It was 2014 that Batchelor scored the 20 points i the Danish GP, DW accident was in 2015.... so not "several seasons"
-
maybe that was his breakthrough, but then there was the DW crash which must have affected him badly as it did Holder and no doubt others to a lesser/greater degree. Lets hope he is through the bad patch.

Save Speedway From "death By Eu"
OveFundinFan replied to 4thbender's topic in National League Speedway
Same rules will apply to other Eu countries as well ie POLAND, GERMANY, SWEDEN, DENMARK, SLOVENIA, CZECH, SLOVAKIA, ITALY Will MotoGP racing be hit as well ie SPAIN It will never happen - do you think all the sports affected, that gross millions for countries, will just cease to be. Complete and utter EU nonsense. Cant believe we still in the EU, should have got out years ago. -
Love it up there.

The coast around Berwick, Lindisfarne etc is really good - wild. If you like castle there is Bamburgh Castle - used in more then a few films, its still standing, open to the public and lived in. About 10 miles south west of Bamburgh is Chillingham castle, again lived in, open to the public. We first went to Chillingham castle about 35 years ago and it was just being revitalised, then about 10 years ago we visited again and it looked brilliant but still being worked on, by now it should be back to how it was originally. If you want a trip arond the farne islands, go to Seahouses/North Sunderland and boats sail from there. Seahouses is nice and quiet place. Probably have a museum in Coldstream (about 8 miles south west of Berwick), probably at Darlington a railway museum, on the way to Scunthorpe you pass by Harrogate, nice spa town with Aunt Bessies tea Room (but expensive). You will be skirting the north Yorks moors as well, Whitby is nice if you can get to it AND of course that is Heartbeat country - Goathland is the village used in the tv series - interesting visit. There is loads to do/see

2018 Grand Prix Venues
OveFundinFan replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Belle Vue as a track - I will agree. BV as a stadium - limited capacity, less then 10,000 at a max - the potential crowd is 4 times that. And besides - would UK get a 2nd GP? -
Which night of the World Cup at BV did you attend.??????????? Logic tells me it was not the Saturday night final - the racing that night was superb. The Friday night wasnt so good, shame that as we didnt see the best from Emil and others. Probably only Doyle that like it that night.

The 4 Hours Speedway Meeting....
OveFundinFan replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Well then, holder such meetings at a time of year when weather is going to be more conducive to watching a 4 hour open air event. Cant think of a time in the past when I was at BV for 4 hours. 4 hours - ridiculous. And as for food, if the catering is provided by the stadium - sack the staff if food is not up to a standard. If its Joe Bloggs Burger Van - get shut and allow another to take its place. Got to keep the customer happy or they dont turn up again - plain business sense. -
Well they made a start on Friday night by withdrawing their services............ but you still trying to defend the track.

OveFundinFan replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Seeing is believing, and when you see the racing you will believe it IS the best speedway track in the country. Enjoy, and I hope you get your tickets sorted. -

OveFundinFan replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I presume the tickets were numbered. Did you take photocopies before you sent the tickets. Last night was a practice night at BV with free admission to viewing, and someone was at the office kiosk sorting out PC Mem ticket exchange/refunds, so they are doing something about it. -
Cycle Speedway Activity
OveFundinFan replied to a topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
When I was doing cycle speedway in the mid/late 60's it was more like those black/white photos. I do envy thos in the modern era, smart tracks, full safety equipment etc. Thanks for the link gustix. -

So I can be clear, is the south side opposite the main stand/start.......... if so........there was covered terracing there in 2016........ which I understand was removed at the end of 2016, along with temporary toilets........... and now, if I am right, in 2017 the ManCity Council are reinstating a stand and toilets which are temporary until next year 2018. I just got to be wrong with my thinking, but councils do "funny" things at times. -
to be honest, I dont know how sponsorship deals are set up, I never got offered sponsorship when I was grass track racing - and if you saw me ride you would understand why But could be a promoter approaches local business, the business responds positively, and asks for suggestions of who to sponsor..... chance for a promoter to "push" someone name forward. As long as the sponsor perceives he is getting value for his money maybe they just go along with it. Of course some sponsors are speedway "savvy" and want to sponsor a certain name.
-
Probably because promoters "push" potential sponsors in the direction the promoter wants. If a promoter has an investment of any sort in a particular rider then they will want to promote that rider. I suggest a sponsor, in the main, is not to bothered whether a rider is from Britain or another country as long as his product gets promoted well..

Should have been in place last year, even not at the start of the season. -
Grand Prix Challenge 2017
OveFundinFan replied to STEPHEN 333's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Perhaps those figures show where international matches for Team GB should lie. Would be good a 4 way international between GB, Germany, Italy, Czech (or substitute any of the other teams). 4 teams, 5 man teams, 4 countries. -
I dont even know when Kevlars become the "norm". Was it rule change, or was it some fashion that did the change.?? Are they lighter, stronger, more protective then leathers?? I can remember the days of all black (mostly, the odd blue or red), and was happy to see coloured leathers come into "fashion" - great stuff.

2 spots, perhaps thats what the powers that be think of British speedway. -
Anything to do with kodi ????? Been on Sportnation website and it doesnt look straight forward.

Not heard that before, SS. Since I bought the 2 cars me and the wife have, both second hand, my garage has used semi-synthetic. They seem to be going ok.

Additives like Redex, for petrol or diesel, claim to clean the injector tips thus gaining an efficient flow of fuel leading to extra mpg. Also can reduce black smoke from diesel engines particularly if used on shorter runs.
