward. Have a look at the press releases on the ACU web page and you'll see it all has a familiar ring to it. -

This may be of interest from almost 50 years ago, a passage from an Ivan Mauger book first published in 1976 which attributes the piece to George Barclay; "If 1976 was the year that saw a comparative explosion of press and television coverage, I hope '77 will be a year that sees speedway being accepted by the media nationally. To establish this we must put our house in order and lose the incidents that make us seem a joke sport. After all, what other sport has it's rules and regulations drawn up only to see them over-ruled by "special dispensation" on so many issues? In what other league competition can a competitor appear for teams other than his own, and by doing so jeopardise his own teams chance of championship honours? Walk outs! Either by individuals or by whole teams. These and many other silly facets can only cause harm to speedway, and the circumstances leading to them must be eradicated once and for all. For surely they prevent our sport being respected as a serious one and worthy of "press" attention even though it is so largely supported. The time is long overdue for the relative ruling bodies to get together in amending the rules with speedway the consideration. We know it would benefit us all eventually." Oaksey was the editor so I dare say there's a bit of his own agenda in there. -

Wrong forum for him but if he did join this forum he could come on as Gareth Nutley or Arthur Rogers.... -

This unfortunately is the profile and image of Speedway in this country. A "Bobble hat sport with jumpers for goalposts" -

That's because it's media spin, better known as Bullsh1t! The "contract" is actually a "rider agreement" form and doesn't usually take effect until it's been registered and countersigned by the BSPL thereafter the opening date of the season. Promoters are really telling their competitors "he's mine, hands off" -

In fairness to the family Bob was always strong enough to stand up to the BSPA and threatened to close it many times if it didn't work for them. I know you are part of the consortium to revive the Eagles but the Dugards have seen and heard it all before. Bob was never my favourite promoter but he did give it every best shot.

Not one of them is capable of trusting someone else, independent or not, to manage their finances or sporting affairs. Anyone who has had any nouse or enthusiasm for the bigger picture has historically been driven out of the BSPA/L even Phil Morris has capitulated and moved the goalposts two seasons in a row. We are following the Village Fete Committee and expecting them to run the Olympics- so, so sad. -

I'm struggling with this restructure, Mayfield have been involved for a couple of years now and frankly have been out of their depth. Just how or what will improve I don't know but this could just be a slight of hand transfer of risk to move liabilities and create an opportunity to jump start the "positive" side of the GPs and give them breathing space. WBD had a torrid start with Covid which in my opinion killed their plans and enthusiasm for their overall global strategy, even their broadcasting platforms are still work in progress. -
I've always respected your views you make many valid points, there is an element of the above post that poses a stark real issue for me. We see so many times the level of cheating/manipulation that goes on to win a £350 trophy can you imagine just how bent it would get if they had a decent purse for winning the league? I've always said if genuine supporters knew what really went on they'd never go again, very sadly they appear to be finding out and staying away, I haven't been to a meeting for 2 seasons and in the preceding 4 seasons only Cardiff each year and Torun once. Disappointed to say the least.

My understanding is he was propping it up by £12k to £13k a meeting - these were his losses after gate receipts. Operating costs for Premiership home meetings begin with a 2 almost a 3 in some cases

This of course knackers the cash, cash, cash flow from the van loads of scrap metal/meters removed and taken to London. They've literally run out of brass! -

I've never believed anything other than Speedway being an airtime filler particularly when Sky went big on live sport. In the summertime Sky had one hell of a lot of live airtime to fill so this sport was ideal. They made a success of it because the audiences were consistent and they didn't scrimp on production costs despite BT having their pants down on the uplink charges. Rain offs became a very expensive irritant particularly when mardi prima donnas refused to ride in not perfect conditions and stadium presentation became a bit of an eyesore (grass growing down the straights at kirky Lane and many tracks not being rrsed to clean the air fences and Sky banners) to the point when the budget was blown on footy it was easy to pay up the Speedway contract and save on production costs. Financially Sky and Speedway were doing each other a favour £1.1m a year to fill all that airtime was cost effective for Sky and for Speedway £1.1m a year was manna from heaven and some promotions couldn't even clean the Sky banners. -

I've cancelled my subscription, £7 a month has been affordable £31 just isn't despite the offer of 50% discount for 7 months. Sounds petty I know but it is unfortunately a harsh reality. -

Your persistent juvenile comments about "pensioners" are starting to grind, just like Starmer and Reeves you haven't got a ckufing clue. I'd like nothing more than to be able to pay £25 to see it live or afford the cost of a BSN subscription, the best I can do is Discovery plus. You have always been on the not so bright side Daniel but from my perspective it really is time to keep your posts and comments relevant and in perspective.
