I'll support them both, just as I would any rider who is British and in the GP's or riders I like (Bomber happens to fit into both categories) but that doesn't mean I am not allowed to be shocked at his inclusion in the GP's. Sadly, Bomber nomination does nothing to silence those who claim the GP's are unfair and it's not talents that gets you in but money/Nationality. The GP series should be the top 15 in the World (I know there some arguments about who that is and sadly, 2 non-top 15 riders qualified in the Qualifiers, so the top 13 is the best that can be achieved now), Chris doesn't, sadly, fit into that bracket base don the last 12 months performances. I'm not sure why people think Puk should be in either TBH, I think he has peaked. Zagar or Holder should have Harris' place IMO. That said, as I said in the beginning, I'll be supporting Bomber this season. I'll probably get to 2 GP's in 2008 and both time I'll be wearing my Chris Harris shirt and supporting him over everyone else, know he can prove us all wrong.

The stadium is about 20 minutes by tram form the centre/tourist stuff. Stay in the centre, get the tram on the day for about 50p each. It's easy enough to find, just look for the tram full of speedway fans (or with a big 22 on the front) If you stay in the centre, you can't go wrong. As Sandie says, ether of the squares. Wenceslas is a bit more active and a bit cheaper where as Old Town is only a 5 minute walk away but is quieter and more expensive and more of a sit down for a beer in a quiet bar rather than the clubs (thats your other half may not always enjoy) of Wenceslas square. Neither is particular busy though. Pragues brilliant, something for everyone/ Clubs, pubs, bars of varying levels of excitements plus enough tourist thing to do in the day (and night) to impress anyone. Get up to the castle on night, when everything is lit up it's amazing. Don't stay near the stadium, you'll be miles from anywhere but the stadium and what appears to be a ghetto.

Im missing why Zagar is such a bad choice? Hampel? Boring. Puk? Didn't really hack it this year did he? Who else is there? -
Wild Cards For 09
SCB replied to beesbarmyarmy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Bwahahahahahaha! IMO, probably the correct 4 (may have swapped Richardson for Nicholls) but then I don't just look at British results so what do I know?! -
Orion you ploker, speedway starts and ends in this country!

I'm sure Matt Etherington rode for Arena Essex at Newport once, would have been about 2000. I'm sure he was only classed as a CL guest for a missing number 7 though.

I wonder if the Speedway Star will apologise to Subedei now? Also, how stupid does it make a number of people associated with Team Gb? Constantly banging on about it being at Coventry when the contract for Leszno was signed a few years ago now. And Prague Going to be cold and miserable. Always said the GP got in the way of a good weekend, I might still go in August any way.

He was top scorer on 12 going into the semis, then top scoring on 14 going into the final. Greg on the other hand had 11 then 13. I believe Leigh was on 11 then 14 and Jason on 9 then 12.

Have you not heard of a Monster Vodka? It seems to be the latest cool drink Yes. I trust you will now be happy and shut it with the conspiracy theories?

Ironic? No, it just shows what a joke the World Finals when one of the biggest supporters of the World final admits a rider would have won a World Final due to home track advantage, that cannot be the case in the GP series. Thank God.

I doubt it.

Parsloes, you make some good arguments, I could throw a few more in for you. I'm not blind to the GP series and your argument that Tai cannot be in World Championship is a fair one that I'd not argue with. My argument is he is not ready for the GP's. One thing I would throw back is that years ago riders seemed to get to the top quicker, maybe the lack of professionalism of the top guys meant they had chinks in the amour that the raw young upstarts could see and allowed themselves the chance. These days, everyone is so professional, it's hard to break into the top of the sport. There are very few riders under the age of 23 who are ready for the GP's or even a World Final event if there was one, realistically, I'm not sure many would qualify for a World Final if the chance was there, I base this on the fact (loosely speaking as I'm not checking every riders age) there were so few managed to qualify for the GP Challenege this season and there were 16 places available in that (so in effect, it was the same number of places as the one of World Final, but it was missing the very top guys who didn't do the qualifiers any way) I make it only Pavlic who's under 23 who made it. I think Bjerre is now about 24, Miedzinski is 24, Mads 25, Zagar 25, Ljung 26 (O think after that we're talking 30+) So even if they're given the chance to qualify, they're falling by the wayside long before the GP's/final round any way.

So from the quote, "Sadly, the GP's are not solely for 17 and 18 year old but everyone...." you have managed to work out I think the GP's are only for old riders? Try reading what I write, you'll get a better idea of what I think. Frankly, your dig at Greg says a lot about your attitude about the GP's. The GP series should have the best 15 riders in the World in it (certainly 15 of the top 20 or so, it's a subjective arguement who th top 15 or 20 are any way), Greg is well into that top 20 in fatc he's top 5 and I'm pretty sure whatever system you used, he's qualify and rightly so. Just what is your issue? That Tai cannot qualify? Because that would be wrong, he can (ask Ulamek, Walasek and Bjerre), he just didn't. In fact, he got through the first round by coming 3rd in the British Final. If you honestly think Tai should be in the GP's, you're mad! Give it 3 or 4 years and I think he'll be there and finges crossed doing well. FWIW, one rider of Tais age I think would be a credit to the GP series is Emil Sajfutdinov but he's a class or two ahead of Tai right now. The only rider I can't say I'm too excited about in the GP's are Walasek and Ulamek but they qualified by rights so good luck to them, they deserve to be there. No comment

MLs post or srbrambles? I know who I find more interesting.

Classic. So I post that Tai shuold not be in the GP's, as do a few others, you lauch into us with abuse and then ask me if I can read and then claim you don't think he should be in the GP's. So you admit that althought you agree with me and the other who said Tai should not be in the GP's that you still felt the need to argue. LOL. I have NEVER rubbished Tai achievements, I've just tried to put them into perspective, they're not that of a GP rider.
-
If you and "many more" think Tai should be in GP's, then I'll happily be an idiot or any other names you wish to call me for thinking he should not be. Personally, I don't believe you have proved yet that Tai is ready for the GP's, just listed a lot of great achievements for a 17/18 year old lad in his 2nd season of racing. Sadly, the GP's are not solely for 17 and 18 year old but everyone and there are many better riders than Tai at present who would make him look silly in the GP's 95% of the time. No doubt you'll come back with "decent points" like brining Olly Allen and Simon Stead into a discussion on Tai's GP chances, talk about trying to change the topic of discussion, it's a well known trick that someone losing an arguement trys to pull. Tai Woffinden for the GPs?! Don't make me laugh.
-
If you have to ask what my problem is, it's suggestive of the fact there isn't one. He out performed Olly and Steady? WOW! If someone asked me where they ranked in the list of potential World Champions, I'd say nowhere. As potential GP riders, I'd say a long way short and unlikely to ever achieve it and if they did achieve it, make any success of it. I'm missing the relevance of Olly and Steady though and you seem to missing the fact I questioned why Stead was in the SWC team at Brandon and not Tai. Two more over hyped riders. They are bit part players on the continent. Good second strings, mediocre heatleaders. Yet Brits constantly knock Lee Richardson but he is far superior to both (and all other Brits) in Sweden and Poland but as he's nto the blue eyed boy over here, he can forget it. Ignorance. For British Speedway fans, speedway starts and stops in this Country and they wonder why we're rubbishe in SWC's and GPs!!! I'm not criticizing him and I do like him. I'm just trying to point out a few realities. He is realistically only the 12-15th best rider in World at under 21 level so it annoyed me when some claimed after his tapes exclusion he "wasn't bothered" (do you think he wasn't bothered? Don't you think that's an insulting remark to make?) and some people have him down as a GP rider for next season when he's done nothing at all to suggest he could hack it in the GP's. In 3 or 4 years time, I'd expect him to be ready and realistically, I'd say afetr the current two GP riders and Richardson, he is our only hope of GP standard rider in the next 5 seasons. So they were not in the Gp's at 18 then? In fact, come to think of it who has been? Nobody! So why should Tai be in there when he's done nothing to prove his worth? and thats some odd choice of riders, how many GPs/World Final did they qualify for by right? A handful for Martin Hagon (before my time to give a more exact figure)
-
Yes, his record at PL level It makes me laugh that Silver Bee is the ignorant one but you probably don't have a clue what Tai is doing any where other than Rye House. He's not doing a lot in Poland. Tai is a good rider, he'll be a superb rider one day but at present he's only just on the radar and is having far to much pressure heaped on him. and the "his gating lets him down" line, yeah, like it did Sajfutdinov? Stone last twice, still managed to take the win. The scary thing is, he's only a few months older than Tai.

Excuse 1. Maybe, just maybe Tai is not as great as some on here like to think? (understandable given he's only just turned 18 and it rare you get such a talent at 18, looks at the hype Sajfutinov has right got for being just that) He's a good rider but not as wonderful as some think.
-
Fair play in the run-off. Sold Pavlic the dummy and then pounced for the tiniest of gaps.
-
GP's? On this showing he'd be shown up in a GP for under 21 level. Maybe some of the hype he's getting can be calmed down now. Personally, I think being brought back down to earth like this could be a good thing, he can now see how hard he has to work to make it against the top boys at this level before he even gets a chance vs the senior boys. This could be a test of character and for once Tai won't be hearing how great he is. Holder? Talk about bottling it!

Said Sitera had no chance, what I've sene of him he looks hopeless. The top 2 have both dropped a point to an also ran now
