  1. Stead rides Kings Lynn well? His last visit there in the league for PL back in 2004 when he was a 10 point man, he managed to score 314^2R. He was always pants at Lynn and will have barely ridden there in years. In last years World cup he had to battle by Kauko Nieminen who is terrible there and got lucky when Zorro had an EF, he did then admittedly beat Lindback before beating the excluded Nermark and PL 6 pointer Terro Aarnio. If he's good at Lynn then frankly, I don't want good riding for Team GB. Barker may not be much better but at least his career is going the right way.
  2. Tonights commentary was terrible. Almost as bad as the Aussie team managing!
  3. Why Boycey left it so his riders had to throw races I don't know!
  4. Sorry but what? Emil owes nobody anything. He rides, he gets paid. Neither side owes the other nothing. He doesn't ride, he doesn't get paid. Neither side owes the other anything. How the hell can you expect Emil to ride and not get paid? Emil is not the only rider to have pulled out of a SWC over the years, No Lee Richardson for Team GB in 2011 while TRick and Crump have pulled out a few times too. In fact Leigh Adams didn't ride at Kings Lynn last season, nobody said he owed it to the fans. Emil owes nobody anything, I don't get this concept within speedway or "he owes us/them", they don't!
  5. Well about 40,000 of them didn't go 45k at Cardiff, 5-8k at Brandon.
  6. Have you seen some of the rubbish we have had for GPs and SWCs over the years?
  7. No, you paid for GB vs Poland vs Russia vs Cz Rep. You'll get that. You made assumptions about who would be in the team. Are you moaning about no Bridger for team GB despite being in better form than Nicholls? Or no Pawlicki for the Poles? The Lagutas must have some seriously dodgy history if they can't get into the UK or Australia.
  8. 4-6 weeks? Hours more like! Jason Doyle is always popping his shoulder out and riding later that week. I've seen Emil Lindqvist dislocate his and ride days later too. It's a week at most.
  9. Maybe we should have a ban on idiots too? Some people don't need a drink to be an idiot. About 45,000 went into the stadium, how many had been drinking? How many caused trouble? Maybe we should ban speedway fans, after all, some of them kicked off, so lets ban them all......
  10. Just shows our level. If Bomber doesn't pull his finger out in the GPs I fail to see how we can justify having a Brit next season.
  11. Don't be such a big girl. You're not going to Cardiff because some Brummies were a bit nasty about a rider?
  12. My experience of the Poles is they're loud, passionate and good fun. The times I have chatted to them they have been friendly and a good laugh, even had some banter with them. As for the jumping out of your seat after a good race, it's surely only the British who don't do that, "Oh boy, that was a jolly fine race by young Mr Harris there, Jolly good show lad" while polity applauding! Sorry but if I've juts seen my rider have a good race I'll probably jump up in excitement - Though, as I mentioned earlier, I do try and sit somewhere that this won't be a problem. But there is nothing to stop someone who has one of these people in front of them from moving too.
  13. In all fairness, if I booked early to get a front row for my banner, I would be a little pissed off if someone complained about me putting my banner up.
  14. When I got in a 5 to 5 there was a huge void in the middle of the 3rd bend top tier, so I called my parents down and we sat in that. It meant my mum could sit happily while I could jump around without getting in anyones way. As the meeting progressed a few more lively people stood behind up so had no issuer with me standing/jumping around in front of them, they were doing the same. Just find somewhere sensible to sit. Theres plenty of empty seats! You can have almost a whole section to yourself on the home straight top tier if you like! As for the Poles, yes 1 or 2 get carried away but the majority of them are great fun, they're there for a good time and they do just that.
  15. Cardiff is depressing. The one off track is bad. So take the meeting to cosmopolitan Glasgow with a one off track? And what does the price of a hotel have to do with anything? I go to 40-50 meeting meetings a year and stay in 0 hotels. If people choose to stay over night, well thats up to them. Glasgow a speedway city but Cardiff not? 45,000 watched speedway in Coventry in 2010, I doubt that many people go to speedway in Glasgow in a year, even if you count people 30-odd time for every meeting they attended. Do agree the track was better when it used to rut up though.
  16. Regarding good/bad riders, someone mention Dave Norris and Dean Barker. When the pair of them rode at Newport years back now, my sister come along to see Floppy because she liked him on tele. After the meeting she was for an autograph but got shy but he saw this so come over and said hi and chatted to us both for what seemed like ages, could not fault the guy at all. Onto Crumpy, when he did the Welsh Open in 2001 at Newport when he was not out riding he was wandering around signing autographs. After the meeting he was in the pits signing autographs (with Johno), 45 minutes later he was STILL in the pits signing autographs and handing out photos when I left. I've also popped over to a Crumpy training school at Newport where he spent time going between those at the school, the fans in the stand and his kids who were at the back of the pits. Both times I've seen him at Newport he has been a credit to the sport. BUT he does have a reputation for being a moody sod. As it stands, I can only ever remember 1 rider refusing a chat/autograph in all my years of going to speedway, someone everyone seems to think is a "nice guy" too
  17. Things are never as good on tele as real life. Go buy the DVD of your favourite band latest gig, now go and watch them live, which is better? Go to the pub or watch a soap where they're all sat in he pub? Have sex or.... You can never beat being there for the real thing and ultimately, the SGP is a live sporting event that to appreciate fully, you have to be there. My mum attends 1 speedway meeting a year, she has never missed a Cardiff. She loves it all, from the day out pre-meeting to the meeting itself. She asks constantly when Bomber is due out next and whos in the next race. Cardiff must be doing something right to get someone who has no interest in speedway (doesn't even watch it on Sky when it's on the tele in her own living room!) Really? This year for the first time ever the 3rd and 4th bends were completely packed (not empty!). The expensive home straight was empty on the top tier but it always is but the rest of the stadium, while it had a few gaps, was pretty much full. I'm sure in the past the official figures started at 32,000 for first GP and has slowly eeked up to 45,000. As the speedway capacity is 62,000 (they lose 10,000 due to H&S not allowing the first x rows to be used) I'd guess they have got up to, or very close to 48,000 this year.
  18. At £153 you could pay for a limo to take you to and from Cardiff from as far away as the midlands! And you can get 8-12 people in your limo, so you could probably get to Scotland for less if theres 12 of you
  19. I don't care how it come across on TV, being there Cardiff is just brilliant. As you run up the steps into the seating areas hearing the noise getting louder and louder until you walk in and that noise! WOW! 45,000 fans all cheering and booing. It's just brilliant. I love it at Cardiff, I think it could all be from the gate but it would still be magical. Throw in the chance to meet old and new friends. A great day out.
  20. I'd not have Greg in my list of "likes" (well, I did when he won the final last night, 13/2 ) and I know a few people who think the same. Boring rider and he does come across as someone whos trying bloody hard to be nice. Personally, if there was a meeting with 16 Greg Hancocks taking place in my back garden I'd not pay to watch it. On the other hand, I don't like Nicki but imagine a meeting with 16 Nickis taking chunks out of each other I'd not begrudge Greg a 2nd World Title, and in fact would much prefer he wins a title to Gollob wining a title. I'm with Orion and Grachan though.
  21. I thought it was about £200. Not worth getting out of bed (in a £200 a night hotel) for! Edit > You're correct, it's £1,300 at todays exchange rate, so a little odd that Ed should not want to turn up Can I be reserve for every GP please?
  22. 1 has a Polish passport (but he did get to Cardiff before as a Russian!) and the other had to jump through hoops to get here.
