Really good meeting on Saturday - don't know how many tracks Latvia has, but that one is a cracker. After Emils first ride I though he was out of contention, but he got the points to lead the championship. Where Nicki is going I don't know. At this rate he could loose sponsorship and his living in Monte Carlo curtailed.

Has Hampel done any competitive meetings yet?? Although I suppose he is entitled to go back in the GPs when he is fir to ride, I would hate to see him come back if he is going to be half lap behind. And lets face it, his comeback is going to ave to be spectacular if he is to qualify for next ear.... unless he gets another wild card. Just a shame he had such a bad accident that he didnt cause or be involved in the thick of the action.

More then likely loose viewers if foul language was flying around. Even Tai cleaned up his vocabulary when being interviewed after the world cup. See - it can be done.

I'm all for giving recognised speedway nations a go at the final, but with the system as it is where the host nation go straight to the final I wouldnt like to see it go to Latvia, Croatia, Slovakia, Italy or even Czech and Germany. I would say its Sweden next, then Poland, Denmark and then uk again.

I appreciate gating is more then just reaction time, but reaction time is important. I remember many years ago (actually 52 years ago) there was a slot machine that tested reactions. Drop a penny *that's an old penny) in a slot, it would be held there then drop. You had to press a button to stop it dropping all the way to the bottom. If the penny dropped all the way you lost it, if you stopped it you got a free go. Machine always won as there was no way the machine gave the penny back to you, just a free go. I suppose a penny in todays money might be 10p. Point of it all was.... it was a reaction test, how fast was your reaction to stop the penny dropping. That day 52 years ago I beat the machine a good few times. The machine was on a stopping point (some café) on the way from Manchester to London by coach. The purpose of the journey... I was a member of Belle Vue Gladiators going to Raines Park cycle speedway track for the National Junior Team Championship (which we lost by 2 points) followed by the National Junior Individual Championship.... which I won with 4 straight wins from the gate (reaction time) and a third in last heat when I only needed a third. If Robert Lambert could get hold of such a machine and preen his reaction time I am sure that would help him gate better.

Has someone moved Europe to the other side of the world? Last time I looked on Google Earth europe was still about 30 miles away.

Watched a reply last night and I thought Doyle was hard on Pawlicki but Pawlicki I think went down on his own accord to get a reply - which is what happened. Again, by looking at the meeting a second time, Lambert, IMO, actually did very well. He wasnt too much off the pace, and who knows what confidence factor he will get by doing well in a meeting such as that.

and if Tai had stood down to let a youngster have a chance.... I wonder if you would have said the same? Tai not riding in this years British Championship to give others a chance caused more then a bit of argy bargy on here.

Fridays meeting has been referred to as favouring the "rocket ships", referring to engine tuning. Track record broke a few times and ended 2 seconds lower then when Fridays meeting started. Last nights meeting someone said times were a lot slower, but the racing in the 20 heat heat final was fantastic. That just proves you dont need to spend thousands of pounds with engine tuners to get exciting racing. I doubt the lesson will be learned that close exciting racing can be had without spending the money. I would like to see a return to the bikes of the 70's, 4 valve uprights that were more rideable.

Re Robert Lambert. The Polish team (apart from KK) were full of youngsters. If you include Janowski, all of them have been under 21 world champions. Zmarzlic was on the podium in a GP as a wild card at the age of 18/19. Robert is 18 and I think does amazingly well. Perhaps Tai is right when he criticizes British speedway for not bring along its young riders. He put a 5 year plan to the Brit speedway authorities some time ago....what have they done??? Could be why Tai doesnt seem to keen to ride in the British Fianal... why should he put money into the pockets of British speedway when they dont re-invest it for the future. Robert will succeed - why - because he already has a foot in European speedway, and thats what he and other youngsters need - quality competition. It would be easy just to ride at top level in UK and earn some easy money, but you got to mix where the best ride to get the experience to beat them.

Re Kurtz, not so much dropped but put back into reserve where he was last night, again no chance of a ride unless a rider is deemed to be injured or cannot carry on - so effectively dropped.

So whats the track record now? and who holds it? Good post Ouch! ....... I hope the correct people read it and learn from it. After hearing what BV track has been like, that was poor do's last night. I don't want tonight to be the same, Or maybe it was like it was last night, change it for tonight so Aussie don't have a head start on all the others. Some light drizzle here, but I am 30 miles west of Manchester but the wind blows that way.

Did you try them all Steve.??? and £10 for a program.... did the program cover tonights racing as well. £10 for a prog is moe then a bit steep.

All we need is tonight Tai withdraws from the meeting to "let youngsters" have a chance and Chris Harris rides in his place.

Got to add my disappointment about the racing being not at its best. Good to Emil again but a bit disappointed in his performance to be honest. The stadium really looks good, but the same grumble as others who were in the East stand - no sound system there worth mentioning of and the big screen was too far away to be able to read what was going on. Great viewing from East stand though. Tonight I took a friend with me as the wife wasnt feeling her best, tomorrow she says she going but that will cause a problem, as I am sure she will want something to eat but she wont like the choice - its either this burger bar or that burger bar. Not allowed to take own food in, yet there are many people whose digestive system will not allow then to eat burgers or chips etc. And the "missing Greg", disappointed and annoyed at the same time. Sorry, but he let the fans down badly, very badly and I think a lot of fans will remember this night, I certainly will. I dont do social media stuff but it would be interested on whats be said there.

He rode last year when they got to the same playoff. No bother then.
