  1. Looking at the International fixtures that matter I note that Poland have 3 GP's, The GP Challenge Final, a World Cup round, 2 rounds of the European Championship and a round of the World Pairs. Contrast that with Britain where we have a World Cup round and the Cardiff GP, long touted as Speedway's "Flagship" event but soon to lose that mantle to Warsaw I fear. For 70 years Britain was the place every speedway rider had to be if he wanted to reach the top. Britain was the home of the World Championship and home to all the major meetings that really mattered. Now, not only do riders need to ride in Britain if they want to reach the top, World Champions often decline to ride in Britain at all preferring Poland, Sweden and Denmark. From being the "Head" of the Speedway family for so long, we are now truly the poor relations.
  2. International Pairs with the top nations and the best 2 riders from each nation can provide great speedway. How can GB be excluded from a competition featuring Hancock, Sayfutdinov, Pedersen, Iversen, Hampel etc.?. Beats me!.
  3. Just to set the matter straight, I did read the OP and was well aware of the original argument. However, this thread like many others had veered off course and I was adding my two-pennoth. I'm sorry if somebody on here thinks I am poor value and bring little to the forum, though such comments are a tad patroniising. Without wishing to blow my own trumpet, my like to post ratio suggests quite a few members find my input, if not valuable, then at least worthwhile. Still, we all have our own opinions and all are valid. By the way...I did see Ashby ride many times and he was very good. etc.
  4. The OP was "Why Bomber" My question is "Why not Bomber and if not Bomber, who?".
  5. F1, Moto GP, Touring Cars, Superbikes and all and every winter sport...but especially Downhill skiing, Snow Board, Ski Jumping, Speed Skating, Bob, Luge and Skeleton.
  6. I only got to see the 1st. 10 heats which was a shame. Presentation was slick with minimal delays between races, though the racing was not overly exciting. I probably missed the best of the meeting to be honest. From what I did see I was impressed with Artem and Huckenbeck was a surprise, as was Smolinski for the opposite reason.
  7. Looks like a Danish win to me. Thankfully I can now watch it...Roll on 7 p.m..
  8. No doubt I am preaching to the converted, but once in a while ebay comes up trumps. I have just received the 2014 series 6-disc set, brand new sealed unopened for which I paid £2.23 inc. postage. The same set is over £16.00 on Amazon. Made my day.
  9. Chris is British, has won a GP and is in this year's series on merit...so let's get behind him.
  10. Speedway Utopia is every heat being raced wheel to wheel, the winner winning by a tyre width and "your" team winning by 2 points having seen the meeting seesaw between both sides, with never more than 2 points separating both teams, at times in the 60's/70's I was watching speedway 2/3 times a week and rarely if ever got Utopia. It never stopped me loving my speedway though.
  11. Looking at the admission prices for tracks around the Country, I would say £17 for 2 meetings is pretty good value. You have some good riders competing in the PL meeting, and a chance for the NL lads to show what they can do in front of a (hopefully) decent crowd. Easter Monday, good weather and plenty of races...who could ask for more for their £17?.
  12. What's this?...Free Old Speckled Hen!. Lead me to it.
  13. I'm not totally sure what I did but using Firefox and pressing lots of keys, I have got it working. Best Pairs on Saturday and Warsaw GP the following Saturday...and I can now watch. Yes!!!...I have Sky Go and Eurosport up and running at last. Looking forward to Saturday
  14. Speedway Researcher has the complete scorecard so it seems likely the 8+1 and 2+2 is correct.
  15. I know I am an outsider looking in, but to me the PL looks much more enticing than the EL. 'tis a pity PL meetings are not shown on TV as the few EL meetings I managed to see on Sky did not exactly enthrall me. Mind you, I can no longer get Sky Sports so it's academic really.
  16. Think Ronnie Greene, Charles Ochiltree, Mike Parker etc....they all knew how to present speedway.
  17. Is there anyone far cleverer than me who can do a similar job for West Ham?.
  18. According to Speedway Researcher...Pullen 8+1, Bishop 2+2. Pullen...3 second places + 2 thirds, Bishop 2 third places.
  19. Not that I saw it (grrr.) but Hampel seemed to be in good form. What was up with Emil and Grigory?...their scores were lower than I expected. I'm sure Woffinden and Harris would have put on a good show, and I still think Wells should have been there instead of Manzares. Hopefully some of the meeting will turn up on youtube.
  20. I had been looking forward to this all week. I have to watch Eurosport on my pc via a Sky go link to my Son's Sky account. Sky go needs me to run a programme called Silverlight to enable me to view. All my browsing is done via Chrome and Chrome no longer supports Silverlight. I switched to Internet Explorer but I could not get a connection. In desperation I installed Firefox and reinstalled Silverlight. Both installed correctly but Silverlight would not run, so Sky go would not play. So, I missed the meeting and unless my Son can rectify the problem, no speedway for me. Aaaargh!!!!
