  1. 15 year olds don't have NUS cards, so they'll pay adult price.
  2. 20k for the amount of covering that's needed doesn't seem that excessive, not when you consider it's all built to measure rather than just off the shelf. Promoter claim rains offs cost them 5-8k, this kit pays for itself after 4 meetings have been saved, for some clubs that's in a single season, then going forward each seaosn after that it starts to make money. Then there all those not so great meeting we see that could be made better due to these covers.
  3. You've got it bad mate I'm not sure I see Pepe in quite the same way you do
  4. Using this theory every GP should be great, they're hard fought, sadly, this seaosn everyone one of them has been a pile of crap. On the other hand I have yet to see a poor meeting at Somerset. Frankly thats a poor argument, I support my preferred riders, I don't go to speedway because some rider I don't care about might get some prestige. Only 1 rider at Coventry means anything to me, so why would I go just for the sake of the 5 races he is in when I can go to Somerset and financially reward a rider I like (Mark Lemon) and see a handfull of other riders I enjoy watching race (Crumpy, Matej, PK, Gathercole, Woffinden, Larsen and McGowan)
  5. I've not seen him but when you consider he cant even get to the U21 Final, you have to fancy he's nowt special. If you like, remove Bogdanovs form the list, still not enough to get me there however much some try and convince me, notice I'm not trying to convince anyone they shouldn't go?
  6. Heats 2, 8 and 14 have contained Ben Barker in the last few weeks at Coventry, are you really suggesting he is "little more than old second half riders"? Kennett has been in heat 14 all season too. Dryml, Pavlic, Bogdanovs, Miedzinski, Smolinski, Nieminen. If they're now in the "no duffers" class, then I fail to see how Ben Barker and Ed Kennett are "little more than old second half riders". There is also the fact that to me, most of the riders in this meeting mean nothing, after Chris Harris I'd have nobody to support (other than every rider racing against Zetterstrom) and in fact quite the opposite I don't like most of the riders (Dryml, Zorro, Smoli, Watt, Walasek, Hampel), at Somerset there are a few riders I like and it's on a phenomenal track. I can only assume that those who prefer this meeting to Mark Lemons have never actually been to Somerset and certainly never seen Crumpy there, I assure you, Crumpy at Somerset is speedway heaven! Each to there own, but £25 to watch Dryml, Pavlic, Bogdanovs, Miedzinski, Smolinski and Nieminen hardly gets me excited!
  7. Sadly, even before reading the answer to the exception I knew which 2 they were. My only defence is that I was at both (also, Cardiff 2002 final was always going to see a first time GP winner, whoever happened to win the final and I knew that at the time too, embarrassingly, so did Tony Millard)
  8. That says it all, there's supporting the Brits and there is blind faith and you have gone for blind faith, just accept some Brits are not good enough. In this instance, Bomber and Scott are not good enough for the GP series, sadly.
  9. I'm from Wales, I don't speak English half the time, just some English-ish sort of babble The only reason I know is because on the Speedway GP game they say Ped-et-ersen so I found out how the Danes say it, Johno says most names as they're said in the riders mother tongue which is right really.
  10. Can't we have both? Actually, he says "pee-dersen" which is the way the Danes say it This website seems to agree.
  11. Glad someone else said it, thought I was going mad. How did same give this track a rating of 60%+ too? YAWN!
  12. I thought that and I have money on Freddie Certainly think Gollob can feel aggrieved even if Freddie didn't really do anything wrong.
  13. Scott must be laughing all the way to the bank with his £2,000!
  14. Well if security had done their job and stopped me taking in my cans, that would have been less of an issue
  15. I love my speedway but I was offered the chance to go to the Twenty20 finals on Monday and said yes, before finding out there was a GP, then we had a 2 minute, "oh God, what should we do moment" then decided the GPs had been crap this year, decision made. I've never been to cricket before or watched it on the tele but I had a bloody great day out, to think for 2 minutes I was almost tempted to say no to the offer for the sake of that GP. I'd have only been upset anyway as the pub would not have shown the last few heats any way. I can't believe some other sporting event was better than the speedway But I made the right choice Thanks Jenn
  16. When the idea first come in I was appalled. However, Nicki won his first World Title as a wildcard, thats a good argument straight away. Then this season we had Ulamek and Walasek qualify and they're quite frankly, a waste of time, on the other hand young Sayfutdinov has been a breathe of fresh air and he was nominated. Nicki P probably won't qualify for 2010 either, should he be out because he got injured? I accept the wildcard system is not perfect but I think some times you need to bring in the human element, I just wish the human element did not base things on Nationality and commercial reasons, I hope that next season Zagar and Lindback get wildcards regardless of the number of Swedes in the GP series and lack of other nationalities to take the place from Zagar.
  17. Do you follow the sport? Because their have always been GP qualifiers and most riders get the chance to qualify. OK in the past there were the 2 British semi-finals prior to the final itself but that only means 16 rider lose out and frankly, the 16 that miss out, are probably not worth getting upset about. Some of them have the chance to qualify via the under-21 final too. The qualifiers still happen!
  18. The reason its the "only meeting which actually allows people to qualify" is because there have been 6 other meeting to get to this point, thats excluding any National rounds held by each country. Every half decent rider in the UK had the chance to qualify.
  19. It's possible. The GP challenge is normally covered by a local broadbcaster. I'm almost certainly going to Someset that night, Crump, Zagar and PK at Somerset vs Zorro, Smoli and Nieminen at Brandon. Not a hard decision!
  20. I suggest you get your dictionary out. I have just quoted you (above). The reporter made that statement (albeit in print) and I copied it, it's a quote. I will QUOTE the dictioary for you now, "to repeat (a passage, phrase, etc.) from a book, speech, or the like, as by way of authority, illustration, etc". What does Lee Richardsons GP position or number of GB title have to do with (and I quote), "Nicholls, who in fairness to him has spent the last six years practically holding together a pretty ordinary and at times poorly organised Team GB side, rightly feels aggrieved."? Lee Richardson has performed better for Team GB than Scott over the last few years. I have nothing against Scott but he makes himself look an ass here, he says Rob said he was not going to use him then moans that Rob didnt phone him to say he was not going t use him, d'oh! I also found the comment from the reporter to be quite funny as Scott has not held together a pretty ordinary Team GB over the years. It's a quote, don't have a go at me for it, I suggest you contact Mike Bacon and tell him you don't agree with him. Funny you should jump in and defend Middlo though when nobody has mentioned him, says a lot really.
  21. Someone said it, I quoted it, it's a quote. Rob didnt use Scott in the first leg, what made Scott think he was planing to use him later? The best we have, proven over the last few years is Lee Richardson.
  22. Did Rob phone Carl Wilkinson and tell him he was not using him in the World Cup? what about every other Brit riding in the EL? Or the PL? Why stop there, did he phone all eligible riders in the NL too? I love the quote, "Nicholls, who in fairness to him has spent the last six years practically holding together a pretty ordinary and at times poorly organised Team GB side, rightly feels aggrieved." I assume that was sarcasm? 4 wasn't it last year at Coventry that he managed to score? Only better than Simon Stead.
  23. So the rider who said it was not safe have been punished as has the referee who said it was safe? So was it safe or not? Brilliant.
  24. No they don't. Laguta is Russian but was going to be Latvian but decided against it. Sayfutdinov has a Polish passport though. Tai may have not mad the best decision to help the Aussies, on the other hand, working in the pits of a SWC final may be a great move and give him some good experience.
