Time to give Poole council a nudge I believe. Nothing wrong with making sure the council know the fans are worried about the leaseholder. A short and clear message that Poole fans are a little worried that the leaseholder is asking for ridiculous rent increases when it is not prepared to run any sports themselves would suffice. This guy is leader of the council. Drew.Mellor@bcpcouncil.gov.uk I sent this short message. Dear Mr Mellor, I am hearing rumours that there is an issue at Poole Stadium and the continued use of the stadium by Poole Pirates Speedway, due to the lease holder trying to increase the rent by an amount far beyond the regular annual increase. Whilst all businesses are struggling at this difficult time, for a lease holder to try and exploit the situation is frankly unacceptable. The lease holder seems unfit to hold the lease, considering all it does is charge for the car park and offer nothing else. What benefits does it offer the people of Poole? It does not offer any sports at the stadium. If it were not for the speedway the stadium would be classed as obsolete. The speedway is extremely popular with the people of Poole, Bournemouth and surrounding areas and the crowds have held up well at a time when covid has been a hard felt issue. It brings kudos to the town, brings in fans from other clubs who spend money in the area, and the team has a reputation as being winners. Now is the time to back our club, stop these nonsense demands from the leaseholder and make sure the sport continues and goes from strength to strength in future years. With kind regards and a Merry Christmas, Steve Shovlar

Complin? Seriously? Looking at that team, they are wooden spoon winners. It really is a shame a team can be made up of Starke and a bunch of also rans. I paid my first ever visit to Newcastle last season for the double header with Plymouth. A decent crowd which was good but the Poole meeting was a one sided slaughter. And that Newcastle team looked stronger than this one. Now I fully understand that teams are built to a budget, but a winning team attracts more fans through the door and this team will struggle to score enough points to win at home. I wish Newcastle every success in 2022. Perhaps they could ask moneybags NUFC to be club sponsor. A fraction of a percent of NUFC’s budget would guarantee the clubs survival.

A shame it never worked out. He talked the talk, but couldn’t walk the walk. Well not around Wimborne Road anyway. At least he got a full season in but be surprised if he finds a berth in 2022. Too rough around the edges and possibly started his career years too late. Great on social media though.

We all know the Poole lineup bar perhaps the number 7. we are going to be challenging at the top as usual, guaranteed a playoff berth and if we steer clear of injuries, have a great chance of retaining our title. Other clubs spending a fortune in an attempt to buy the title might find they are beaten by 7 riders, riding as a team with Middlo orchestrating from the pits. Plus a grandstand full of passionate fans cheering on the team. Come on you Mighty Pirates!

Poole are run on a budget. The same as Newcastle. Just that the budget is much higher than Newcastles. By the look of it though, one team is so desperate for the title which seems to always elude them, that the owners deep pockets have come into play to fulfil his desire for the title. Certainly the crowd size they get won’t cover the price of the team. Their fans better have their fingers crossed their team are successful. Thing is, Poole as a club have a winning mentality. Hard to beat, especially over two legs. Add to that if riders are not on their A game they are under threat of their place in the team. No going through the motions. There’s a reason Middlo is the best team manager in the league. He gets the best out of the riders who want to be winners.

Heard he didn’t pay his share of Van hire. When pressed to do so he wasn’t forthcoming. Not sure whether that was hearsay or the truth.
-
Ok. Good rider. Thought we might make a move on him.
-
It’s obvious Steve and Danny are signed. We can work out 5 riders easily enough. Question. Where is Ryan Douglas riding in the Championship?

Lawson is 38? Owned by? Basso is 20? So if we said a loan fee of £5000, x 18 seasons? 90,000 quid. £50,000 seems a bargain.
-
No. Full fee. No loan I should imagine.
-
I went to London this afternoon. Left at 12.30 pm, did the business, and drove back to Poole arriving at 5.30. Amazing this place Poole. So close to London the the back of nowhere. As others have said, Basso is a Poole asset and Matt wants paying. Guess he is the equivalent of Verstappen a couple of years ago so the fee needs to be around £50,000 minimum. This Faccenna chap has deep pockets so let’s hope he doesn’t have short arms. Poach a rider, pay the fee.

Taking about the 2004 WTC Final…this never gets boring.
-
And neither venue would attract a decent crowd. Neutral track is no good it will not attract the local crowd in decent numbers. Holding it at Poole guarantees a sell out. The Poole crowd will make up 3/4 of the attendance with holiday makers/other fans making up the rest. Can’t say that of BV or Sheffield who have smaller crowds than Poole.
-
And what a fantastic event it was, though we were robbed by Andersen’s antics at the death.
-
Sheffield or Belle Vue is in the north, not the middle of the country.
-
Come for a trip along the coast with me from Southbourne to Sandbanks.

Think you will discover Poole is the gateway to the world renowned Jurassic Coast, and along with Bournemouth is the UK’s premier holiday resort with 7 miles of golden sands. A mecca for the rich, with lots of famous sports stars past and present living here. A beautiful area that attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. (Sometimes way too many as was seen in tv last year) Hardly the arse end of nowhere, considering we are just 90 minutes from London.
-
They were quoted as bringing streaming in house rather than use an outside company that was not financially viable.
-
It will be packed. Poole fans alone fill the stadium. Add in fans from Elsewhere and the stadium is capacity. A fair track that racers love and it should be a great event. And Trackerman on here now looks after the track.
-
Excellent news. Hopefully on a Saturday night under the lights.
-
Yet you can’t resist responding. Really. Give it up. A pointless exchange. Poole are the Champions. Leave it at that.
-
I think I have assumed completely correctly what type of person you are.
-
I am just joshing. Already said they have a good team next season.
-
If you throw enough money at a team, some of it will stick.
-
Still chomping on sour grapes? Your team were well beaten in the final. Time to move on and take a chill pill.
