surely everyone on this thread agrees play offs get higher turnouts? but the long term survival of speedway, has to mean, march to sept is the main problem, not October?

of course its about opinions, all these threads are, but are these Tai bashers the same people who will be cheering on gb in july? Does anybody on here know for certain Tai would rather ride for oz? or just gossip mongers?

Tai bashers are becoming sooo dull and boring. I take they wont be at belle vue in july and just moaning on there keyboards afterwards!

blimey, despair in some quarters on here, the 1st three months or so are just irrelivent. teams can and will make changes (if ambitious). id love the bees to win the title on their last Brandon year, but without looking at the teams, id pick poole to be champions, simply because history shows, they don't accept 2nd best, and if needed, they will be lethal in making team changes at the right time

why are certain posters desperate to win this discussion.? some like the play offs, some don't, theres not a right or wrong. its opinions, just like politics and religion, no one is right or wrong!!

whilst this cant/wont happen in speedway, maybe if proper relegation/promotion was in this sport, then the WHOLE season would be "meaningful", which I think this thread shows. Teams wouldn't "see out" the season, and both ends would have something to race for, thus giving March to September a proper purpose. But with speedway, we have promotions choosing to stay put in lower leagues (for obvious reasons).

kind of agree with that statement, as Plymouth signed eklof to make top 6. But any club should always strengthen to keep competitive, isn't that part of being in the business? if you go through the motions, expect the crowd to do the same?

i actually think, the people who go now, would go in any case. Speedway on the whole in Britain (league wise) is on its knees. im amazed any club can survive on 500-700 in a lot of cases. the play offs are much needed money making days, just like bank holiday fixtures. i fully accept teams winning the title through the play offs, as they are the rules, it doesn't mean i agree with the concept. to go back to 98, it would of been criminal for that witches side to be robbed of the title when they"d destroyed everyone. everybody who bothers on the bsf likes speedway, but we all have differing views. some people like doubling up riders/double points rule, i personally think they are both awful. im happy for the play offs to continue, but no one can persuade me different about thinking top team should be champions

bw, on page 34 of this thread, you state they don't run 4tt, individuals because theres no "demand" for it.Personally, I see no demand for league racing from march til the play offs..! I openly admit crowds are larger for play offs, how can anyone deny that?. but again, when I last saw witches win the league in 98, it was against lowly Swindon. I recall a very very good crowd for that too, plus it was done the "proper" way.

everything has to go to the last race!. gp"s love a last heat decider, play offs last game of season, best pairs has a last race finale, british final last race decider, what a farcical sport this has become!

absolutely, can win a gp on 7pts from 5 rides! crazy, but its what these organisers seem to like!!

riders were fully commited at individual meetings mid season, before world qualifiers. it wouldn't happen today. loved individual leathers as well

even lowly teams were good to see, knowing you wouldn't see them again that year. dave Morton, reg wilsons Sheffield, riders like john boulger, chris pusey, john titman, ashby, kilby, all with teams that couldn't win the league, but still interesting to watch..

gulf oil british league....amazing times, big league, teams just once a year (except cup), no doubling up, no double points, same 1-7 (not going awol for gps), top quality individual events, golden helmet, large crowds!!

happy to explain...I must say, ss is an excellent product from start to finish, from style, pictures, features, price. I used to have it weekly without fail, along with speedway express and speedway mail. In my "older" years, I not purchased it for a while, but I happen to spot it on the shelf in local news shop..Having read it, I was disappointed. I see HA say it was a good edition, and as always, peoples views differ. For me, pages 12-23 should be at home in Backtrack. 11 pages I had no interest in. I also not interested in foreign leagues. that said, I did enjoy the rest. loved buster story, liked opening pages with up to date news, wet tyres etc. shame theres not more up to the minute news. Aussie Gp feature was good too. I don't see the point of Cardiff back page, as only people that purchase ss are already converted, and if going to Cardiff, would/should be well aware of it. As im going to Belle vue world cup, I wouldn't need SS to book tickets. whilst im at it, would like a competition feature, or even (example) pictures of pits area"s and guess the tracks they belong too..But im sure many on this thread love the ss, and long may it reign..
