Somerset v Poole Prem B. 20/8/18

Harris likes to race. The track didn’t allow much in the way of racing and Harris’s blasts around the outside sent him backwards. -

Very true. Yet again another trip to Somerset and yet again a not very good meeting. But before anyone thinks it’s sour grapes, well done to Somerset on a relatively easy win over a lacklustre pirates. Only one good race with Harris battling with Holder, the rest was very average fodder with hardly any outside passing. The home team took advantage of knowing the only passing line was right around the inside and the Poole guys just didn’t twig this until it was too late. Get up the inside and you are made. No matter how hard you try to blast around the outside, you will just go backwards. Doyle was untouchable tonight and a class above, backed up by Holder. Pirates just don’t have that kind of firepower and Kurtz had another mare. In fact none of the Pirates heat leaders covered themselves in glory. Very poor. Best Poole riders were Klindt who battled all night, and Woryna, another who gave his all. Special mention to Freddie Jakobsen on his first ever visit and battled well. A poor Pirates performance and a 12 point defeat. Not good enough in a playoff meeting. Looks like it’s going to be Somersets to lose and in all honesty would take a major choke for them not to end up as champions. -

Never known a thread so quiet considering the meeting is tonight. Seems fans on both sides are worried about saying anything in case it comes back to bite them! Some drizzle/mizzle about this morning but I can’t see it being called off. Both teams at full strength. Somerset will be right up for this after last weeks defeat and will come out with all guns blazing. Poole are notoriously slow starters away and need to compete from the start rather than heat 5. I expect Somerset to have enough in the bag for a win and a point for Poole will be an acheivement. Heats 13 and 15 could give an 8 point swing to Somerset so we need all 7 riders scoring tonight. 48-42. -

I believe Swindon will win this one. No Schlein, and Thorsell in diabolical form. Masters hot and cold. Swindon by 6. -

Third. The Danes gave the Poles a bit of a scare though. -
Bloody hell what a bottleneck getting in and out of the carpark.

Very much so. Could be either Freddie, Josh or Richie heading to the reserve berth. -

Nicolai has been banging in very good scores. Rather have him than r/r any day. His last scores inc bonus points have been 10, 18, 10, 11, 11, 7, 9, 9. Doubt r/r will cover. -
Well after Belle Vue picked up 4 points tonight at Swindon, the Robins know they need to winat Wimborne Road next Wednesday to have a chance of a top 4 finish. Lady luck is certainly shining on them as Pirates are without Nicolai Klindt and Freddie Jackobsen, both riding in Denmark. R/R covers Klindts rides and Matt Ford has drafted in Riss for Freddie. We are certainly going to miss Nicolai who has been excellent since coming into the team. R/R won’t cover adequately. Although Freddie has had 2 poor meetings in a row, he will also be missed and it’s doubtful our guest will do much. Swindon have the opportunity to rectify the home defeat. Will they manage to repeat the A fixture, or will Poole gain revenge?

Looks like Kurtz has done more than Cook would have done tonight. But fear not Swindon fans, as next Wednesday your lot can get back the points you lost tonight when you come to Poole next Wednesday with our seriously weakened team. No Klindt (r/r) or Jackobsen (M Riss guests). The opportunity to rectify tonight. Will your lot take the points which will be virtually handed to you on a silver plate? Or will we see more choking like tonight?
