Swc Event 2, Peterborough 13.7.
SCB replied to tomazpozrl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Everything about last night was brilliant. The track, the presentation, the lack of queues to get in and out. The selling of beer in cans so it woud be quicker than selling pints and although I missed the fireworks I'm told they were excellent too. Also, well done to Danny King, he proved me wrong. -
You're an expert at everything, you now even seem to know more than a multi World Champion.

Not really. In what way? I've never liked Nicki, in 1998 he comes to Newport twice and wiped out Wato 3 times, I have along memory. I can't stand Nicki. He is a great rider. I'll pay to watch him. He can do amazing things. Sadly, he is a nut job who does (or has done) far too many silly things so I'll always have a smile/laugh when he falls/crashes. edit> I didn't want to see him injured, I'm not than nasty.

I can't stand Nicki. The Russian lifted and took him out and had to go.

Over The Years Cardiff Entertainment

Do you want a pop concert or a speedway meeting? Thing is, if you have a top band there, it'll up the cost or the place will sell out and us speedway fans will be forced out. 62000 -
Two words, second one off. I can't stand Zorro, I despise the guy. I'm hopefully a little Swedish friendliness will see Zorro catch a cold and Lindback as reserve getting his place. Thats my reading of the situation too.

As there is a chance that Crumpy may be at Somerset that night for Mark Lemons testimonial, I'm thinking a trip down to Somerset is in order. I live in Coventry too, says it all about VFM really! By the time I split the petrol money with a couple of others, Somerset for Marks meeting costs less and it'll probably be a better meeting. Half that line up are not exactly known as Coventry track specialists, in fact, they're the opposite! Jurica Pavlic - ordinary and boring Jarosław Hampel - boring Fredrik Lindgren - can be brilliant Maksim Bogdanov - No idea. Chris Holder - Can be very good. Adrian Miedziński - Nothing speical Piotr Protasiewicz - not great, boring. Martin Smolinski - A EL reserve after 3 season at Coventry. Kenneth Bjerre - generally pretty good. Grzegorz Walasek - Crap. Jonas Davidsson - Who knows?! Kauko Nieminen - Not very good. Chris Harris - Might give Freddie a challenge for the win. Lukas Dryml - Nowt speical Magnus Zetterström - Very good, sadly Dave Watt - Poor to average, rarely good. Now if Lindback, Zagar and Schlein had been in it, they're all good at Coventry and pretty exciting.

I'm guessing you're got it wrong. No way would 2 adults and 2 kids cost less than the price of 2 adults! It'll be about £90 for a family ticket this year based on the fact it was £87.5 this year, £85 last year, £82.50 the year before...

I didn't know it kicked off by you too The fighting happened in the 3 or 4 rows directly behind me, I did not see Ben Barker while it was kicking off. Tiger2297 version of events makes a lot more sense than anything else I have read.
-
Because I know that 3 of the names mentioned on this thread are innocent of any wrong doing. I've not said Ben is innocent, I've said that I did not see him doing anything wrong.

I was sat with SB or more or less with him all night, he didn't (nor did I) see where Ben was at the time of the incident, we know he was around but that is it. All either of us can say is we did not see him getting involved. Sadly, trouble has kicked off in an area where a number of riders were sat, they're now being accused of something just for being "name" in the area at the time. Also, I personally don't like the fact Silver Bee has been named/dragged into this however it was done or whatever the intent. IF someone wanted his input, a PM would have been a much better way to go about it, he could have confirmed/denied your story that way and posted when he felt like it. It's also interesting to note that the Poels were getting the blame to start with as were a number of rider accusing of wading in who were not even there at the time, maybe it's time for one or two people to stop adding 2+2 and dirtying the names of innocent people. I suggest a few people edit posts on here.

Until last night, I had never experience a problem at Cardiff with any nationality and had in fact had a good laugh with the Poles many times. After it kicked off last night and subsequently settled down I had a tap on the shoulder an had this big Pole bearing over me, he held out his hand and apologised for the Poles and said he only wanted to have a drink and support his guys, I shook his hand and then another Pole leaned over and did the same. I don't like the anti-Pole attitude on here, the majority do just want to come over an have a good time, have a laugh and meet up with others. That generally happens. If one or two people have kicked off, then it's a shame but I'm sure most of the Poles are ashamed by it. Does anyone know how started the spat on the 4th bend after the Sayfutdinov/Nicholls? We're hearing the Poles this, the Poles that but they may not have started it. I see Andrew Tully is being accused of being around when it kicked off, I did not see him until AFTER it had all gone mad, I may be wrong and I apologise if that's the case but I don't think he should be judged as guilty by association.

The stewards are a loads of jumped up thugs. I was sat right in front of the incident and had my pint thrown out of my hand by one of them. Later on, when there was trouble right at the back, the stewards STOOD in front of a group of us while Bomber was beating Freddie and then had the cheek to grab me and tell me I was being kicked out until one of the stewards stood down the front and pointed out I'd done nothing wrong. If the fans stand in someone way or grab people they're kicked out, how to these thugs get to do it? Surely there job is to break up fighting so nobody get injured, if pushing innocent people around to get to them is how to do it, maybe it would be better to let the fighting carry on, none of the people fighting did anything to em and I was in the middle of it, the stewards on the other hand felt the need to manhandle me (and others) when I was trying to get away. Also agree about the suggestion of non-alcohol areas for familys and those who don't want people drinking annoying them every 5 minutes and I say that as someone who likes a drink while watching the GP but I'd like to think I don't ruined anyone else's GP as a result, I tend to stand towards the back so I'm not blocking anyone when I'm going in and out.

TBH, having attended a few practices now, it's pretty boring. P&P at the start of the year is naff for clubs, now imagine that when you have not been starved of speedway for 4-5 months.

Where Is Everyone Staying In Cardif
SCB replied to ciderman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I know, it's exactly how I get about Cardiff every year, I was telling my boss yesterday afternoon about my plans for the weekend and she looked at me as if I had two heads, whne I explained to her it was better than xmas she told me xmas must be crap for me, so I pointed out that Cardiff is just so great. I pity non-speedway fans Cardiff weekend starts now, the car is all packed and I'm off to Swindon in about 10 minutes. -
Parking At The Millennium Stadium
SCB replied to paulboy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There are many ways out, I have a little local knowledge (being form Newport and having worked in Cardiff) but to try and give direction would be nearly impossible. Basically, try and get to rover Way, then onto the B4239 and that'll get you to Newport and you should avoid the worst of the traffic. -
Leaving Coventry at about 5ish on the Thursday night, travelling to Newport via Swinond Speedway, have to find something to do to waste most of Friday before a trip over to Somerset in the evening, up early at about 9.30/10ish on GP day (it's a Saturday, anything pre-11.30 is early) and down to Cardiff with all the peasants on the bus and a train. Newport Speedway on the Sunday, planning a day out on the Monday before heading to Wolves vs Peterborough on the evening and then rolling into work on Tuesday morning for the 2 busiest days of the month while feeling like death. Then the count down begins for 2010

£25 to stand on the terracing at Coventry? I think I'll give it a miss. -

Totally agree. Stop for a wee and then off I go. -
Don't know if tis been mentioned on here but Emils bikes (carbs at least) were tested by the FIM. Incidently, the guy tuning these super fast bikes has said he'd like to help Team GB in the SWC, what odds on him being there? I'd say closed to 0.
-
I've heard a rumour that Scotts bikes are only 400cc, he has agreed to do this so Emil can have 600ccs you have to love Nicki, he makes a mistake, takes another guy out then slags him off, he should be saying it was an accident but he is sorry that Emil was involved. Nicki can give it out more than anyone but is there a GP rider who moans more than Nicki when things don't go his way?
-
The rider liked it in the actual GP too, the ones interviewed did anyway. The riders like easy ride, no bumps, ruts and slick. The fans like passing.
-
I'm really pleased for him as I would be any rider who'd be struggling as he has. I really hope that win was the kick start his season (and career?) needed.
