  1. I agree with that. Its what ultimately killed CL/NL racing for me. Tim Stone charging to watch a team that had 4 riders who between then averaged 6 while the 3 heat leaders only managed just over 6 each. The bottom 4 averaging 1.5 each were only beating each other and a few riders who fell or stopped. When you consider in heats 2, 8 and 14 they were guaranteed 3 points a meeting, to average 6 a meeting was hardly impressive. As it was, 2 of that 4 did actually go on to ride PL for Newport but they only averaged 1.5 and 2 in the PL!!
  2. I wasn't so I agree it's not exactly the same. But what amazes me is speedway riders will moan about wet tracks, grippy tracks etc and we hear how riders health is important. Then we have a rider with a drs note saying he is not fit to riding going out on track with 3 other riders. If I was a rider I'd be a little concerned that the guy next to be was considered unfit by a medical expert.
  3. Depending on the points limit, you might find 1 or 2 EL clubs want two of them - to stop other teams having them and leaving them with poorer riders. Maybe a compromise should have been a return to the old format. the better fast track riders having to ride at 6 leaving the lower reserve to ride at 7 meaning riding against a reserve in all 4 heats so some protection.
  4. When I was no the sick a couple of years ago my employer would not let me back to work until either the note expired or I got a fit note. The official line was due to insurance as Hydred mentions. The solution was for em to work part time flexi-time but I'm not sure that works for a speedway rider
  5. I love how Ward fans like to re-write history. "wasn't drunk", "incident didn't happen", "she asked to go back to the room for a Vodka"
  6. No. Well, I went to Cradley last year.
  7. Isn't Wood at Eastbourne a raw 15 year old who until about 3 months ago had never sat on a speedway bike? If you're good enough then you're old enough and experienced enough. If experience was all that mattered then Greg Hancock would be current World Champ Tony Atkin would be top of the NL averages!
  8. Im probably being a right numpty but how do Coventry for example have a home score of 28? I get you then split it as top 5 8 and reserves 20 but how is this done? How have some teams got negative figures?
  9. What makes people think CVS has any involvement? I thought he sold Redcar years ago to Glyn Taylor who subsequently sold it to Havelock snr. It'd be like asking the Ochiltrees to get involved at Coventry or Jim Lynch at Petrerborough - they all sold the clubs so no longer have any obligations.
  10. All teams are relying on reserves. I bet more often than not the highest scoring reserve has been on the winning team in 2015 than not.
  11. TBF, what do you want them to say? "We have signed a rider, he's a bit less crap than the one he's replacing so it's all good"
  12. The racing at Warsaw was fine. The issue was the tape and frankly, that could happen anywhere.
  13. It doesn't matter who's in front. If you put another rider out of a race you should be excluded.
  14. So it does, I missed the rule straight after the one that says initial declaration.
  15. I seem to remember it's only the "initial declaration" - technically any team could have redeclared after a meeting with 4 7 pointers (can't fit in 5 due tot he points limit)
  16. Agreed. But then both always are, its the way they ride. Sadly, certainly for Harris, that effort doesnt reflect in his points as he just can't gate and annoyingly the one time eh did he messed up the back straight and let Hampel pass him.
  17. Where has it been said Hans is unhappy? He was unhappy in Poland but has sorted that out now (hopefully). So a happier Hans should see him scoring more for Coventry. Why would he want to go to Swindon while he's struggling where he can't be carried by the rest of the team so the fans will get on his back? At Coventry we can cover for him while he sorts himself out and looking at his scores this week he seems to be doing just that. Far greater chance of Swindon getting Darcy (or another Poole rider) in just over a months time. Or Bjarne has said he might come back to the EL - maybe he's the answer?!
  18. So far Bomber has finished 2nd and 10th. If he does that all season as a Bomber fan I'll be happy In fact if his lowest score all season is 6 I think he'll be happy! Sadly, Prague is a track he has always struggled on and 3 would be about what I expect Saturday Desperately hoping he proves me wrong though
  19. Did Neville ever has a short spell in the EL? It's not impossible that at the end of one season he got 5.5 from 6 meetings in the EL in the late 90s.
  20. It probably is, but Danny should still be good for 6 points - I wouldn't be too upset. Coventry did well enough when they had Bomber and King as two of their heat leaders this season.
  21. If your promotion have any sense they'll be on the phone to him asking him to guest - Harris is much better than R/R.
  22. He could replace Garrity at any time. But that would be stupid as then you could not fit Garrity back in and would need to find someone else to replace Ty.
  23. My niece may only be 6 but part of the excitement for her was going to see the "rider who won trophies" when we went to Coventry vs BV. She got to see Matej Zagar and Chris Harris who had finished 1st and 2nd in that Saturdays GP - she thought it was brilliant she could watch the riders she had seen on the tele.
