Do we need some new faces ?

The original intention was just for British youngsters to gain top flight experience but self interest ruled and it became a free for all -

And even a huge influx of cash will only delay the inevitable. we need a independent body with a long term plan. Two divisions of similar size with promotion and relegation. two of British speedways successes are Team GB and BSN. Both nothing to do with current promotions. -
Another view is he could have continued and lost enough money to not be able to continue in 27. maybe the bombshell has just been dropped 12 months early. The end result is still the same.

Would YOU be prepared to underwrite any losses that Ipswich speedway incurs next season. ? We already know that £60k needs to be found to replace the tv money. A new air fence also needs purchasing too. less fixtures with a much weaker product and more repetition is going to lessen income too. oh yes I’d definitely risk my house for it.

Exactly. The whole package is worth much more than a big points deal what is interesting though and has seemed to be the case for 30 years or so is that Poole sponsors are loyal to the team rather than the rider. so when a Poole rider moves on the sponsorship goes and is given instead to a incoming rider. most riders tend to keep sponsors going forward despite changing clubs.

Peterborough Panthers 2023

Absolutely brilliant meeting. Typical Nicki pedersen completely oblivious of his team mate and hindering them -
I believe both of those offers were conditional on Chris staying on and running the club on behalf of someone else. Which after last time he didn’t want to do.
-
No tv money worth £60k and a new airfence is required probably approx £35k So a deficit of ££95k before a wheel has touched the track. Prospective purchasers please form an orderly queue.

Fully understand and accept your opinion Aries. like many others I’ve followed the club for 40 years and I feel like there has been a death in the family with the thought of no Ipswich speedway. during my life of ups and downs it’s always been my escape and enjoyment. like I said earlier I don’t know the full story and I imagine it will never fully be told. I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing tbh. fingers crossed we have some good news very soon and we can return to normal and follow the witches.

Knowing the standard of how well the BSPL have written the rule book it will be as watertight as a colander. depends if he agreed to run in a 6 team league I guess. He did make it clear he wasn’t going to participate in a 5 team league before the sale announcement.
-
Until we know the full facts it’s very difficult to apportion blame. chris is keeping a dignified silence atm rather than mud slinging as you would expect but something substantial has obviously happened to get to this point.

Maybe you would like to provide the £95,000 deficit out of your own pocket ? Chris hasn’t thrown out the toys imo. No threats of closure etc. purely I require a 6 team league for my business to be sustainable. That’s not possible so he is selling up as is his right to do so
-
I’m not sure what would be worse. Tolley and Rogers or no speedway. plenty of vultures flying over foxhall looking for riders atm
-
Dan Thompson signs for Leicester. very sad to see him move on but it’s a great career move for him as he rides the track so well. been great to see him blossom from rising star to where he is now It was dans improvement which gained us the league title imo hope we get a chance to see you at foxhall

Add the fact that next years budget is down £95k before a wheel is turned due to the fact that there is no tv money and a brand new air fence to purchase. less fixtures and less variety may lead to smaller crowds will the sponsors put in as much money with no tv coverage? Who knows but as this is the Louis only income why would you gamble everything you have built up in a 5 team league which is doomed. I wouldn’t risk my house on it
-
Suggests Ipswich not running then ?

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
Racin Jason 72 replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
For the 40th consecutive year since I’ve been watching the sport !!! -
And next season there may be no tv money. Add the cost of a new airfence and with the prospect of a 5 team premiership less fixtures and the same old faces but more regular. the fans will pick and choose and crowds will diminish. will the sponsors pay the same sponsorship now there is no tv deal and national coverage? I can completely understand why Chris Louis has put the club up for sale.
-
He wouldn’t make that mistake twice
-
Yes I am worried there may be no speedway. we had a save our speedway in 1995 and like many others I’m a member of the 400 club some 30 years on but this scenario isn’t a financial one at the moment. The club is extremely well run and has many sponsors and is viable. however next season there won’t be no tv money which is rumoured to be £60k. Not only that will the sponsors want to pay the same money for no national tv coverage ? Unlikely. if the league is reduced to 5 teams will fans pick and choose or stop coming so often because it’s the same old faces ? Chris Louis deserves a lot of credit and respect for what he has done for our club and I can only imagine this is his last resort. im guessing as this is his primary income he isn’t going to gamble it away in a 5 team league. Maybe some of the other teams which are subsidised by their owners are willing to? Who knows. I don’t agree with some saying he has thrown his toys out. Like all democratic organisations you reform from within but he seems to have reached a point where he has had enough and doesn’t like the direction the sport is going. there had been no mud slinging just a for sale notice going up at foxhall. im desperately hoping a resolution can be reached and Chris will carry on but I’m less optimistic. But thank you to John and Chris for providing us with such service over so many years.
