  1. BV would be ok for a GP, half the crowd would be Polish and the other half rest of the world of speedway. Many would have to watch on TV, obviously not the same atmosphere, the WC Final last year was really good, but with TV you get pit shots, replays etc. I would be happy with BV as a second GP, could be called the European GP or the Brexit GP
  2. Could be some Monster sponsorship up for grabs next year by the looks of it.
  3. Seems a reasonable suggestion, and worthy of serious consideration, but my only but would be...... Any proposal may not throw into the ring the best riders, my thought with this idea is that having a final qualifier right at the beginning of the season may mean some riders are not at their best due to lack of rides. I know all are "in the same boat" but some can adapt to the pace quicker then others.
  4. Since the Warsaw fiaso 2015, indoor arena tracks have improved immensely - well done those guys. How about a team of track specialists (not necessarily the same ones that do indoor tracks) be appointed to prepare outdoor speedway tracks for the GP's? They could work along with "local" track staff initially to gain the knowledge of THAT particular track and work from there. Might tak a couple or three years to get it right, but hopefully then we would have race tracks every GP
  5. Im sure there are a few on this forum who put themselves into that bracket. Its one thing to talk he talk, but another to walk the walk. Its finding a stadium big enough for the track. If its indoor stadium you talking about, big enough are difficult to find. Cardiff holds in excess of 50,000 and so does Warsaw. there is generally a relation between crowd capacity and potential track size. For example, Manchester Arena is claimed to be the 2nd largest in Europe, yet it only holds 21,000 max. I been there many times and you would not get a decent sized speedway track in that arena (decent size=Cardiff, Warsaw) Go for a football stadium and you battling with weather wherever you go, so you may as well make a speedway track a racing track and have it their. Also many football stadiums would not contain a speedway track, look at Horsens (Danish GP), one end of it has to be extended outside of the normal stadium dimensions, its not everywhere you can do that. With some more money (not likely) Belle Vue could be covered like Torun such that the track is covered but not the whole stadium area.
  6. Top eight have split themselves from the rest, Zmarzlik the only one likely to join them. Will now take some spectacular recovery for the likes of Hancock and Holder to catch up. Linback having one of his dreadful years. The racing wasnt top class, but certainly not dreadful. Not the riders fault, more the track. And as I remember that track seems similar to Prague - oh dear. Hopefully Prague will be prepared for RACING
  7. Well done to Adam Ellis and Josh Bates who wont the first semi. What will that do for their confidence! Poor dos Denmark and Germany who only fielded one rider each
  8. Whats the weather like in Latvia today - anyone know?????
  9. With the 2017 GP field being so strong there is not going to be an "easy" race, but look what the draw for the Latvian GP this weekend has thrown up for heat 20 http://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/5715/top-three-in-daugavpils-heat The current top 3 plus Holder but there again, how does heat 6 take your fancy - Vaculik, Zmarzlik, Woffinden, Hancock It can only be a fantastic meeting, hope the weather doesn't spoil it.
  10. see post #1212 of this link http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=79314&page=81
  11. There is an oldie Romanian in that line up - born 1967 - Marian Gheorghe. Doesn't look it though.!
  12. I didn't notice what you did last Saturday, but in Krsko when Freddie came 2nd I did notice the complete silence then, didn't here anything about the Gerhard engine. You would think it would be an exciting occasion to have a new engine on the scene that is capable of winning.
  13. but presumably his best engines will already be on there way.
  14. I would imagine Freddie is like a development rider. If there are new bits to being developed then Freddie would be the guy to get the first. Some might say that's not fair but that's how it goes. Buy a new car today and a new upgraded model comes out next week then tough, that's life. Things got to move forward and the same with a race engine. No doubt GM and tuners will be working madly to get extra power from their engine/tweaks - that's life.
  15. Buying a GTR cause of Freddies success is one thing, but you still got to be capable of making it a winning machine, and that is due to set up. Some riders can do that better then others, but thats the secret of success - set up.
  16. Shame about Zagar. He will probably be on the podium this year, may even win one, but he is not consistent enough to be WC or even in top three.
  17. Those guys were so fast last night, you needed to be brave and bold to get the points that matter. Re Pederson/Zagar. You cant block someone into the fence then simply dive for the inside position. NP fault - wrong man excluded IMO. Re Lindback/Pederson - saw nothing wrong with Lindback move.
  18. Good meeting, ran smoothly, and good racing. As the results of two meetings so far - 6 of last years GP riders wont be in next year. Mmm! I hope Freddie keeps up his form and the bubble dont burst too soon. Maybe it wont....that would be good for Gerhard engine sales.
  19. Last time Cook was wild card at Cardiff he got 7 which is pretty good when not used to riding at that level and pressure to deal with. This year he is riding a lot better - I hope he gets the wild card. But it has to be the 2017 British Champion.
  20. Actually Krsko looks a nice setting, a good grandstand area, and plenty of banking, as in Sweden, for spectators to stand. The Slovenian GP should have been a showpiece for speedway on at least 2 counts 1) the first GP of the 2017 season, what a showpiece that should be. The riders were up for it and it could.should have been a cracking meeting. Lost opportunity no 1 2) a showpiece for Slovenian speedway as well. I am supposing that it was shown on Slovenian TV, what should have been great TV viewing to encourage the people and the country to support speedway, turned into a damp squid. Lost opportunity no 2. Ah well, lessons will have been learned for next year.....or will they.
  21. Nicky was flying last year at the time of his accident - just won the Euro championship, next day was at Pardubice in the Golden Helmet meeting, 6 riders in the final, Nicky was last on the first lap, on the last bend (of 6 laps) he was challenging Emil for first and I think would have got him but clipped Emils back wheel. Has he has any meetings this year? From what I read last night was TW first meeting of the year and look what he did (or not do).
