Coventry run 10 heats in a little over 45 minutes Friday (before deciding it had got to wet) - it was a little rushed and not ideal but it did show you could run a meeting could be run a lot quicker and most of the delays are not necessary. an hour and a half should be promoters aim, maybe 10-15 minutes more but never anything longer than an hour and 3/4.

Poole Pirates Vs Belle Vue Aces 29/4/15
SCB replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He'd have had to have been taken out of his 2nd or 3rd ride. Not actually his "4th ride". -
OK then, I get that Len is needed as the experienced promoter for a year but surely that doesn't mean he has to be the track man? Why not just let him "promote" (ahem!!!) and leave someone else to team manage and prepare the track.

Yet PK was beating heat leaders when he met them more often than not, as did Holder last night. in makes a difference to fringe heat leaders/second strings but not what should be top heat leaders, like Holder and PK!

I'd say it was drizzle - couldn't have been that bad as we stayed on bend 1 and 2 where as in the past its got so bad we had watched heats from the back straight to avoid the rain. I'm of the opinion that if you start a meeting when it's drizzling, the forecast is for rain and the sky doesn't have any breaks in the cloud that you have an obligation to carry on to the end unless it gets any worse. Isn't it funny that meeting can get to heat 10 before getting called off, when was the last time a meeting got to heat 11 and was called off? Always heat 10 as if thats all they care about,it's all that matters, because at that point they don't have to refund any money! I've seen MANY meeting over the years run in worse conditions. Including 2 or 3 heats of last years play-off final that our management DIDNT want calling off. The last 3 meetings I have been to have been this one, the BV meeting a few weeks back and the play-off final that also got rained off.

Speedway World Cup Team Gb Squad
SCB replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Around Lynn I'd use Garrity and Newman ahead of him! He's truly terrible there! Frankly, I'm amazed Auty even gets mentioned on these threads, he's the new Leigh Lanham, people seem to think they're young and/or better than they are! -
Apparently he's riding at #3 for you guys

Wouldn't use Hoawarth yet. Too prone to having terrible meetings. And can't get around Kings Lynn. -
Nick Morris, Batch, Kildemand or PK. There really isn't anyone else available. Zagar doesn't guest and hates Leciester, Schlein won't guest for Coventry as I can't imagine either party would ask/agree to it, Davey Watt is crap and the rest are in Denmark for the Danish Championship or the Best Pairs.

Pedersen is not riding in Denmark, he's seeded to the final - Good news for Coventry

Having watch that video I have low expectation levels for any kind of entertainment next weekend. The corners are still too square, anyone with even the tinniest bit of speedway knowledge can surely see that.

Reading this as an outsider is a right hoot. So to Len and Andrew not get on? Why is Len trying to ruin Andrews attempts at continuing the running of Rye House? Why can't the new owner just sack Len Silver?

2015 Speedway Gp Challange
SCB replied to OveFundinFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Oi, we currently have two riders capable of finishing on the podium in a GP, I'm not sure we've ever had that before -
Must have been as you're right, it used to be a 3 pointer.

Birds And The Bees (ok. Bees V Robins)
SCB replied to full-throttle's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well fancy that, the BSPA actually arranging a meeting where there is no clash! Obviously a fluke. -
I like Porky, he fills the gaps well, keeps the crowd well informed but it's afraid to make a twit of himself if theres a gap. I get how some might not like him though.
-
Fair play to Jack Lee, he picks his riding order to suit the away track, good to see a team manager actually earning his wage!
-
I'd have said 55-35 6 weeks ago. But Wolves should be looking for a point really.

Birds And The Bees (ok. Bees V Robins)
SCB replied to full-throttle's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This is a banana skin meeting. Troy can ride the place well, Kildemand should score reasonable well too. Nick Morris is flying and both the second strings, Howarth and Zengi have been Bees in recent seasons. The only Robins weakness is in reserve, Wright will be riding for Somerset, his brother guested this week at Coventry, Worrall is at Edinburgh, Boxall is injured, Wilkinson will be riding for Scunthorpe, Roynon is at Plymouth, Bowen has retired - leaving the very off form Richie Hawkins from the Tier 1 riders. -
10 heats out of 15 is 66%. 2 courses out of 3 is 66% so it's the perfect example. I've only seen you and the promoter disagree too. We paid for 15 heats, they got to heat 10, the heat where magically you can declare a result, then they called it off. You might have been happy only seeing 66% of a meeting but I wasn't - it's happened 2 of the last 3 times I've been to Brandon now. The meeting started with it drizzling and not a single bit of sky without cloud, it was always going to carry on drizzling, so why why start if they couldn't finish?
-
Well, apart from Peter York will still be there. Except those who did go for the speedway only got 10 heats of it! imagine paying for a 3 course meal but not getting your desert! I could just imagine him muttering, "bloody foreigners" as Kim Nilsson won heat 1
