Periscope. A Promoters Nightmare App.
ColinMills replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
really dont think speedway would be effected by this streaming myself. if people are interested theyd simply go. you can follow speedway updates, these people like speedway, but not enough to go, and think anyone looking at some poor quality streaming are probably the same...of course i have no statistics on this matter, just an opinion. -
Coventry's New Stadium
ColinMills replied to Humphrey Appleby's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
totally agree, definitely an aged stadium, but facilities way above the norm in british speedway -
that's modern day speedway PR for you!
-
working/non working, everyone will go, if they really want too. One thing you notice, is, once supporters stop going, its rare they ever come back
-
id describe a quality night of speedway, 2 teams (7 contracted riders to that club) no d/u no f.t.r. names that are appealing (take the old star golden helmet of the 70s) great draw before heat 1. in any form of entertainment, the bigger the name the bigger the attraction...if I was to buy a ticket at the 02, id probably buy one for Bon Jovi, not a local band learning the trade!....people say its just 15 minutes, but when its dished up with passion like the play offs, its worth every penny
-
you try doing a football coupon and getting a treble up, its so hard, the results are so unpredictable in premiership and championship. but if you take speedway, POOLE vs LEICESTER, ...BELLE VUE vs COVENTRY etc, the only thing you could try to predict is the size of the victory. its predictable. Now you go to Cardiff, or the world cup final, you know you will watch something meaningful, cut throat, passionate, with atmosphere. no-one moans bout prices in those events.
-
IF BEES get a winning side, no-one will care or mention the price!
-
what wording could anyone come up with to sell a modern day match? any league? names are not big enough to attract, product isn't right.
-
speedway is watered down so much, it has nowhere to go now. Promoters, rightly or wrongly wont ever risk teams we once had
-
how much would the full page advert in SS cost every week, to promote the GP? does this ever increase the Cardiff crowd? Anybody who pays £2.90 for that magazine is fully aware of Cardiff, so id suggest £3k plus on that would be wasted
-
so my comment of quality teams would get more in stadiums is "clueless" is it? thanks for your expert "opinion", I know I wont watch NL or PL, as I prefer higher standard. So I'm speaking on behalf of myself ok? In fact your line (4 up from bottom) states "yes, crowds would be bigger", so dont contradict yourself!!. I never mentioned finance, I never said its the way speedway should go, so maybe you should take in what you read, instead of being CLUELESS..I believe cost of a meeting may stop people going, personally I have never let that determine whether I go or not, I don't think £17 is over priced for a night out.
-
fully aware of that, its a frustrating start...
-
think levels has narrowed since the last time that happened. some EL line ups consist of 5 prem riders
-
yes, one league, 7 riders, rid us of this mix n match...bring speedway back to a proper team sport
-
who do you hear moan bout Cardiff prices? its only league racing this discussion occurs. speedway now have more stadiums running under 1,000 than ever before
-
I couldn't watch NL, no interest, PL not for me either. you pay your money, make your choice.
-
I'm fully aware of what you say, I'm just replying to what was said.
