  1. TBF, I'm being pretty extreme when I suggest a NL rider. In reality we have many riders with a PL average of 5.5 or more, making them better than Manzares* who has ridden two rounds this year. *only using him as he is the lowest average British League rider so we have a direct comparison.
  2. Looking at the result of the 125 final, made me wonder, when was the last time there was a race with only 2 families represented as was the case here with the Thompsons and McGurks?
  3. Well the "arm chair experts" pretty much all called that one 3 weeks ago! thinking about officialdom were never going to blame themselves were they? So it has to be the riders!
  4. TBF, as much as I have very little time for One Sport, I have to agree with those who say it makes GB Speedway look shoddy and amateur when we're agreeing to ride and then sending an Aussie! A NL standard Brit would have been much better IMO, even if they did roll around at the back - but lets not forget, Manzares is only a PL 5.5 rider and he did alright, we have plenty of them, are we really saying not one of them could make it? If the BSPA are going to allow the Team GB name to be used they should be taking it serious.
  5. From afar it looks like your ptomotion have messed up. But from my same seat it looks like every time they have been criticized this season they have acted on it - we all make mistakes, it's how we handle them and learn from them that is important. If this turns out to be the worst thing the new Glasgow promotion have done by October they won't have had a bad first season in charge!
  6. Just throw this one out there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Spli73vToJk
  7. I believe that Marvyn had a German license but still a British passport. But Andy actually took out Polish citizenship because each team could only have x amount of foreigners but he still rode in the GPs as a Brit on a British license. edit > Andy must have had a Polish license in 1999 as he was reserve for the Polish final.
  8. Since when did having a poor season mean leaving the EL?! It's not like Lakesides crowds are poor are they? Certainly seemed ok when Coventry were there.
  9. Why would a non-riding reserve who can take up to 5 rides be any worse than a pairs meeting where you have a non-riding reserve who can take rides?! Just let teams declare anyone they like at reserve, if Poland go with Hampel, GB with Tai and Australia with Holder and chose to use that rider in all 5 of the last 5 heats then thats just tactics!
  10. Why? It's good referees justify their actions.
  11. WOW!! Zagar and Nicki throwing everything at each other there, great stuff
  12. Been rumours for weeks he has quit so I'll go with the 5 weeks.
  13. I don't think Tai will ever score a maximum with quite so much ease. He was on fire in that one. And Magic wasn't bad either
  14. What would be great ifs if one of the earlier meeting could be a Team GB vs Australia meeting. It's it after all the National Speedway Stadium and what bigger enemy than the Aussies?!
  15. While I don't get the critisism, the Arena itself is perfectly adequate IMO. I'm missing where the character is One thing about Lakeside is you get a pretty good view where ever you chose to stand, I like that. and in recent years it's not even been the terrible race track it was during Ronnie Russell stint at the club. I used to hate the place but I'd miss it if it went.
  16. Exactly, would solve the issue of rider jumping the start. The transponder could look for a rider moving say an inch or more before the light goes out and if that happens, exclude them. if the rider just anticipates it then well done him!
  17. I'm not sure why the sport still uses tapes. Whats wrong with using lights?
  18. Didnt they do it twice? Switched it around about 2 years after moving in and then switched it back a few years after that?
  19. Missed Ryan Douglas? His replacement Theo Pijper scored 15!
  20. They could win it! As long as they can get a 4th rider who can pick up a few points they stand a chance. I hope they take it serious - if the Brits can't win it I like the Laguytas and Emil so would be happy with the Russians winning it.
  21. Because the GP qualifiers and riding in the SWC are not the same. You ride in the SWC for the country you have a passport for. You ride in the GP qualifier for whoever your have a license for, riders can take out any license they like. In the past Simon Wigg took out a Dutch license I believe but he was still British, Rory Schlein has a British license but he's still an Australian. Robert Lambert can only ride for GB in the SWC, he cannot ride for German. But he can only ride in the GP qualifiers as a German because he hasa German license. It's not like that for Tai at all, he has neither an Australian license to ride in the GPs as one, or an Australian passport to ride in the SWC for them You are wrong and it has NEVER been like that in the past. You're mixing up apples (the World Championship) and pears (the World Cup).
  22. Was saying the same during the meeting to my dad. Tonight track has put a rider in hospital too.Yet Puk and Nicki told us it was fine!
  23. Wrong again. It's nothing at all top do with licences. It's all about your passport. It's not changed recently, Matej Ferjan switched from Slovenian to Hungarian about 6 or 7 years ago.
  24. Incorrect. Riders can switch country. Holta did it and Kylmakorpi is in the Sweden squad having raced for Finland.
