  1. People don't understand Fractional-reserve banking but the banks seem to be coping just fine despite this TBH, a lot of people fail to grasp averages, the number of people who seem to think heat 15 doesn't count for a riders average is phenomenal. Has that ever been the case?
  2. Thats probably one of the dodgy things the UKV&I looked into and investigated.
  3. So Joonas Kylamkorpi a second string or a heatleader? What about Bridger? Bech, Lawson, King, Woodward, Fisher, Hansen, Milik, Pawlikci etc? They all rode some meetings as heat leader and some as second string? Something needs to be done but it's not as simple as a straight 20% reduction. You'd be better off weighting each heat in the format. Give me a couple of hours and I'm sure I could come up with a fair weighting and new averages for all riders. It's not difficult for a half competent analyst and a database of result.
  4. The beauty of a rolling average is it doesn't matter if it's taken in March, May, August or November - it's 20 meetings. Sheffield are saying they thought it had to be a 4 and 4 average from this season well I suggest they should have read the BSPA wesbite specifically the bit that says, "Upon the expiry of their Certificate of Sponsorship, a rider returning to the UK must have achieved an Elite League CMA of 6.25 or a Premier League CMA of 7.00 in order to be eligible for endorsement. Riders must have achieved these averages, with a minimum of 20 meetings in the previous UK season or have qualified through meeting the National or State Championship criteria in Appendix 1"
  5. TBF, he would have known, or atleast should have known his work permit expired on Tuesday and should have been prepared for it. It's not like his average dropped over night, it's never been over 7.
  6. While I get he doesnt meet the criteria and IMO that means it's totally correct he should not be allowed to ride. Kicking him out like that seems harsh. I thought I was pretty heartless but even I'd give him a month or so to pack up!
  7. I think that was one of the most 50/50 crashes I've ever seen. What probably swung it was Bates reaction. Though if I'd be the referee, after allowing Lawson to wallop into Garrity (who should have thrown himself on the floor - as he'd have got a re-run) I'd have evened it up and excluded the Glasgow rider.
  8. That argument is pants. Even if a rider is ahead he can't barge into another rider. Technically any time a rider rides inside another rider and his back wheel takes out the other guys front wheel he is in front, so using your theory thats a legitimate tactic.
  9. Is it that interesting? I would hope any pairing would on average get a heat advantage in 40% of races. So they only slightly above average.
  10. On the track/level of racing though, I bet on a good day that track can be brilliant - looks really good, the speed riders take into the bend was pretty breath taking - especially Garrity on lap 1 of heat 3
  11. I'm most certainly not saying it was bad - and you're right heat 1 wasn't bad but passing coming out of the 2nd bend? Hardly thrilling stuff - for me the pass is as much in the planning and execution as it is just the actual pass (which is why I don't like NL racing). But I have already mentioned heat 11 and heat 4. I've already said it was enjoyable, I've just laughed at those who think it's somehow better than EL racing. I notice you didn't pick up on the praise I gave of your promotion for sorting out the stadium and packing a crowd in
  12. It just proof that speedway is more than just 15 heats. But it doesn't mean you have to change rules, ban foreigners, let work permit riders in, tweak the TR rule, shoot Matt Ford etc. Just trick people into thinking they're having a good time and weirdly, they will have a good time. It weird, I enjoyed last nights meeting but when I look back, one heat aside the speedway was all a bit meh. Proof if others are having a good time you do to!
  13. Some people are seriously over egging this one. Josh Grajczonek ride aside it was nothing special - the onyl other pass was from the rider the Glasgow fans say doesn't pass, James Sarjeant. As for PL being better. 7 of the 13 riders on show last right are EL riders. All the passing was done by Josh Grajczonek and James Sarjeant - EL riders. Now I'm not knocking last night but some of the "PL is best" posts are silly. There nothing between the two league. The NL is different, it does have more passing but it's fake passing rider riders making mistakes and falling off, as a purist, it doesn't do it for me so much, where as EL and PL, I could watch either as a neutral. What was impressive was the stadium, in about 10 years since I was there and it was a little rough around the edges, a bit run down and frankly, naff. Typical speedway really But what we saw on tele it look clean, tidy and well maintained. It looked far more impressive than any photos we have seen. And the promotion seem to have been rewarded with a huge crowd - and that is what makes meetings. If the guy next to you is excited, you get excited and then the guy next to you gets excited and then the first guy gets more excited because everyone around him is - before you know it theres a buzz just because of the anticipation of what all these people have come to see. And that come across on tele, every time we saw the crowd they looked like they we having a great time.
  14. BWitcher is not the one who brought it up.Someone said there are loads of them here. BWitcher asked who. It's normally quite reasonable when you make a claim to be able to back it up, not make others disprove you. Other wise you end up looking like someone who make ludicrous claims without any justification of substance to them.
  15. Yeah, them new spectators will be gutted they can't get to see the famous Ty Proctor
  16. I thought the same as you when it was discussed on here recently and I'm sure it was agreed it all changed at the same time - about 2001ish.
  17. Heats 15 counts, always has done. I'm not sure why people think it doesn't. It does seem someone has messed up on the current season/rolling average. But weirdly, the person who told me he had 60 days also said it was a rolling average, so some people did know.
  18. It would seem they were told that he only had to average 7 this season. When he actually had to have a 7 point rolling average. I guess I can see to some extent where they're coming from
  19. The new rule change you're thinking of is previously only a NL rider could replace your number 7. Now you can use a PL guest. But I cant see anything that suggests you can have a guest for a rider riding in Sweden, even if the meeting is re-arranged.
  20. New rule then? As last season when Newcastle had to go to Berwick for a Sky meeting (also re-arranged) they had no facility for Lindgren. Not that it really matters, Im not expecting much from Konopka.
  21. Whats not to get? His visa expired this week. So he needs a new visa. The visa rules state a rider has to have a 7 point PL average. Proctor does NOT have a 7 point PL average.
  22. I know I'm strange, I wouldn't argue it
  23. Ty Prcotors first meeting for Sheffield in 2014 was on May 15th. So he would have had a 12 month visa form then. That visa has obviously expired. Can pay your riders whatever the hell you like! Maybe them for every time they wave as Maud on the 2th bend if you like.
