  1. If Freddie did what he did on an engine being developed, and I no reason to disbelieve it, then he did really really well. It is very reasonable to think that the developments would be put into production models asap, so that means those being purchased now have all the development mods that proved +ve during 2016 incorporated into them. Of course, riders still have to be able to match the capabilities of the engine, whatever engine that be.
  2. If you think BVs problem completely centered around the failure of one night then IMO you are wrong. It was a contributing factor obviously, but I think there was much going on that forum members in general dont know much about. I recognise that some forum members are much nearer to hearing truths then others, but I dont think any on the forum are at the "centre" of truths and some like you, SS and I, are far from it. I just think that there was a lot going on that "we" may never get to know about but to say all that went wrong could be blamed on one days event and all due to the fault of the promoters and it "they" had listened to you 2 weeks before the Peter Craven meeting then all would have been ok is, IMO, rubbish.
  3. When I was reading this my thoughts continually went to "thats what the 2016 promoters were doing" ie Gordon and Morton. They were passionate about the venture - thay had worked for years to break away from the dog track, with passion. There were faults with the stadium that were a direct result of the council/contractors action or lack of it. We still dont know, probably never will, the detail of any financial handling that may have added to the problem. They did assemble a team that topped the league table (but robbed of the important play off win). But maybe the problem was your last point.....were/are Gordon and Morton buddies of Chapman. I do remember on that fateful Saturday night back in March when the Peter Craven meeting was cancelled (which we are led to believe was a faulty track - council/contractor problem), it was either that night or the next day that a quote from Chapman was posted on the forum thread that blasted the management of BV.... I remember reading it and thinking he opening his mouth before facts are known (which is never good). It just seemed to me very in appropriate but at the same time....is there a dislike of BV success (ie getting a brand new stadium built from council funds) and was there some joy at its failure on the first meeting.
  4. How has the OP title "2017 Admission Prices" come to be "Touching Tapes" - its amazing how threads go off track.
  5. Cant agree with you Stars, to me the rolling and messing about at starts was and still is unfair IMO. Championships were/are at stake, riders earnings too. I am glad they trying to handle things better now. I do feel sorry for those riders who have anticipated the start "just right", how they are brought back for doing a very good start, but things are so fine it is likely a ref will get it wrong. Shame really. Get rid of tapes and rely on a beam linked to a green light - riders have a choice what to watch then.
  6. Be realistic, BV cannot afford Zagar at this moment in time.
  7. Reading the reports, it seems tyre choice was critical for the final, the American, Brad Baker, made the wrong choice, Elias managed at the last minute to get the tyre supplier to open his truck and put on a new tyre, and Marquez....well he is good but humble enough to say he was playing catch up this year on Baker and of course Marquez has a good pit crew backing him up.
  8. Fundin won 3 of his world championships in the 1960's - cant leave him off that list
  9. "More details to follow over the weekend." ..... all should become clear soon.
  10. But no one was putting forward the money to fulfill your wishes. It was forthcoming in Manchester, who would say no to an offer like that.
  11. I saw more then a few of the tussles between Craven and Fundin at Belle Vue, particularly the Golden Helmet challenges. Absolutely top notch fantastic racing. Ranks as the best racing i have seen, so close racing, showing due respect for each other, no dangerous moves, just racing.
  12. Now he is under 21 WC, what financial reward is Max fricke going to ask for.?? I like Zagar as a rider, just wish he was more consistent with best form, but if as reported he is getting £4k - £5k per meeting, thats a lot of money - does an increase in crowd justify his cost, plus what Fricke may ask for.?? Manchester City Council and BSPA were very involved with the naming of the stadium NSS. and regenative I think is a terminology Man City Council put to the whole of that area, including Etihad (which was built primarily for the Commonwealth games a few years ago, and the National Velodrome. Decisions not taken by BV.
  13. err.... have you not seen the video of the race where he crashed? Pardubice, a big track, 6 riders in the final doing I think it was 6 laps for the Golden Helmet. On lap 1 he was last, by turn 3/4 on the last lap he was in touch with Emil, the leader and winner. And when I say "he was in touch", that was the cause of the crash. He was well in touch with the leader and who knows could have sneaked a win. He was coming back to form well and truly. So, no, I cant agree with you when you put him 15th. Though he may not win the WC next year I would expect him to be anywhere between 5th and 9th.
  14. Make sure thats after the meeting so while you recovering from your injuries you can recollect memories of the meeting.
  15. Some are critical at Troy Batchelor being mentioned as a team member. It was'nt too long ago when Troy was in the GP's he almost did a "wipe out", that is score the max 21 in a GP. If he had it in him then to do that, why is he not doing the same today??? I put it down to the accident of Darcy Ward, that is bound to affect anyone close to Darcy, look how it affected Chris Holder. Its as if it has hit Batchelor harder then Holder, or in a different way. Someday (hopefully soon) Troy will "get over it", and if not either hang about earning a living at a lower level then he is used to, or pack the sport in. I hope he comes out of it soon and for the better. Troy being i the BV team could become a big plus point for the team.
  16. Thats about 5 miles from where I live. Didnt realise it was so bad.
  17. In reply to BurntFaceMan, would you agree that you can reduce the quality of individual riders, but end up with the quality of racing improving. Sure, most people would like to see big names, but they come at a cost and at this time British speedway cannot afford the cost. I look forward to how the new proposals pan out, if they improve quality of racing overall then it would produce excitement and attract, hopefully, a bigger crowd maybe with a fresher younger audience if promoted well.. As a suggestion, it would be nice to see the worlds best come to the uk to compete in individual meetings, say 4 times during the summer months riding at a track in the North, East, West, South say Glasgow, Belle Vue, Kings Lynn, Poole. That should get crowds in, as many top guys as possible, get 10 and 6 top riders from new Premeirship (these could change track to track to generate "local" interest). I am sure some speedway fans would do a "tour" to take in all 4 meetings.
  18. Any news about Fridays meeting at the BV stadium????
  19. Well, I never shook hands with Ove, but I got an email from him which made my day. May be he could have added to 5 world titles but for one year when he was in dispute with the Swedish speedway authorities and couldnt ride in the qualifiers - 1966. Nicknamed "Mr Perpetual Motion" - not sure that was because for 10 years running he finished in the top 3 of the world championship (1956-65) or also due to other fantastic achievements, but a very apt title to be awarded..
  20. Glad to hear things are moving forward, and the team sounds like it wont simply be leftovers after all the others have had their pickings.
  21. In the youtube video I linked to early on in this thread, it shows the 4 Collins brothers that formed 25% of a British Final one year - thats not a bad record in itself.
  22. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Gustix. I well remember Sandor Levai a Belle Vue, and also Peter Vandenberg.
  23. missing your sense of humour today arthur. I thought it was pretty good. Apart from that, lot more worse sarcastic remarks on here made about others then that.
