Rumours are Morris is off to Swindon and Ipswich. One must be wrong. Theres no way he'd sign for an EL club who ride on the same night as his PL club.
-
A British racer, a likeable guy too. Surely the kind of rider everyone wants in their team. I'm hoping he's at Coventry in some capacity.

1 double bed, an air bed and 3 sofas plus a bath I'm still trying to work how many more I can fit in and a pricing structure! Lovely views of the stadium too if you step out onto the main road, must be worth at least £50 a night per person!

Speedway Gp In Tatters !
SCB replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think a Saturday evening works. Watch the GP with a few cans and a curry (or the drink and take away of choice) or in the pub (of you happen to have a speedway friendly local) before heading out for the night. Many a good night has started with watching the GP in the pub for me. Sundays would ruin that. -
You could try HERE. If you stay in Century Wharf I can confirm the locals are decent people Only a 15 minute walk from the stadium and just over 5 to the bars/restaurants in the bay. Just don't go stealing my parking space!

If Not Darcy Then Who?
SCB replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
But the wild cards have to go to someone not already signed up to a Polish team with a GP rider leaving limited options. -
If Not Darcy Then Who?

I'd love to see Billy in a GP He certainly wouldn't be moved out of the way by Nicki on the 1st bend Mind you, you can't score bonus points in he GP's so it might confuse Billy(or Ryan) -
There will always been a World Champion. It's not like when Greg, Tomasz, Nicki and Crumpy retire the sport will die. AJ, Emil, Jarek and co will take over. So what if by then they're 30+? And then when they retire it'll be Ward, Holder and the probably not yet races a meeting riders that take over... In what way is that a bad thing? Weird, odd and different maybe. Parsloes, obviously! Have you not read the thread! Durh! I'm only amazed that in 2 GP appearances, Darcy has not won them! After all, he's win a World Final so I dont see the difference!

2012 Gp Wildcards Announced
SCB replied to Fozzie4388's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Harris was given a wildcard for 2007 - proved to be correct really, Won a GP, had a 3rd. Finished joint 7th. In 2007 he score the same number of points as the guys in 7th and 8th giving him a place for 2008. It suggested he was one of the best 15 rider in the World if he could score the same number of points as the guy in 7th in the World Championship and finished 9th himself. He also won a GP and had a podium finish. He was lucky to get a place for 2009 TBH, he did nothing in 2008. In 2009 he finished 5th in the qualifier. Suggesting there was nobody outside the GP's better than him. Then he qualified by finishing 6th in the series, joint 5th but Greg finished high due to GP wins. Had they used that to separate the 3rd guys in 2007 and not a run-off, Bomber would have been 7th. He's had one season where his qualification was dubious, every other years he's probably been deserving. -
2012 Gp Wildcards Announced
SCB replied to Fozzie4388's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Fair point about the top 12. Thought as I believe that Pepe and Ward are in the top 15, we're actually talking top 14 but it all gets a bit awkward. Basically, is there anyone not in the GPs who will do a better job than Harris and/or Lindgren? Freddie and Holder are 2 of the top 3 in the EL averages but World Champions they are not We're talking on the World stage here. I just don't feel Bjarne has the fight to do it any more despite being a damn good league rider. He'll no doubt be ok in a few of the GPs but I can't see him adding much that someone like Greg Laguta wouldn't add. -
2012 Gp Wildcards Announced
SCB replied to Fozzie4388's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It's irrelevant whats he or anyone else has done in the past. Ivan Mauger has won more titles than any current day rider but you'd not give him a wildcards. What if Rickardsson made a comeback tomorrow? What you should be asking is, "is Chris Harris one of the top 15 riders in the World at present - or will be next season?" IMO, he's borderline, same with Freddie. Don't forget, 8th is an arbitrary figure that has no meaning. If a rider was the 10th best rider in the World for 10 years are you telling me you'd boot him out of the GPs after a season because he didn't qualify and replacing him with the 16th (or worse) best rider in the World? I wouldn't, I want to see the best 15 riders in the World in the GPs - sadly, I think Bjarne ruins that and there is the issue with qualifiers. But take out Bjarne for the old Laguta and I think you'd have a pretty spot on field. Lets not forget 12 month ago people were claiming we had the strongest GP line up ever, so to lose Rune, Kolodziej and Laguta and we're gaining Ward and Pepe I think we straight away have a better series than last year. -
Cardiff Gp 2012 And Cricket
SCB replied to Boggle's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't see your average T20 attendee being a chip alley type of person! They seem a bit more well to do than speedway fans Now trains out of Cardiff may bit a pain in the backside! -
Greg Hancock World Champion
SCB replied to Dogstar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Ivan had 11 years, 68 to 79. TRick had 11, 94 to 05. I think thats it. No doubt someone will prove me wrong. -
Sgp 2012 Wild Cards Now Clear?
SCB replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thats Nicki -
Not on it's own. Another performance like it in 2 weeks time maybe. However, as a Bomber fan, I hope he doesn't get a wild card. Give him a year out to realise how much he needs the GP's, rather than just wants them. Too many poor starts (to a season rather than a race) needs to be sorted, the speedway season starts in March. Maybe Chris needs a winter in Australia to allow him to hit the ground running in March.
-
And the GP winner. Coventry Bees, winning what matters in 2011

2003 Speedway Grand Prix Question
SCB replied to Neil Grantham's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It was Billys number but he quit the GP's after the rider had signed up to the GP's, so the numbers had been assigned. -
Dugard scored 2 in his first GP. Frankly, most riders have beat that on their GP debut.
-
Well worth the £1.99. I'm a typical Brit, make the semi and bottle it! Cardiff now though! LISTEN TO HE ROAR!
-
It's the BBC, they don't have a habit of making up facts. Questionable opinions maybe but they don't tend to make things up.
-
When AJ is "on it" he's great to watch and often has you screaming in Kelvin Tatum style, "You cannot do that" but when he's not on it, he's pretty bland.
-
Newmans average has nothing to do with it. Armstrong would have been replaced by Roynon.
-
Surely it was a case of 2 of Armstrong, Newman and Roynon. Who the hell would pick Armstrong ahead of the other 2?
-
You mean like DRS in F1?
