just had the misfortune to view this idotic thread from this idiot......he loves to create a response, well, not ever again will I waste my
time responding to rob72.....totally ignorant!!
unsure the top riders would be in a rush to ride here, as gp"s are now up to 12 rounds(?), im pretty sure, if they can afford it, one days rest, is something they would probably want/need to keep...the introduction in 95 had just 6 rounds, its a lot different now
john earrey was fantastic...absolute natural, the war cry at the right time, at times going into the crowd, meeting the away crowd,
walking round all 4 corners of the stadium, knew the sport inside-out, known to the crowd, even his own catchphrase "so long as we know"
watching speedway on mainstream tv with household name commentators on world of sport....dickie davies, dave lanning, fred dinage, how did it go so wrong so quickly??
wasn't the buzz of the golden helmet fantastic? even that got ruined on its comeback...when it was involved every meeting
it lost its appeal... the "golden era" we had a challenger turn up who wasn't even in the nights meeting, just for the golden helmet match race!!
thiose challengers were the cream of the crop..
we had our own golden oldie like hancock....john Louis winning the blrc in his 40s
I would actually agree bw with your field being stronger....this point im making could be due to my age at the time, but when I
was watching speedway in the 70s/80s, Olsen, Mauger, Briggs, Michanek, always felt a buzz going to watch them..
cant quite say the same with the current crop, but do agree that most of todays list "could" win a gp
totally agree with this particular post.....but...if we still had the old system, I have no doubt the final line up wouldn't look
like the current field is now
I only mentioned I doubted 10,000 as I been there for greyhounds, and it didn't seem overly large, but im sure they are
correct..yes, spedeworth do great advertising, with cars carrying advertising around the Yarmouth see front along with posters
it appears to be effective
did his course at kings lynn...wonderful, even though bikes were mega old...don't believe his schools still running now..
olle still living in Felixstowe I believe
the wildcards are the organisers safety net..they are always going to "share out" riders that are needed for countries
with a following...Had Emil accepted a wildcard, im guessing kildemand/Hampel would of missed out, as 2 swedes
were clearly going to be in the series
no offence, but if Jason bunyan is a top rider, larry ross at 54 isn't overly impressive......NZ speedway holds 3rd most
world titles, such a shame for their decline over the yrs
I think fans think riders actually care about the paying public...Tai (as an indidual) like you or me, does whats best for him and his family..his schedule, clearly benefits missing the elite league. I very much doubt this was an easy decision..
going for a promoter john berry.....must of upset 100s of fans when making that bold move that brought in sigalos and cook..
rider wise id go martin dugard
with double the rounds, since its introduction, jonssons lack of consistency is more evident..whereas he could pull a gp win out of the bag, over 6 rounds that in itself could keep you reasonably high, over 11/12 rounds you can get found out
