Belle Vue National Stadium
OveFundinFan replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Banging your head against a brick wall, Aces51, the last post proves that. Seems some cant accept that MCC/ISG were doing things there way. Page 2 of that "leaked" report, para 2, implies that after designing the shape of the track and laying down its specification DG/CM were "passengers" to what happened. No doubt they were straining at the leash to be involved but were "restrained". So many clever clogs on here saying "I would have done this", "I would have done that" - but none of them were involved with the actual goings. In that 6 page leak on page 3 , last paragraph it refers to the loss asseor that DG?CM had involved, this was April 11th and they said that"do not underestimate the damage has done to your business, it has been a catastrophe that will take a long time for your business to recover from". Thats in reference to the £650,000 that the cancellation of the opening night and following matches, including the good Friday meet with Wolves, bank holiday meetings always being a good taking. -

You beat me to it Aces51, exactly the same question I was going to ask, so come on HA, what would you have done in the situation you were told you could have no input? -
I thought BV topped the league in 2016, but failed to win the championship because their opponents drafted in a rider who had not ridden for them in the Uk up to that point. To me that is pretty good going from BV.
-
Some good points there from SCB and mikebv Perhaps BV should try it at their first meeting this year.

Are you suggesting that DG was behind all the rubbish put into the corner 3-4 build including nappies and a tarmac play pitch left intact.???? Perhaps he was so cheesed off by the forces working against him. Most people can only stand so much then cave in to the pressures. -

IMO it is clear that DG/CM did know there was a problem, I have recognised that from early on. What they didnt know was the extent of the problem until ,as you say, the excavations had happened and the real issues uncovered - very serious issues. IMO initially DG/CM thought the problem was minor and in time the shale would bind, just like the rest of the track, and not be a problem. It was only when drill hole excavation took place then MCC/ISG/DG-CM could really see what was causing severe problems, then the whole 3-4 were excavated, relaid in accord with specification, as ISG should have done in the first place, that the track became what it is today. -
Well thats your opinion of course, and on the forum you can air it...... however, if there was a thumbs down button I would have pressed it for what you just said, and thats my opinion.

If warranted, I hope they do, and I too hope they win. If there has been anything going on with promotors/BSPA I hope they get what they deserve.

Page 2, para 3 of that review shows that on the WEEKS leading up to the 19th PCMem meeting they were having problems with turns 3-4 in getting the shale to bind together, while the rest of the track was in perfect condition. Then in the week leading up to the meeting the weather improved, still cold but dry, and the track started to improve. Then it says the track was inspected twice by 2 inspectors from SCB and passed on Friday 18th. This was the national Speedway Stadium, with an investment of £6mill pound by Man City Council - when has a council last invested so much into speedway? No wonder BV-NSS was the talking point, probably around the country...... speedway having such a large injection of money from a council, and the work DG/CM had done to get a track designed to give top class, world class, racing. Any rumours at that time before the postponed meeting on March 19th would not detail WHAT was wrong with the track. As that report points out it took a few test drills before the extent of the problem was realised, resulting in the whole of bends 3-4 being dug up. Unbelievable to hear what was found, I am sure it shook DG/CM and probably Man City Council officials. ISG have a lot to answer for.

What part do you deem to be UNTRUE ???

Thats not a report - started off maybe as DG diary jottings (albeit a very large diary), but then turns as if written by a third party. Never the less, these are thoughts from some person(s) who was heavily involved in what the situation was seen to be. Well, I felt sorry for DG/CM before, I feel even more sorrier now. Of course, its only one side of the story............. "looking forward" to seeing the other side(s) from MCC, ISG, BSPA and SCB.... not holding my breath, but anyone holding back would be saying, IMO, they have something to hide. Some serious questions in there put to BSPA and SCB which, again IMO, questions them being fit to be in charge of British speedway if the accusations are true. Answers needed. I truly believe the future of British speedway is at stake here... I dont mean British speedway will collapse "tomorrow", but it could be the final blow that British speedway will not recover from. -
So does that mean Richie Worral has not got a team ride in the Premier league 2017....... if so, there has to be something seriously wrong with the system. He's British, and therefore he should be getting a place before any foreign rider

Any help to anyone? http://www.speedwaychampions.com/br-match-race-champs.php

The 2 valve Jawa, and even the JAP engine before it, went very well at Hyde Road as can be testified by the brill races between Craven, Fundin, Knutsson, Briggs, Moore and many many others.
-
I would be happy to see speedway going back to 2 valve engines, the racing was top class in those years and if it makes speedway cheaper for riders and fans....its the way to go. And while I am at it..... make the bikes upright as well, just something about an engine upright in a speedway frame that makes it look good.

I think so FF. However, the seats/scaffolding may have remained in place some time after the SWC if it was convenient to the hire company. BV would not of used them in that time, if they had 1) they would be liable for hire fee 2) they would have to keep the area clean (at their cost).

This thread now reminds me of the opening words to "Windmills of Your Mind" by Noel Harrison - Like a circle in a spiral, Like a wheel within a wheel, Never ending or beginning On an ever-spinning reel.

It seems to me, Orion, that when/if all the facts are known you still not going to believe the reality. To suggest that practice prior to the meeting day should should have place in the evening is beyond normality. I dont know the rules about running even practice races at that time of day (evening) as to whether they are allowed by the councils permit of use. There had been a practice couple days before and all seemed ok. The actual problem wasnt known ie that the MCC contractors had rushed out of the stadium and not completed bends 3-4 to the specification - and BV speedway didnt know (if they had I am sure they would have got the contractors to sort. I can see why BV failed to pay the rent - the property they were renting was not completed to a satisfactory standard (bend 3-4, and back straight stand/loos), and more then that because the property was not fit for purpose (in its entirety) it cost DG/CM money and hassle trying to run the business. I am of the opinion that there is something behind all this that I do hope comes out. The fact that Buster let fly with words on the Saturday night was not good, those riders have raced on worse tracks before AND since that night, the accusation some tracks seem not to have promoted the British Final by selling tickets brings up queries in my head. So much we dont know, that I truly do get to know then this can be put to bed and we can all move on and enjoy speedway at the UK's premier permanent track.

You tell him Phil.... I tried to do it subtly yesterday but he didnt listen.

Uncertainty Over Teams And Sky Tv
OveFundinFan replied to Nobblytriers's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It would be sad if TV coverage of the Premier league was to cease this year, but I have concerns at the end of 2018 whether the speedway GP's will be on TV, currently BT. I think MotoGP is safe because of its support, but speedway continuing could be a bit iffy. -
Speedway And The National Press

Post up links here to all the relevant newspapers and you may get some buttons pressed from forum members - other then that we are a lazy lot (unless anyone wants to prove me wrong) -
Sounds logical to promote the major national and international meetings held in the UK, no matter which track. To quote a famous phrase - we're all in this together. Nah, dont start that, every one will want to jump on the bandwagon
